How 'bout them Warriors?

Sure no one cares much about the NBA...but my team is finally worth talking about

Acquire Baron Davis, and what happens? 13-7 since then, with a current 6 game winning streak, won 9 of their last 10, and their wins haven't come against just crappy teams -- Sacramento twice, Phoenix, Seattle and Houston have lost to the Warriors recently.

With a lottery pick guaranteed, I'm excited to see what this team can do in a full season.

Vince : I see that Mike Pietrus is also playing a lot more (like the end of last season), and he seems to have ncie numbers. I like that too.

Ragone : yeah. Look at the Heat and tell Kobe if he can make it without Shaq

4 games back with 8 to play...the Warriors could finish ahead of the Lakers this year. That would make me cry a tear of joy

Finally! It took years, but we've finally got a Lakers story that I will NOT get sick of hearing about.

How did this turn into a Lakers thread so fast?

Golden State -- the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA.

Vince--I'm a huge Warriors fan, and I made a thread about this 2 or so days ago, so maybe that explains the threadjack. People are just sick of the Warriors success!!!

13-7? Hmmpph. How about 19-2 in your last 21 games?

Nuggets are currently playing the best stretch of basketball I've ever seen them play. You guys helped us out last night. Beating Houston lets us set our sites squarely on the six seed.

If it's a Denver/Seattle first round matchup, Seattle fans will have about five games to enjoy their surprise trip to the playoffs.

Let's not forget the Suns are finishing up 14-3 down the stretch, despite playing Nash only about 22 minutes a night and having Stoudamire, Marion, Richardson, Barbosa, McCarty and the organ player all sit games out in that stretch to rest up for the playoffs

14 and 3...and at least one of those is a loss to the Warriors

Yeah, I like what the Warriors have done to end the season. Of course, both of Denver's losses in their 19-2 run were to the Suns as well.

If Denver gets the #6 seed, i think they can beat Seattle.

if they get the #7 seed i don't think they can beat the Spurs.

That all depends on the health of Duncan. If he is healthy, no, the Nuggets don't have a chance in hell.

That said, the Spurs will still be pushed, likely to seven games. This Nugget team plays well on the road and they are pretty close to unbeatable at home.

I'll change your words just a hair. . . If the Nuggets get the #6 seed, they WILL beat Seattle. If they get the #7 and face a healthy Spurs team, they WILL lose to the Spurs.

What a game tonight. Warriors lead the Suns 117-116 with just over 3 minutes to go. Baron Davis has made this team legit.

Playoffs in '06!!

Our two scorching hot teams meet up at the Pepsi Center if a few days. Should be an exciting game. Sorry we'll end your winning streak, but it'll have to be done.

I'm down -- let's do it

What was that ticket forwarding site? Buying tickets at face value...I bet the Warriors are still low for next year

You play the Suns in round one if you get in. Yeah, I think you can steal a game, maybe even a pair.

Damn -- heartbreaking loss in double OT to the Spurs.

Well...beating the top team in the NBA and then taking the #2 team to double-overtime in consecutive games is a definite sign that our team could be legit next year. I'm really excited for next season.

I'm a little dissapointed. You guys played great, but I wanted you fresh tomorrow night in Denver. It's a good measuring stick for the Nuggets. (take that as a compliment)

We've played some really hungry teams on our streak, but I'd love to have played the scorching hot Warriors to see how we'd react to another confident bunch. Coming into Denver after a late double OT game + the snow dealying the flight an hour or two is going to make it tough on you guys tomorrow night.

Not saying you won't give the Nuggets everything they could handle or that you may not even beat us. . . but I think it's more likely you'll be gassed by the middle of the third quarter and the Nuggets will be able to put on a few runs to finish you off.

Be careful about getting too excited for next year. It all hinges on the Baron. He hasn't exactly been a pillar of durability these last few seasons. That said, I love JRich and Pietrus. Dunleavey looks like he finally gets it and Murphy can be a pain in the ass on the boards. You guys have to be kicking yourselves for giving Foyle that contract. If you could keep the same team, subtract the millions he's getting for say a Tyson Chandler. . . you'd be a top five team in the West next year.

I hope the Warriors keep it up. Always liked em and I like both Mullen and Montgomery. Any chance you'll send JRich to the Nuggets in the offseason:

Tonight's game @Pepsi Center should be a fun one. How will GS respond to a deflating loss in one of the league's most hostile environments? I won't be able to watch the game tonight, as I'm sitting in a luxury box for the A's opener. Bittersweet.

I think they caught a major break when Indiana got banged up last year. I don't think they'd have beat a healthy Pacer team. They are a solid defensive team, but I think their bench is weaker this year and I know their defense isn't as good. Their three point defense has been especially poor throughout most of the year. They are a decent, but not great 24-19 against +500 teams.

They could bring it all together and cut down the nets again, it wouldn't shock me. My guess is they'll come up short this year. I don't think they are as good as either the Heat or the Spurs, provided those teams are healthy.

Sorry but I'm so sick of hearing this "excuse" as to why the Pistons won. Rasheed had a terrible case of planar fascitis which he fought through almost his entire time with the Pistons. Rarely was he at more than 75% through the playoffs. A number of other players were fighting off smaller injuries as well. But all anybody ever talks about is the poor Pacers and how banged up they were.

Look, it's just an opinion. Doesn't take away from the title. Of all the injuries Indiana was fighting, the Tinsley one was the toughest for them to overcome. To beat the Piston team last year, you had to have a PG who could run the offense. Tinsley was clearly slowed down, didn't shoot the three nearly as well (even when he had wide open jumpers) and it decimated any chance Indiana had to win that series.

You may get sick of hearing it, but I believe Detroit caught a major break with the Pacers being as beat up as they were. Now go watch your championship video tape again (if you can stand the 69-65 games to get there) and don't worry about the people who think the way I do.

If you're the best again, you'll prove it again on the court. I wish you'd have to face a healthy Pacer team this year just to see what could happen. But that's out of the question. You'll breeze through until the final two series. Miami and whoever comes out of the west. Good luck.

Nice game from the Warriors tonight. You could tell they were exhausted. I wasn't impressed with the defense early on though, especially on the interior. Melo really had his way with all of your bigs.

The three ball kept you in it until your legs started to wear out in the third.

Great looking team you have there. Hope Davis stays healthy and you guys have a good run next year. Be nice to meet you guys in the playoffs next year.
