Need some help

Im trying to figure out who NY or Compton Drafted in the first round of the 1966 Draft.

The Trade im trying to reveiw is

New York sends:

SP William Kay
RF Henry "Goat" McKinney
New Yorks draft pick for 1966

Compton sends:

2b Sancho Lopez
SP Jose Gonzalez
SP Guus Barthen


Im just having a hard time figuring out the draft history. Maybe they meant 1977 first round draft pick? Also I cant figure out who it was cause it looked like they both drafted and shouldnt have? any suggestions? Can anyone figure out the draft history in game?

It was definitely the 1966 draft.

I couldn't find a name for you, but my guess is it wasn't someone worth anything. No first rounder for New York in 1966 is left in the league. Since that's only ten years ago, including development, that's not good.

Also, that was the first year of the draft, when older non-developed Vulture League "prospects" snuck into the draft, which was AI drafted (we hadn't really discovered the Draft List utility yet).

That was the year a bunch of us ended up with 27 year old "superstar prospects" who never developed. First and second rounders were eventually "saved" by having their ages turned back, but a lot of that draft was just crap. My guess is Compton didn't get much out of that pick (which was 15th overall anyway).

An interesting side story to this if anyone is ever able to do the research would be whatever happened to those players whose ages were turned back? Did they still develop? Did they do nothing? I remember that neither of those picks amounted to much for me, although I pretty much knew from the start that the #1 pick would suck.

I have an old save file from 1969, but I could not find a player on Compton's roster that could have been drafted in 1966. I found plenty that were signed. I have a feeling DC's draft scuked like the rest of ours, and he just released the players he got.

I didnt even think about that. You very well may be correct Sir. Im starting to remember that year now as you said everyones draft sucked that year. All older guys, and we were still working the kinks out of the draft.
