Fantasy football player help/advice/discussion

Okay, I've seen at least a couple of FFL threads already, and there's always several throughout the year, so I'm hoping to have come up with a title that other people (if they're so inclined) can just toss there questions in behind as the year goes along. If that works out, great. If not, no biggie either.

I've got two teams, both with a lot of FA's available in the 8 team (Yahoo) league. In each case, I'm wondering if you see someone on my roster that you'd drop to pick up some of the FA's that are currently available.

Team 1
QB - P.Manning
WR - R. Moss
WR - D.Mason
WR - J.Porter
RB - C.Dillon
RB - K.Jones (DET)
TE - R.McMichael
K - M.Vanderjagt
DEF - Tennessee
-----
RB - L.Suggs
WR - R.Wayne
WR - J.Galloway
QB - J.Delhomme
TE - I.Mili
K - S.Janikowski

FA's include:
RB's Wheatley, E.Smith, J.Jones, McGahee, D.Foster, Dayne, Bettis,
QB's Gannon, Harrington, Bledsoe

--------------------------
Team 2

QB - P.Manning
WR - R. Moss
WR - S.Moss
WR - J.Porter
RB - B.Westbrook
RB - K.Jones (DET)
TE - R.McMichael
K - M.Vanderjagt
DEF - Tennessee
----
QB - M.Bulger
RB - E.George
TE - J.Witten
WR - Re.Williams (Jax)
WR - A.Lelie
DEF - Oakland

FA's again include:
RB's Wheatley, E.Smith, J.Jones, McGahee, D.Foster, Dayne, Bettis,
QB's Gannon, Harrington, Bledsoe

Okay experts, anybody see any obvious drops/adds here?

Personally, I wouldn't carry backups at TE/K and pick up someone when they have their bye week. By that time you drafted somebody you can cut.

I would pick up Wheatley since he is a starting RB. Of the rest, probably Julius Jones would rank the highest.

You seem pretty set on QBs, so even though I like Bledsoe this year, leave him there. I'd drop Mili on the first team, and pick up either Wheatley (who I don't like) or Julius Jones (who I do like, but isn't the starter, yet). Didn't Mili lose his job to Stevens already?

For the second team, I'd drop Witten for Julius Jones, as insurance to Eddie George if/when he loses his job.

I watched Witten play in two preseason games. He was a consistent target with some athletic ability after the catch. Parcell's offenses tend to utilize the TE's - I think he's got at least as much scoring potential as McMichael or Mili. If you like J Jones and want to double up on the Cowpokes for some reason, I'd drop Reggie Williams, who stunk up the preseason and looks several years away.

My turn for Week 2. Who do you start?

Mark Clayton (TB) vs. Reggie Wayne (IND)
Jerome Bettis (PIT) vs. Tyrone Wheatley (OAK)

I would def drop Mili from team 1. I don't mind keeping a TE on the bence but the other guy is surpassing him on the Seahwaks. i'd grab Emmitt to replace him.

team 2 looks good, if you want to only keep 1 te/d/k on your bence then you could drop Whitten for a RB but it's not nescessary

None of the above?

I guess Wayne and Wheatley.

Mili is listed as the backup in Seattle, but because Stevens has improved this year, and wrestled the starting position away, they're integrating a lot of 2 TE sets as Mili made quite an impression last year, so they don't want to just leave him on the bench.

I think for Mili/Stevens, it'll probably turn into a situation where one or the other does really well, or both do mediocre each week, only turning in good fantasy numbers maybe once every four games each.

I agree with rkmsuf. In most cases, you can find FA's better than all four.

I just dropped Bledsoe and picked up Gannon. I really like Bledsoe, but he seems like he is washed up. I hate to say it...Gannon looks good and I am happy to have him on my fantasy team. I don't like Weatley. Emmit would be a good pick up only because the Cards have NO OTHER RB. He is not going to have a good year, however. I would pick up D. Foster. He is going to get some touches in Car. See if you can make a trade. Some one might want Janikowski. Other wise drop him and Mili. Pick up Foster and Bledsoe, but there has to be some good WR in FA. I just picked up David Terrell. Pick up Foster and look for another WR.

Who do I start this week. Need two of the three.

Marshall Faulk Vs Atlanta
Jamal Lewis Vs Pitsburgh
Dominick Davis Vs Detroit

Last week I went with Faulk and Lewis, but Davis has been playing real well and last week Lewis sucked...

Faulk and Lewis. I could see Detroit laying a whoopin on the Texans.

Start Tiki Barber or Deshaun Foster this week? Can Tiki put up those numbers from week 1 again?

I found this statement interesting. My options for RB as FA are Lamont Jordan and Emmitt Smith. At WR my best options appear to be Givens and Patten from NE.

Wow, and here I thought having a starting tandem of Shaun Alexander and Stephen Davis with Brian Westbrook as a backup was going to be a strength on my team.

Anybody care to guess how Foster will do this week? I've got the choice of going with Alexander and Westbrook or subbing in either Kevin Jones or Foster for Alexander.

Thoughts, opinions?

Okay, for TE, I'm thinking of dropping Mili and pick up Freddie Jones or L.J. Smith. Which one is better?

lurker, is it a keeper league (and how many keepers) or a single season deal? L.J. is going to be very, very good, but he has Chad Lewis who can still perform, but Smith will probably put up good numbers this year, and be in the top 5 or 6 TE's next year.

If it's just for this season, I'd probably lean Jones' as I don't think he'll have the passes being taken away from him, at least until Boldin is back and they just go with those WR's all game long.

It's just for this season, not a keeper league. So it sounds like you're saying the two are fairly close, right?

Edit -- oh yeah, and thanks for your advice!
