I payed $28,000 US. I am training playmaking and thought he'd be a good prospect for a midfielder with a little training. Thoughts?

probably a little much, but if you are going to train playmaking forever and don't have plans on moving up this season, but next season he should be solid/solid.
I'm in Division 6 and 2nd place in my group. I'm not sure what the rules are for moving up to Division 5, so I don't know what the chances are that I get promoted this year.

Bee - You have to finish #1 in your group. If you're in the top half of #1's from Division 6, you automatically promote. If you're in the bottom half, you have to play a relegation match against a lower Division 5 Team (who finished #5 or #6 in their group). If you win that, you promote.

let's see... Let's assume he is in the middle between poor and weak in playmaking, that you have a solid coach, are training at 100%, with the optimal number of assistants (8/2). It's common knowledge that a player pops in 7 weeks if he's 17, 8 weeks if he's 18.
A player halfway between poor and week, so that's about 4 weeks to get to week. Another 7 to get to inadequate. These are the last 10 weeks of the present season and the first week of next season. in the middle are the 2 weeks of offseason where we usually train stamina/general/set pieces. Then another 9 weeks (player has aged in the process) to get to passable and then another 9 weeks to get to solid. This pushes us to the the 4th week of the following season (14 + 4). So, therotically, this player would be passable in playmaking about 4 weeks before the end tof next season, and solid about 4-5 weeks into the following season...
Was he a bargain, probably not, but that's just me. I'm not a very patient guy and I see passing as a secondary skill anyway... He should add some power to your central attack though...

That's not going to happen. The guy who's #1 is kicking everyone's butt. I figure I'll finish 2nd. :(

Which would mean you will be having bonus money coming your way at the end of the year. I can definitely think of far worse things than to get free money during weeks when you have no league games.

On a related note, Bee, I will be selling Dan Hatton soon possibly.

I wouldn't have bought a poor playmaker for more than $1k... he would have made an okay forward trainee if he was 17.
Good luck with him!
