Maybe not unconnected, the betting on Poyet being next manager of Fulham has gone from 30-1 to 2-1 in the last few days.

Thats it in a nutshell - much ado about nothing imho; theres a 2.1m UKP contract clause which is payable if he's poached before the end of his contract - all Brighton are doing is ensuring that nothing untoward happens .... all Poyet is doing is trying to land the job he wants.

(as such this is 'standard practice' pretty much in such a case to minimise the chance of him taking players etc. with him - normally it doesn't get so much attention tbh, must be a slow news day )

PS - I was thinking he's a better match for Everton than Fulham myself ....

So play it at White Hart Lane - nobody has home advantage there, the locals hate both teams. Or play it at just about any other Premiership ground in London.

I'd probably be more inclined to give the FA credit on this if they hadn't already left the FA Cup finalists with a very narrow window to catch their trains home. As is, this is their second strike in a month, and they've not had that many matches to arrange.

So where is David Beckham going to put his expansion team? I love that he got that written into his contract for a measly $25m.

Can't be NY, he was deliberately excluded from New York.

I can see him negotiating a sweetheart deal to buy Chivas USA, who's rumored to be on the block..

Far from it imho - I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him pop up at Man City myself ....

He probably smells 'weakness' in the Premiership, its got to be one of the most open seasons going next season:

Normal Top 4
Man City - managerless but wadges of cash
Chelsea - managerless but wadges of cash
Arsenal - consistent management but still no huge wadges of cash being spent
Man Utd - new manager but losing some key players, some cash available

The 'Rest'
Liverpool - Reforming, definite progress being made imho - but still a ways to go before they're true challengers (lack of consistency - especially in defense)
Everton - new manager
Tottenham - in good position to take advantage

So basically at the moment he could walk into Chelsea which is a club in turmoil where he had problems with the Chairman previously ... or he could go to City where he'd probably not have issues on that scope and rub it into the Chelsea chairman that he made the wrong decision.

Next season I can see the Premiership being VERY interesting, Spurs are in with their best shot in years of making the Champions League (if they keep their side together), Liverpool have shown signs of improvements this season so a few good signings could give them a run at things .... Everton's new manager will need to hit the road running and get a few results from the get go or things could turn bad fast (frankly their squad isn't the greatest, they need confidence and a good tactical setup - if their manager loses their belief then the wheels will fall off).

Txiki picked Pep over Mourinho the last time he had a choice. And reading between the lines says he wants someone that knows his role in the scheme of things and not a headline-stealing power man like Mourinho.

Pretty sure its Man City, so if you were planning to see two teams play who won something in the last year, you're out of luck.

Six hours into their existence, 20 months before they kick a ball in anger, and NYCFC is already the most hated team in the league. That takes talent
