Bridgette Fonda

What happened to this chick? In the span of 3 weeks I have caught 3 of her movies on HBO (Singles, Single White Female, Point of No Return), and she was a sexy woman in the mid-90's. She's only 40 now, so I'm sure she still looks good, but she hasn't done anything since 2001. So what gives? Bad acting?

I just saw her in A Simple Plan. Love that movie. Don't think she's that great of an actor though. She probably started shooting out kids or something.

I've talked about this one with my wife before. Male actors make a couple of decent movies and they seem to go one forever even if nobody really gives a flip about them (Nicholas Cage, Ben Affleck...Sean Penn just showed up in a flick with Nichole Kidman for crying out loud. Sean Penn??????????? Playing a lead role???????????

But if your a female actress, no matter how hot at the time, within 10-15 yrs your either done or doing character actress bit parts (Jennifer Jason Leigh, Darryl Hannah, Marisa Tomei, Rene Zelwegger, many, many others.)

Zellweger? What? She's going to be starting in "Cinderella Man" with Russell Crowe this year which could get her, at least, a Golden Globe nomination. She just did the second "Bridget Jones" movie, which although didn't set the critics aflame, got her some good cash.

Yeah, what the shit? Sean Penn just won the Oscar for best Actor last year. I believe he has won in the past or at least been nominated numerous times.

Actually just once, but he's been nominated for Best Actor 4 times (and won last year).

Sean Penn's a dick though. So I say we discredit him.

I delivered food to her and Danny Elfman a few weeks back. I can vouch that she's still pretty cute.

Franklin, I command you to list the requirements for winning Best Actor.

Make sure to include "suffering from a tragic illness" to cover most of the bets.

Is it just me, or do you have play one of the following to win "Best Actor"?:

* Mentally/Physically handicapped
* Violent criminal
* Sexual deviant
* Tragic historical figure - preferably, Jewish holocaust victim

Was one of them for Shanghai Surprise? I guess I can't believe that someone would cast him in the lead as a government agent, kinda like casting Crispin Glover as President or Carrot Top as a brain surgeon.

My guess would be other priorities -- she got married late in 2003, had her first child in January this year. Plus, she suffered back injuries in a bad car crash in March 2003, with a couple of TV roles in 2002. So she's been kinda busy since '01, just not with film stuff.

As for Bridget, good to hear she's still cute - I've always liked her. By far my favorite Fonda.

What about best actress?

* Queen. Or sometimes if you just have a cool British accent.
* callgirl/hooker/prostitute (ok, they're all the same thing, just like typing them)
* spousal abuse
* crusader against big business
* Mentally/Physically handicapped
* Violent criminal
* Old woman
* You are Kate Hepburn or Meryl Streep (or, even if you're playing Kate Hepburn!)

I know -- I can't believe it took someone this long to come up with something like this though

Ms. Fonda was very nice when I delivered to her, and tipped well. I was kind of bummed that I didn't get to meet Danny Elfman (I'm a huge fan of his work), but it all worked out. Overall, one of the nicest celebrities I've dealt with.

You get to deliver to her and all I get in Cincy is Brian Simmons, Bill Doran and when he lived here Corey Dillon. That's not fair.

I think someone did that a few weeks ago, so it's not the first time. Actually, the reply jumped the initial post (I think SD started the thread) and the person edited to say something like, "SD, tell me all about blah and blah."

Yes, I spend entirely too much time on this board...

Not that anyone cares, but we just took another Fonda/Elfman order, and I'm sending a driver of ours out to their house right now. Since I'm at work and have access, I thought I'd share. I now return you to your regular scheduled forum browsing.
