Spring Training is complete.

1st half of the season starts on Tuesday night. Have an enjoyable weekend. For the newbies -- not that you're dealing -- but in the off-chance you were -- the trade deadline is essentially on Monday night and then you can't make a deal again until between the 1st and 2nd half break.

But no one ever trades around here, so I guess I won't worry about it until it happens. ;)

The expansion teams will pick 3, 4, 5, 6 in this year's draft. I used a list randomizer on random.org to pick the order:

There were 4 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

Hilton Head (3rd)
Wichita Falls (6th)
Gettysburg (4th)
Lake Tahoe (5th)
Timestamp: 2012-07-28 05:36:21 UTC

Since I'm commish, I'll pick 4th among these teams automatically.

Panzzer had to drop out, because he had family issues to tend to. He'd be welcomed back if he decides he has time for OOTP in the future.

We're very lucky to add to our recent string of all-star owners, with ekcut joining us and he'll be taking over the Winnemucca franchise starting this year. He's been around the fast-sim game since the early years, has earned his stripes in FOOL and now he'll be joining us in SLOP.

So give him a hearty welcome!

Anyone interested in a winter league that would take place during the weekend of the off-season. Nothing especially intense, just a way to develop some prospects and otherwise gets guys some work.

An idea that occurred to me on my run today and I thought I'd post and see if anyone was remotely intrigued.

You had that problem because I was putting up a new file just now because of a 2nd trade that went down, because my internet is super slow today for whatever reason.

Try again now, it should be fine.

Considering how bad Lake Tahoe started the year, the fact they only lost 135 games is impressive.

Brooklyn heads for a chance at their 3rd straight NL pennant, after Carolina preceded them in doing the same. In fact, since Carolina won their first pennant in '45, they've won five (claiming 2 Series titles along the way) and the only thing standing in Brooklyn's way is the last team to attempt to win three straight titles.

In the AL, Syracuse looks to repeat as AL champ, while Memphis seeks their first pennant since '46. It's not for a lack of trying, it'll be their third straight ALCS appearance. Just can't seem to get over the hump.

Knowing this audience, I doubt it'll be the case...but if there's a clamoring for some kind of play-in game between the 2nd and 3rd place teams in each league, that's something we can implement for next year.

I didn't figure there would be any real clamoring for it though. Just saying...

Charlie Taylor logs 29 wins at age 38. Pedro Villegas of Rio Grande goes 28-10 after never winning more than 16 games before (and that was during his rookie year.)

Should be interesting to see how things normalize with the expansion teams (presumably) getting better in the future.

Charlie Taylor was on the mound for Memphis and friends..when you put a guy who won 29 games out there, well...things tend to go his way.

He pitched a complete game, giving up 8 hits, 1 earned and striking out 5. The Smokers are Series champs after almost giving away a huge Series lead and have claimed their 3rd title in franchise history.

They also prevented Brooklyn's attempt at SLOP's first three-peat. Only San Diego ('49-'51), Brooklyn ('53-55) and Carolina ('50-52) have appeared in three-straight Classics and no team had ever won two straight with a chance at a 3rd before these Titans attempted the feat.

But it was not to be...despite getting so close after being down so far!

Charlie Taylor, at the age of 38, claimed his first-ever AL Pitcher of the Year award this year. Chris Ross was gunning for his 5th at the age of 28.

We'll sim to the start of free agency on Monday night. You can use this last file as a chance to offer any extensions to any of your guys. Also, if you release someone with years left on their deal..let me know or else it'll affect your ability to sign other guys going forward.

Heck of a season.

We'll be in the off-season this upcoming week, as a reminder to the new guys:

WED: FA2
THUR: FA3/Sim to start of ST
FRI: FA4/Sim ST/sim to start of season

File is up. Congrats to our champs!

Only five guys have thrown no-hitters in SLOP history. Two of the hurlers who did it played for San Diego, two played for Chicago and one for New York.

John Walton through the 1st-ever no-no during the 1st season of SLOP. He retired after that 1st year. The following year, recently inducted Hall of Famer Will Allen threw one for San Diego.

It took five years for the next one, this time by Jean Gilles in '44 for the defunct New York Americans. Gilles is still active, playing for Hilton Head and has 197 career wins and a pitcher of the year award to his credit. He's not anywhere near HOF material or anything, but has been a solid pitcher.

The most dubious guy was three years later in '47 when Jose Gonzales used one of the three starts he made that entire year to throw the first perfect game in SLOP history for Chicago. He struck out just two batters in that game against Winnemucca. Gonzales has bounced between the majors and AAA for most of his career since then.

Later that year, teammate Bobby Foster struck out ten and walked just one against Brooklyn, throwing his first no-hitter and the last one ever thrown to date...which is now dating back eight years and counting.
