FM: Belluno....Getting out of Debt
Welcome to the 2nd season of my Belluno dynasty. Belluno is a small club in Italy's Serie C2/A.
Year one can be found here. Last season we finished 11th as we went 11-11-12. Going into this season, my biggest concern is righting the financial situation of the club. As it sits right now, we are $681K in the red. My goal is to search the TL for free transfers of high value players and then turn around and sell them for profit. The way I have been playing is only guys that are on the TL or players that my scout has seen in action are the ones I go after.

I have a talk with Padrin and he tells me that the board is tightening their wallets this season. I'm told that my transfer budget is $73,366. I do receive some good news in regards to our sponsorship deal. We ink a new deal with a couple of the local companies and they agree to pay us $128K each of the next two seasons. Alberto Giuliatto, who was co-owned with Treviso saw his contract come to an end. I made a bid of $10K and I won. He is now a full member of the Belluno squad. Daneile Tormen has been voted as the Fan's Player of the Year for the club. Our U-20 squad has two players that have been recently promoted form our academy. (AM C) Marco Amoroso and (M L) Daniele Amoroso. I do believe these guys are brothers. Daniele was born 9 months after Marco. The Belluno board have invested another $70K into the club.

The Belluno directors are very pleased with my performance as manager. They are satisfied with the club's current financial position. The board expects us to achieve a safe midtable position again this season in Serie C2/A. The Belluno supporters are in full support of my management of the club. The Belluno supporters are very pleased with the progress the club has been making.

July 2, 2005 America (MEX) have retained the Mexican First Divison title. Teodor Banev, member of my U-20 squad, has said that he is having trouble adapting to the Italian lifestyle and his agent says that he would like to move before long. Since it is the offseason, I let him go on a leave of absence. July 4, 2005 Domenico Toscano has decided to retire from porfessional football. July 5, 2005 We receive two offers for Thompson. Hornchurch is in talks after they offer us $48K. His value is only $18K. July 8, 2005 The deal to send Thompson to Hornchurch is complete. $$$$ July 9, 2005 I approach to sign 18 yo. (M C) Dario D'Onofrio. July 14, 2005 Man. Utd have a new manager. Steve Bruce has been appointed to take control of the club. July 15, 2005 D'Onoforio decides to sign with Massese. July 18, 2005 I offer (DM C) Igor De Mattia up for loan as I have Sestu arriving on August 1. I receive offers from Bassano Virtus and Portosummage. We release (S C) Kenneth Zeigbo on a free. July 23, 2005 De Mattia is off to Portosummaga for the season. Update I've been offering to loan player's throughout the month, but nothing really good has materialized. Less than a week until the transfer deadline...

August Update

Nobody wanted to come play for me at Belluno on loan. I had teams accept my offers, but the player's turned me down. Guess that means my young players will see some first team action.

Teodor Banev has returned to the club and he has assured me that his home-sickness is gone. (DM C) Alessio Sestu has officially joined the club. August 2, 2005 Finally. We get a player to agree to come play for us on loan. (S C) Pierpaolo Nodari, memeber of Vicenza, has agreed to play for Belluno. August 7, 2005 COMMUNITY SHIELD Chelsea was defeated by Man. Utd 2-1. August 10, 2005 U-20 GK Andrea Baldassi is sold for $8K to Melfi. He was valued at $2K. August 13, 2005 Benevento offer $50K for Daneile Tormen. I respectfully decline as I am not getting rid of my best player from last season. August 17, 2005 Toluca have won the Noth American Champions Cup with a 3-2 aggregate win over Pachuca. August 20, 2005 ITALIAN SUPER CUP Juventus beat Milan 2-1 in front of nearly 86,000 fans.

