Does anybody know of an online poker room whose software offers hotkey support? ie type f = fold, that sort of thing?

None of the big ones in the US do but you can use AHK scripts to basically give you that functionality. If you play on full tilt there is a program called "Full Tilt Shortcuts" that is pretty powerful(FT Shortcuts (http://www.windyhilltech.com/poker/fts). That program isn't free, but I use it and would give it a good review.
I think there are some free scripts available for stars that might give you one key press for fold or call(and raise in limit games) but I haven't played on Stars at all this year and never had anything like that set up. Unless someone here knows, you'd be best off probably searching through the Software forum on 2+2, there is I tihnk an AHK FAQ with a list of the most popular scripts people have written.

Thanks, I'll check that out. If anybody here is in the habit of writing free scripts, what I'd like is f = fold, c = check or call, and tab takes me into the raise box, so I can type in my raise.
The biggest collection of AHK scripts for online poker:

I haven't used them in a while, but I believe Absolute Poker has them. I think the hardest thing about using the hot keys was the bet increments.

I've gotten checks from them in the past. Don't think I ever used another method.

A buddy of mine got a check from Stars within the last 3 weeks and said he got it in ~5 days and cashed itwithout any troubles, so checks at the moment at least are looking like a good option.

I got 2nd in a $16.50 tourney with just under 1600 people. Where would you guys suggest going and cashing these checks? Is it ok to go to my bank?

I read that at first as you got $16.50 and I'm thinkng, "Why even bother cashing out"? But your win was substantially larger. Congrats. And yes I think it's fine for you to go to your bank, though with that payday I believe your bank needs to report it to the Federal government. But I'm not sure about that.

Your bank wil cash it fine. The checks don't make any reference to them being from Poker Stars.
Barkeep,
Unless you aren't paying your taxes, why would it matter if they report it to the IRS. You are going to be reporting it yourself to the IRS.
Bumping this thread instead of starting a new one. Anyone have any interest in $30 on poker stars for $30 on paypal? Let me know if you are interested.

Out of interest while I'm unlikely to ever win anything at online poker - especially not on that magnatude ...
How do such things operate in America, are people allowed to offset their 'losses' from previous lost tournaments against the tax on the winnings or is it seen as a sucker bet?(ie. they tax you if you win, if you lose its your fault so don't bother us and try to offset your losses ;) )

If you keep records, you are able to deduct the amount of your losses up to the total amount you won. So if you lost more than you won, you are out the difference.

Interesting quandry ... how to prostitutes and drug dealers file their taxes while I'm wondering? .... (although I suppose a prostitute could put herself down as an hourly contractor or whatever) ....
Ok its early in the morning, I need coffee ...

This isn't a question of IF you keep records or not. You are required to claim your winning sessions and deduct your losing sessions. As far as the IRS is concerned it is not acceptable to just enter the aggregate total. Now not everyone does that of course, but they are going to have some problems if they get audited.

If by "it" you mean online poker, "it" isn't illegal in the US unless you live in the state of Washington.

And it actually still doesn't matter. Even if it were illegal, you would still be required to pay income taxes on it.

So you're saying that, once again, you didn't win?
I stand by my statement.
