any advice to get started on superstar?

I had the same problem. Then I realized you not only had to get a job, but remember to go to work on time too. :) Other than that, practice every waking/non-working moment untill you get your music skill to 20. Once its at 20 you can get gigs at the club which will bring in some decent cash.

I'd still like to hear how Axxon is doing, as right now my rock persona is living in a motel, using public transportation, and drumming cover tunes at the local bars as much as he can to get by. (It scares me how much this mimics my early twenties. ;) )

Ok, well you really don't need to do that Eilim but it does help.

I've also lived on the street, practiced my butt off and begged for all my food needs. :) You can also just rob guys but you need to be a big physical guy for that to be viable and paying the bribes in jail sucks hard at the beginning.

Just remember, every night at midnight you get charged your living expenses charge ( under the personal.life tab ) This starts at beggar level and costs $5 a day. Remember to beg borrow or steal before midnight and you won't starve.

Eilim, I learned the hard way but once you are a club band run, don't walk to suburbia and fill in your band. All band expenses are split between all the band members so you want to fill a squad quick and you'll be able to cut albums and videos ( not to mention draw WAAAY more fans ) a lot sooner.

You don't have to work EVERY day. Every other day won't get you fired and you can push it to every third day once in a while. Don't push it if you like your job though. :)

Also you have a one hour grace period before and after the "start time" and rarely but definately I've been even later ( not by much ) and it lets me work. When in doubt ( as in your job or eating hehe ) give it a shot. Coming in early can really help too. For example I once had a job which finished at 18:00. I'd go in an hour early on gig nights and finish up at 17:00. Then I'd hit the club in time to chug some alcohol ( cut the tiredness from the job - you DO NOT want to gig tired. ) and get in some fights ( I was a bad ass that game - helped my mood ). Once I was drunk and beligerant I'd put on a show that drove them wild!!!!

After you have some money yor really don't need to sleep any more. You can chemically stave off sleeping and if you're writing new music there's a really cool way to rest and improve creativity at the same time. Have fun finding it but if you REALLY want the spoiler let me know. :)

well i have starved to death,
gone crazy, and died from exhaustion
but i think i am finally starting to get a handle on things
i got a part time job(after reading your dynasty) the job doesn't cause my stress or tiredness levels to go up much at all, my prior jobs would wreck my day, although i only get 18 bucks for my troubles my vocals are getting close to 40 with my practice

Whoa!!

40, waay too much. You should be doing gigs once you hit 20. You need to party or rest to lower stress and if you are exhausted rest asap. You should have an album or two out before your vocals get that high. It's not necessary to push it like you did but I'd be curious to see how it goes sacrificing yourself like you're doing. :)

hehe.. I'm having a blast with this game.. Just started raking in the fans through some.. trickery. :) I'm level 5 or so, but think I'm still rated a "1 star" talent but have 3 other bandmembers who are 5 star caliber and are just pulling in a bunch of fans. About to hit the studio and cut my first album and music video. :)

Before shooting the video throw a party and get everybody happy. I've made three and four star videos with one star talent when everybody's happy working together. It really helps and it's fun too!!!

its called superstar there is a demo on the underdogs the full game is only 6 bucks and so far its alot of fun

When I am in Windows and try to run the game, I get an error message "display mode: out of range." I tried changing the resolution but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

Try patching the game and see if it helps. The patch can be found here: http://www.angelfire.com/indie/dc5/superwin.zip I got the same error under WindowsXP until I patched.

got my vocals up to 100 and did a few gigs and now i am level 2, i have yet to write a song that gets any star rating, do you get the star rating automatically or do you have to play it at a gig?

Also so a group debut at #1, wish i was their singer

game is alot of fun so far