Now that it's time for the games that count, I figure it's time to fill everyone in on my staff and my roster.
2005 Staff
Asst. Manager Giacomin is 52. He likes to play 4-4-2 and loves the attacking style of play. He is terrific working with youngsters, but is only average when it comes to judging talent. Coach Sommacal is 47. He also prefers the 4-4-2, but his mentality is to be adventurous. He is weak in every category and I want to replace him, but I do not have the funds to pay him off and then hire a replacement. Coach Lenisa is 45. He will be our GK coach. He is a 4-4-2 guy who likes to play an attacking style. He will also be key to evaluating talent. Coach Caser is 53. He will be our outfield coach. He also likes to play the 4-4-2, but he has told me that he would prefer to sit back. He is a good motivator as well. Are physios are both good at their jobs. Stracuzzi is 29 and Pescosta is 43. Graziano is our lone scout at the moment. He is 54 and he works well with youngsters. He is above average at judging ability but not so good at judging potential.

Daniele Tormen - 23 yo. old who is our starter. He was named to the Serie C2/A team of the year and was also the Belluno Supporters Player of the Year. Tormen is making $380/wk and is signed until 7/31/07. Value - $40k (up from $16k) Stats: 38 Apps, 7.37 Rating, 43 Conc, 10 Cln, 7 Mom, 56% Pass Luca Tomasig - 22 yo. who played all of last season on the U-20 squad as are one age exception. He is more agile than Tormen and finds himself in better position more often. Tomasig loves to punch out balls and is very aggressive. Tomasig is making $650/wk and is signed until 7/31/07. Value - $2k DEFENDERS (SW/D RC) Mattia Mela- 24 yo. who transfered to Belluno for $4k from Pistoiese on 1/29/05. He is very good with his head and is a good team player. His strong foot is his left and he will start on that side. Mela is making $1200/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $14k Stats: 3(5) Apps, 6.88 Rating, 3.63 Tck, 60% Pass (D RC) Christian Sandri - 21 yo. who played for the U-20 squad last season. He has some good physical attibutes, but his technical skill is lacking. He will be a player to come off the bench. Sandri is making $140/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $2k Stats: 2(3) Apps, 7.00 Rating, 0.81 Tck, 65% Pass (D RC) Alessandro De Bortoli- 24 yo. who is very inconsistent. He'll play a few games like a stud and then the next few as a dud. He has a low work rate and he does not seem to be a very good team player. He will also be a player to come off the bench. Sandri is making $360/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $2k Stats: 18(4) Apps, 7.00 Rating, 4.78 Tck, 67% Pass (D LC) Salvatore Ferraro - 22 yo. who transfered to Belluno for free from Inter on 7/1/05. He was on loan to Pro Vercelli last season as was named to the Serie C2/A Team of the Year. He is an all-around stud. (I use the term stud loosely, seeing how this is the lowest division in Italy. He is a 10+ in about 80% of his attributes) He will be starting in the middle of our backfield. Ferraro is making $950/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $40k Stats: 25 Apps, 7.24 Rating, 1 Ast, 3.16 Tck, 68% Pass (D C) Enrico Rigo - 33 yo. who is good heading the ball and is not afraid to mix it up. He is also in a backup role. Rigo is making $900/wk and is signed until 7/31/06. Value - $2k Stats: 18(2) Apps, 6.90 Rating, 1 Ast, 3.09 Tck, 67% Pass MIDFIELDERS (DM C) Igor De Mattia - 19 yo. who is still physically under-developed. He is very determined and his mental attributes are clearly his strengths. He will spend this year on loan at Portosummaga. De Mattia is making $340/wk and is signed until 7/31/08 Value - $4k (up from $2k) Stats: 32(3) Apps, 6.86 Rating, 1 MoM, 2 Ast, 2.24 Tck, 81% Pass, 12% Sot (DM C) Alessio Sestu - 21 yo. who we signed as a free transfer from Treviso on 8/1/05. He will start in the DM spot in our 3-5-2. He is an excellent tackler who is aggressive and determined. He played well in our friendlies and I look for big things to come out from this youngster. Sestu is making $1250/wk and is signed until 7/31/08 Value - $20k (M C) Matej Sekoranja - 18 yo. who joined Belluno on a $0k offer from Krsko. He had an awesome offseason development wise and he has the whole staff drooling over him. His technical skills and mental skills are mostly above average. He still needs to develop physically, which should come with age and he needs to become more of a team player. Sekoranja is making $300/wk and is signed until 7/31/08 Value - $36k Stats: 13(1) Apps, 6.93 Rating, 1 Goal, 1.73 Tck, 78% Pass, 29% Sot (AM RLC) Bruno Carnelossi - 22 yo. who will open the season as our starter on the right wing. I'm not too crazy over Bruno because he seems to be more comfortable in the middle of the field and I really need a winger. KEY U-20 PLAYERS
(D R) Teodor Banov - 18 yo. Bulgarian who is not happy to be in Italy. He has already been given a leave of absence and since he has returned he now tells me that he dislikes me.  I offer him to clubs, but have not gotten any response so he is stuck playing for me for now. He was transfered for $0 from Maritsa on 1/4/05.Banov is making $260/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $44k (D R) Marco Romano - 20 yo. who needs to develop his technical skills if he ever wants to see first team football. Romano is making $150/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $2k (M L) Daniele Amoroso - 17 yo. who was promoted from our academy this offseason. He is the younger brother of teammate Marco Amoroso. Daniele is physically talented and he could turn into a potential captain in the future. Amoroso is making $420/wk and is signed until 7/31/06. Value - $10k (M LC) Buonocore Davide - 19 yo. who transfered for $0k from Loanesi on 1/1/05. He is a couple of years of development away from the main squad. Davide is making $280/wk and is signed until 7/31/07. Value - $4k (M C) Sebastiano Solagna - 18 yo. who is physically gifted and will also see time as a backup to the first team. Solagna is making $400/wk and is signed until 7/31/06. Value - $2k (AM R) Denis Lazzaretti - 17 yo. who was an academy call up last year. Unfortunately for Denis, he was injured most of last season and he has had to spend the past half year in rehab. Luckily he is still young and may not fall behind the development curve. Lazzaretti is making $60/wk and is signed until 12/23/07. Value - $2k (AM C) Marco Amoroso - 18 yo. who just graduated from our youth academy. He is the better of the two brothers right now. He is physically gifted and he plays with a flair that I love. He showed me a lot in our pre-season friendlies and will see time in the rotation on the first team as well as a starter on the U-20 squad. Amoroso is making $480/wk and is signed until 7/31/06. Value - $24k (S C) Ivan Piscane - 20 yo. who needs to find first team football. I like him a lot and I don't want to sell him yet. I'm trying to loan him out at the moment so he can develop. He scored 8 goals last season on the U-20 squad. He may see some time with the first team. Piscane is making $160/wk and is signed until 7/31/06. Value - $2k

