I basically only really started playing with my team over the weekend and while I'm starting to understand what the heck I'm supposed to do, I think I should atleast ask you guys what direction you guys think I should go with my team.

What should I train this week? Any players standout to you guys? Any players I should just go ahead and fire?

What type of formation are you running? If your running a 3-5-2 you probably want to train playmaking. If your running a 4-5-1 you can either train defending or playmaking. I would look at the best young players you have (you dont have a young team unfortantely) and go from there.

Fire:

Mikey Gaffney
Toby Gee
Giampaolo Luciani

There are about 3 others that should be fired probably, but those guys I mentioned are no-brainers.

Emmett Peoples is an all-around player. Whatever you decide to train, make sure he gets trained.

You only have one player under 21 worth keeping, so you'd be best off deciding on what YOU want to train, then go out and get some 17-18 yr old players that suit your training.

Be consistent in your training, try not to switch it every week like I did last season;)

After you have decided what to train, get rid of the 21-23 yr old players in other positions by selling them and getting 24-28 yr old players (or older) for cheap.

Very interesting strategy, but I can agree with that.

I saw that most of my guys have low stamina and I know stamina is pretty important once you get into the second half. Should I go ahead and train for Stamina then or do you guys suggest skill training first?

Dola--

I'm still not sure which formation I want to mold my team into. I'm still in the learning process so I'm looking into the positives and negatives of them all

Form training wouldn't hurt sometime either. When? That's someone else's question.

you should train stamina this week, it goes to everyone so it does not matter who plays, and it is also very important to the 2nd half of games. You have 2 very good forwards; Enric Echague & Billy Clayton- so it would probably be better to run a 3-5-2.

I think the first thing you should decide is how you will be building your team.

If you read Ardent's dynasty, you'll see that he went the direction of offense. If you read DataKing's dynasty, you'll see that he went the direction of defense. Horned . . . well, he just went with a really muddy pond and some ugly socks. But that's another story.

Once you have decided upon the direction you want to go with, then it's time to analyze your team and see what you need to do. Do you have excess at any position that you can sell to give you additional "startup money" (besides the 300 000 you start out with and the 200 000 debt)? If so, consider selling them. Then assess what you have and what you need. One important thing to do is to remain competitive - to continue to build your supporter club - while building up a solid foundation.

To that end, inadequate and passable players should do just fine for you. As Vex said, 27-29 year old players will be cheaper to buy and will make good fill-in/placeholders for positions you are not training. The other task, of course, is finding trainees for the positions you are working on. The ones that turn out well will hopefully become a part of your starting foundation. The excess will be used to fund other things (other positions, stadium upgrades, booze).

As Doug5984 said, stamina is huge. It's one of the primary ratings for midfield and is very important for defense. You could do worse than to spend a fair chunk of time training stamina to start with. For one, it trains everyone regardless of whether or not they play. A nice thing while you scour the transfer wire for cheap trainees. The other thing is that it can steal some wins for you in late games.
