FBCB: I can't believe what I've been missing!

I've been simming every game as I've been anxious to build UNO and now my Colorado State roster. Well, my team just made it to the big show as a number 6 seed in the midwest and I'm now simming out my first game ever. I love how the play-by-play is done. The flow of the basketball seems very realistic and the descriptors give me a nice sense of how the ball is being passed and where the players are moving. I'm going to be seriously tempted to watch/coach all of my games next year.

I'd definately recommend it. It's what I've been doing for my last couple of teams, and It's a lot of fun. Just last night I was down by 12 with 6 minutes left, before my team started going steal crazy, cashing the steals in for three pointers at the other end. Next thing I know, it's 77-77 with 12 seconds left, opponents ball. Their PG brings it up court, my freshman SG steals the ball, runs it back and slams it home for the win! I was jumping all over the place and cheering out loud!

i coach everyone of my games out. very addictive and gets you in the game Eagles. you feel like you are actually coaching a team and have some sort of control over what might happen. great fun...until you hit your hand on the desk and it hurts....

Yeah, I just finished coaching my first game in my first FBCA tournament

It was a lot of fun as I jumped on the 11 seed 25-5. I then was able to bring in my backups to get some work and we cruised to a 81-64 victory. It took a while but was great fun. I'm definitely going to coach all of my games next year. I never realized my PG is such a shoot first guy (least he was in this one tournament game.)

see here lies the problem you will now have. your dilemna of leaving your team before has just not gotten much harder as you will develop a "cyber" relationship with your players. are you ready for that?

I've already got my favorite scape goat. My PG Roland "me first" Perrone. He is shooting way too quick and not passing nearly enough for a PG. He was a big reason we lost to Stanford in the 2nd round of the tournament as he shot 4-21. Granted he was a .470 FG shooter and hit 48% of his 3 pointers this year and was our leading scorer at 15.3 ppg, but he should have passed more in this game as he didn't have his shot. We lost 84-70. I figure if he just hit a few more shots, or he just passed some more to his stud wingmen then we would have won. If this PG I just recruited looks nearly as good on campus as he did when we were recruiting him, least I will have a viable alternative to Perrone if he forgets how to shoot and/or pass.

At first I held off from coaching games individually because I had no clue what I was doing, but now that I've figured things out a bit, I've been holding off coaching games because I'm afraid it will give me too much of an advantage over the computer. Any thoughts from people who are coaching the game whether this is true or not?

I don't know about coaching games, but when I've quicksimmed without matching up my lineup with opponents, I'm just getting mauled. I don't think it gives you a huge advantage to coach yourself.

i dont look at it as an advantage at all. many times im coaching a game against a team i "think" i should beat easily and im completely baffled at how they are playing me as they hang with me all game or beat me. i think if you look at it as you are the coach and TRYING to find weaknesses in your opponent and exploiting them you will be fine. in the NIT tourney last season, i shouldnt of won the games i won against Tennessee or LSU, but i found some weaknesses and gut extremely lucky on some things and won.

i will say ive learned to look for certain things when im scouting my opponent and attack it, but i think that is no different than a scout, scouting an opponent and attacking that.