Venue: Giovanni Mari, Legnano Weather: Dry, 57 F Attendence: 2832 Odds: Legnano (6-4) FAV Referee: Andrea Romeo (I think the unknown ref. bug is gone now that the new season has begun...weird) Series: Belluno 0-1-2 vs. Legnano Season: Belluno 0-0-0 vs. Legnano Pregame Notes:
8' - Amoroso wins the ball around midfield and sends it to Fuzik. He makes a nice read and finds Nodari on a run and hits him in stride. Nodari makes a nice touch and puts the ball past the keeper and into the net. That's his first goal for the club. GOOOAAAALLLLLLL Belluno!!!! 20' - Tormen begins the season where he left off last year. Legnano create a good chance with a nice 2-man game, but Tormen comes up big with the save and the rebound is cleared by Ferraro. We go to the half with a one goal lead. And I'm not to comfortable with that fact seeing our history with leads has not been that good. We have been outshot 3-10 and Legnano have 60% possession. 62' - I bring on De Bortoli for Carnelossi and switch to a 4-1-3-2 formation that I was working on during our friendlies. 77' - Sekoranja and Sessolo come on for Nodari and Fuzik. 79' - Somehow we get beat on a long ball and Caputo gets behind the defense. He takes the shot earlier than expected and it sails harmlessly over the bar. The whistle blows and we get a hard fought 1-0 win on the road. We currently have no U-20 goalkeeper, so I offer to co-own Samuele Tramontano. He's a 18 yo. for Pro Sesto's U-20 team. They accept my $2k bid and I offer Samuele $220/wk. European Super Cup Chelsea score an early goal and hold on to defeat Real Madrid 1-0 in front of 19,000 fans. August 27, 2005 Pisacane is going to be on loan for the rest of the season with Rovigo. Samuele Tramontano accepts our offer and will join the U-20's immediately. August 28, 2005 I get an offer for Sessolo worth $80k from Lodigiani. He's only worth $20k, but I try to press my luck and counter with $100k. August 30, 2005 I offer a one week trial to (AM R) Alessio Carteni. My scout and I agree this guy is a stud and during his week with the club I'm going to convince him to join Belluno. *fingers crossed*

