Fucking flop by Paul and it just sucks to see Lebron hit that shot which was just an amazingly stupid one.

I was wondering when the fouls were coming.

Shouldn't all these intentional fouls by Spain have been called unsportsmanlike by now? I mean Iguodala got one because Fernandez shot himself in the chest, but Span just stands there grabbing guys and it's not unsportsmanlike?

No, thank you. Didn´t say it wasn´t a foul. It was still a flop. As said, Spain never had a prayer at stopping the US on their end playing basically 3 guard lineups and zone defense. In that light, shooting 3s was a good move by the US (just a few too many obviously, when guarded by a big man those are just low percentage)

Yeah, I know that Pau has never fouled anyone in his life, but he was really close there.

Agree wholeheartedly on the Lebron shot- I mean, geez: crazy stupid 3 with 1 second on the shot clock and it goes it. I hate when players are rewarded for stupid with luck. I went back on the DVR and checked out that foul as I thought it was a flop but Pau was still moving quite a bit when Paul got there. I thought it was a bad call at first but looking at it a second time, it was clearly a moving screen. SI

NBC always fails at olympics. So many quick cuts and edits and not letting us watch an entire event or anything. Quote:
I too like this plan since USAball is all about fast paced and running and such. Just get them mad and off tgheir game. It was working for awhile. I also heard that international ball is typically a lot more physical (perhaps almost dirty) especially in the olympics and was the chief reason the US voted to allow proballers to play in the olympics. (cause they used to get killed) |

The announcers pointed out that the coaches (of basketball) don't get medals. (as they were talking about what's his name). Made me think, hmm... that's true. and no coach/trainer gets medals. It would probably be nice if they started giving out something to the coaches of winners too. Maybe a miniature version of the medal or replica or special trophy or something.

Which I find incredibly interesting since the initial thought of most american basketball to European basketball players coming over to the NBA is how they will adjust to the physicality of the NBA game. Some players on both teams would be waiting for fines and suspensions from David Stern if this was the NBA.

If you gave out medals to coaches you would be adding thousands, if not tens of thousands of extra medals. The basketball coaches have been working together with the players for a matter of weeks, but in many of the other sports the coaches may have been working day to day with the athletes for the whole 4 years cycle. |

Modern Pentathlon is kindof an awesome idea. The third event (horse riding) is on now. Previous was fencing and swimming. Next up the combined shooting and running event for the gold.

okay closing ceremony...
REALLY? WTF that's not the Who. I actually expected to see them. Was cool seeing Nick Mason and MIke Rutherford but the kid singing Wish YOu Were HEre...bleh. No feeling. And Russell Brand? WTF??? What a strange strange show. Liked the octopus though. And once they started with the hiphop dance crap I quickly tuned out. |

It's getting dark... (and I can't even throw on the olympic basketball or soccer channels to help me sleep, the channels have gone dark) I miss the games. ![]()

My wife got mad at me last night because I wanted to watch the replay of the Colts game instead of the closing ceremonies.
I was at the game. She watched it on tv. What was the point in watching it again? Because Andrew Luck is the mother fucking man! That's why!!

Luckily my wife didn't care. We watched some stuff we had recorded. I turned it on for like 30 seconds and saw a scene that I can't even describe, let alone figure out what it had to do with the Olympics. And the sound was bad, too. Couldn't even hear the guy singing.

Agreed. They are all about some fancy artistic expression thing, rather than about the athletes, and have grown vastly overblown. How much money could be saved by doing something much simpler?

Hey, if the athletes liked it, good for them. It's still a waste of a truckload of money, but I think that should account for something too.
