5 more years for Thomas.
WQAM's Orlando Alzugaray is reporting the Dolphins have signed All-Pro linebacker Zach Thomas to a 5-year contract extention thru the 2008 season. The deal includes a 6 million dollar signing bonus this year, and a club option roster bonus of 4.5 million in 2004. The deal gives the team an additional 3.7 million dollars under the cap, opening up around 4.5 million under this years cap.
The club option for 2004 can be voided if Zach suffers a season or career ending inury, Thomas will have an insurance policy that would cover him just in case he suffers a career threatning injury replacing the teams 2004 club option bonus.
Last season Thomas led the team with 195 tackles (124 solo), it's the 7th time in his career he's reached the 100 tackle plateau. The former Red Raider is entering his eight season as a Dolphin, last season he earned his fourth trip to Honolulu representing Miami in the Pro Bowl.