We are now down by two. Rigo is forced to come out and De Bortoli enters. 44' - My 2nd sub before half is forced by injury to D. Amoroso. Carnelossi goes in as the replacement. The Belluno directors are very pleased with my performance as manager. They are satisfied with the club's current financial position. Samuel Fuzik saw his first international action today in a World Cup Qualifier against Latvia. The young Slovak saw 15 minutes of action and earned a 7. He completed all 5 passes he attempted and his only shot was on goal. September 9, 2005 Marco Amoroso was injured during our squads U-20 match. He will miss two weeks with a strained calf. Our physio's recommend that I let a specialist examine him.  I hold off for the moment.

I tell the local media that I wasn't surprised that we beat a team that is "supposedly gunning for promotion" this season. This IS the second time we've beaten Legnano on the road in less than 35 days. Alessio Sestu, Aleksandar Makaveev and Salvatore Ferraro all liked my fortright view regarding Legnano's slim chance of getting promoted.  That's right boys, follow me and I will get the job done.I also tell the press that I'm happy with the recent play of Alessandro De Bortoli.

The Belluno board has decided to invest another $280k into the club. I keep wondering to myself how much more are they going to invest. October 3, 2005 We sign (AM C) Nico Pulzetti to a 4 wk. trial. My scout says he is a promising player well worthy of my consideration. This will also allow M. Amoroso to focus all his time on developing on the U-20 squad. October 7, 2005 Samuel Fuzik sustained a damaged shoulder in training and will be sidelined for about a week. October 8, 2005 We sign (M C) Alex Pederozili to a 2 week trial period. He looks to be a very stong player at the ripe age of 21.

I let Turzulli know that I outclassed him tactically in our afternoon match. October 17, 2005 Salvatore Ferraro and Alessio Sestu were named to the Serie C2/A team of the week. October 19, 2005 U-20 player, Buonocore Davide broke his ankle in training and will miss the next 5 months. October 21, 2005 U-20 player, Marco Amoroso pulled a hamstring in training and he is expected to miss 3 weeks. My physios suggest surgery, but I'm going to hold off for now. If he goes down again, then I'll shut down his season. What is up with the Amoroso brothers and injuries.

After a disappointing draw with Chiari, I enter the locker room only to be met by my physios. They infrom me that Aleksander Makaveev suffered a torn groin in today's match and he will be out for 2 months. They also suggest surgery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAKAVEEV SETBACK FOR BELLUNO "Belluno stalwart Aleksander Makaveev will be out for about 2 months after suffering a torn groin muscle in his side's game against Chiari. Although concerned that the 20 yr. old will be missing from the first team, the fans of the club are remaining hopeful that the team can compete without him." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A member of the media asked me if Makaveev will be missed. I told him that he will be missed, but I also think that the squad will be able to pick up the slack in his absence.

Our U-20 squad lost in the 4th round of the U-20 Cup. Last season we only made it to the 2nd rd. November 21, 2005 Alberto Giuliatto was named to the Serie C2/A team of the week. This is the 2nd time in his career that he achieved this feat. Interesting note: 11/22/04 and 11/21/05 are the two dates he accomplished this feat.

