Far Cry?
I thought I saw a good review in GameSpot. Anyone tried this yet and if so, how is it?
Sorry about all of the 'inquiring' threads lately. My wife got me a gift card for Easter and I'm trying to figure out which game it would be best spent on. |

Far Cry got a 9.2 on Gamespot if I recall correctly and the review was extremely complimentary. If I liked FPS much, I would have been very tempted to get the game based on the review.

I got this game but have only played it for a couple hours since I got it. Im waiting for another patch to come out before I get into it. As advertised the graphics are great, but also as advertised, you need a good machine to run this game on medium settings. I have a P4 2.6 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, and a 9800 Radeon Pro and the configurator recommended I run it at medium settings. However, I've turned all the video options to their highest settings and the game runs fine.
My one gripe about the game is the AI awareness, although it may seem like it, this is not a stealth game. The enemy will see you a mile away even if your crouched behind a bush. This kinda dings the realisim a bit, and its the major issue I'm hoping gets tweaked in the next patch. I know it's a FPS and your supposed to go out blasting, but the odds can go against you very quickly when your up against a small army. If you like FPS, and have a machine that can handle it I would recommend getting it. |
