Please clarify SE and FL....

I'm obviously wrong somewhere so anybody that knows where please tell me in as much detail as possible regarding the following....

Here I am thinking that the FL (Flanker is I'm correct) is the WR on the TE side/strong side of the formation (usually the right side if I'm correct?) and the SE (split end?) is the WR on the weak side.

When I have the A.I. recommend a defensive gameplan in FOF the game engine always suggests I focus more on the strong-side (as far as double-teams go), regardless of whether the opposing team's SE or FL has higher current attributes.

Please explain.

you are correct that in a standard formation the flanker lines up strong-side and the split end weak-side. I don't have the game in front of me, but I seem to recall that the AI will recommend double coverage on the side of the field where your lesser CB plays. Similarly, if you are having your top corner cover the other team's top receiver, it will recommend double coverage help for your lesser CB.

Thank you for clarifying.

In my case (which is also my first "career" in FOF) my two top CBs are pretty much equal in "Overall Ratings" and in their specific strengths so it's been hard to tell.

I hope I'm wrong but it seems to me that you can only "recommend" or not. I don't see a way to have the PC A.I. recommend while keeping my choice of CB/WR coverage. Is there a way?

Thanks for the info you've provided!

no, you have to recommend then change the orientation manually. Usually the AI recommends to orient by side of formation, but sometimes when you play a team with one very good WR and one very bad WR it will recommend to orient by WR covered. There's no one right way to do it. Part of the fun is trying different coverages and seeing which ones work best for you.

So, what side does the FL/SE play in the flexbone formation? There's 5 linemen, 2 HB and 1 FB in the backfield, and no TE's. Guess it really doesn't matter in this case, except that it affects the side that the FB/RB is on.