December Update
The Belluno directors are very pleased with my performance as manager. They are satisfied with the club's current financial status. The board expects us to achieve a safe midtable position again this season in Serie C2/A. The Belluno supporters are delighted with the progress the club has been making. Woot! Is this the game that I get the "real' Tormen back? 19' - Tormen makes another save as Sandri was beaten badly on the play. 35' - A beautiful cross by Carnelossi finds Nodari on a run into the box and he easily puts it home into the net. GOOOAAAALLLLLLL Belluno!!!! 45' - Giuliatto takes a direct free kick from the top of the penalty area and it sails past the keeper and into the net. That's his 2nd game in a row with a goal off a DFK. GOOOAAAALLLLLLL Belluno!!!! We take a 2-0 lead at the half. We have a 10-4 shot advantage and we have 55% possession. 54' - Canrelossi feeds a ball to Sessolo on a run and he gets a nice first touch to get him into the box and free for a shot. It goes into the net. GOOOAAAALLLLLLL Belluno!!!! 72' - Rigo and Carteni replace Sessolo and Fuzik. 80' - D. Amoroso comes on for the ultra-hot Giuliatto. The game ends and we played very well today. A nice 3-0 shutout should get everyone's morale up. The board is very happy about today's big win over Castel San Pietro. Well so am I. I always enjoy the opportunity to rub a big win in the nose of the opponents manager. And today's 3-0 win over Castel San Pietro is no different. I let Nevio Valdifiori know that I tactically outclassed him today in our match and that his squad is no match for mine. December 5, 2005 Bruno Carnelossi and Alberto Giuliatto are named to the Serie C2/A team of the week. 9' - Giuliatto sets up Kabineb with a good opportunity in the box, but he has TOO much time and he blasts the shot over the bar. 29' - Carnelossi looks to send a ball into the box for Kabine. As the ball is in the air, Kabine is backed into and a foul is called. PENALTY!! 30' - Sekoranja steps up to the spot and his shot is SAVED! The rebound is cleared and the match remains level. 37' - Giuliatto remains a terror down the left wing as he sets up Fuzik with a good chance that rattles off the crossbar. 45' - Ferraro makes a very important challenge in the box and he wins it and then the ball runs to Pietranera and he one times it, but Tormen is there to make the save. The half ends without any goals, but there was plenty of action. We have been outshot 5-6, but possession is 50/50. There have also been 7 cards handed out. 51' - Fuzik has his shot from 7 yds. out saved as he shot it right at the keeper. 52' - Sandri trips a player and he picks up his 2nd yellow card and is sent off. Time to go to a more defensive lineup. 53' - Mela and Rigo enter for Sessolo and Sekoranja. 73' - Tormen makes another big save and the ball rolls around near the goal line before it is cleared out by Rigo. 74' - Nodari replaces Kabine. 84' - I don't understand how we get caught updield playing with a defensive mindset, but we do and it leads to a goal for San Marino. 93' - Carnelossi hits Nodari in the clear, but his touch is too strong and the ball rolls to the keeper. Sestu then hits Giuliatto on a run into the box and his shot is saved!! Our 0-1 defeat today was decided by the ref. He handed out a total of 11 yellow cards. 5' - Tormen runs out to cut off a long ball, but it rolls out of the penalty area and instead of kicking it clear Tormen decides to retreat back to his line and the Pro Sesto easily places the 25 yd. shot into the back of the empty net. 20' - Giuliatto sends his corner kick to the far post and Ferraro is there to receive the pass and finish for his first career goal. GOOOAAAALLLLLLL Belluno!!!! 39' - De Bortoli gets his pocket picked and Pro Sesto's Maiolo walzes into the box alone and he scores an easy goal. 40' - Kabine is forced to replace Sessolo who has picked up a minor knock, but he is getting worse. The half ends and we trail by a goal. We have been outshot 2-6 and possession is even. 68' - M. Amoroso comes on for Sestu in a move designed to provide some more attack. 89' - Mailo receives a long ball and he gets 1-on-1 with Tormen and he torches him again. The whistle blows and we disappoint the home fans with a 1-3 loss. Daniele Amoroso requested to be put on the TL again. I guess he does not like playing in the shadow of his brother. If he asks again, then he's gone. December 21, 2005 Daniele Tormen was issued an official warning in regards to his poor perfromance to date. He accepted the warning and said that it was just and deserved.
