I find it really interesting that, as of this post, perhaps the most dominant offensive force on the planet is still unsigned to an extension for next year.

I wonder how a guy would do jumping up from A ball to the majors as a starting pitcher? I may find out this year, at least in spring training. SP Pepe Santana seems to have improved a little.

If his ratings and abilities are good enough, he should be fine. Check out Carlos Gonzales on my team, he is a starting pitcher that went from HS to AAA. I debated about throwing him into the majors though at the time. His AAA season was a bit rocky, but this year he was an all star at age 20.
I had another guy Sam Harmon (catcher now plays for Compton) that I did something similar with. Went directly from college to the pros, never played in the minors. His first two years were passable but nothing great, but this year for Compton was his break out year and he played well..
So if your guy has good enough ratings, it might be worth a shot for you at least.

Congrats Allpro! On a side note do certain boxscore links not appear for you? Every boxscore I click on is a 1966 box score not 1967. In addition I noticed a player was signed by Compton in my news but it said he was happy to go to St. Louis? Just some oddities I thought I would see if I am alone in experiencing them or if others see the same things.

I might give it a shot, spring training is locked in for the guy for sure at the least. My #5 starter was a rookie who isn't living up to expectations since I signed him a few years back now. I was thinking of dropping him down to AAA and bringing up another rookie for the 5 slot. This guy night as well get a shot. Pepe Santana dominated at A in '67, with an 18-2 record, 1.42 ERA, 24 walks to 202 Ks and an OAVG of .169, so the guy is at the least starting in AAA. Three 'green' ratings have me wanting him in the majors though.

Uploading the file now. Sorry that I again forgot to include the entire seasons' worth of box scores. I turn off All during the off-season to reduce file size and forgot to turn it on in a mad dash to get you all the file. But all the box scores and such alike are all there now.
In any case, file is going up now and you should get all of your messages and whatever else coming to you for major league type things, for the offseason that is upon us.
Happy Free Agent Day!

There are some pretty big names on the market this year. Probably the "biggest" free agent market we've seen ever. Should be interesting where the chips fall and who gets where and how it helps them, I'd say.
Just another rant that screams I have no idea what the hell im doing. 3 out of the 4 top free agents are or were from hartford this year........

DC you do these, or did the AI do them? Pretty solid choices IMO...... Nolan gets his second straight MVP for Hartford
Young Drachma

I did everything except the rookie of the year, since it was my guy that got picked for the RL, even though he was probably the top choice, I let the AI decide on that one and they picked him, so I let it stand. But I picked the rest, because the AI values VORP much too highly and doesn't pick using "real" eyes, etc.
And I never picked the Best Nine, because I'm too lazy to bother.

Glad to see Lopez and Maddox in the running for rookie of the year. The young guys really stepped up last season, and now they've got a year under their belt. My SS Osario in particular, who hit .205 for the season last year, was hitting .250 in August and September...

Tell just out of curiosity what was he asking from you?
He asked for a three year deal worth 15.51 million per. I wouldn't give it to him.
Of course he's only asking for 10 mil over 6 years now. Just find it interesting that the best rated hitter on the market is only valueing himself at 10 mil a season, given that he was making 15.48 the season before.

My take is that he's the best player in the game and that he's still got some years left in him, but you have to wonder about the later years of that deal and how he'll hold up.
Strange too, is how many young catchers we have floating around the league. I remember when there were none and now it seems everybody seems to have one.
But he's a difference maker and with the DH finally showing up in RL land, he could surely make someone a contender with his bat.

That does seem cheap, but I doubt its gonna be in the 10-12 range that gets him. Gonna be real interested to see who takes the plunge on him and for how many years

With less than 30 minutes to go before we kick off the free agency period (I'm eager!), I gotta say that this got to be the Golden Age in FOOL. Never before have we had so many teams who are 1) thinking they're in the race or 2) positioning themselves to be competitive. It's really a fun and exciting situation for the league.
Next year will be great as we finally get our scheduling situation intact, too, because I'm intrigued to see how the new leagues shape up and how the league is affected by the DH, etc.
Should be awesome.

Gotta say (file is packing...) that Colorado made some shrewd moves to burnish what they're hoping is a run at the RL title this year. Really smart to give a kid that young a deal like that, get the good years out of 'em and then get rid of 'em. Really shrewd. I think paying a middle reliever as much as they did was strange, but..short of that, smart stuff.
Rio Grande gets the coup getting Tanaka to go south, let's hope that's the only thing that goes south for him.
Gotta say I'm thrilled to have Joe Morris back. I hope that he rewards my faith in him with some strong seasons in LA.

I have a question about the draft. Would it be possible to do our own draft lists in game using the builtin utility for those of us that choose to do so since the list can be auto-complied by scouts or not filled in at all for those not wishing to select their first few rounds.

Yes, you can do your own draft lists in-game. But not until the draft appears and it won't appear until after the pre-season starts. No matter what, you all will have 24 hours to complete your draft lists before we start the draft, so don't worry about it happening again without at least getting a chance to make sure you get some say in who your team picks.

Downloading the file still, but YES!!! I got Tanaka? I love that, he was really the only big name I was going after that I remember, with some of the other stars being at spots where I wanted some youngsters to come up and play.
C though has been a slight pain for me. My starter over several years now has actually played better the last couple of seasons and I have been happy with him but Tanaka is a major upgrade. I started right away trying to bring young guys into the system and so far none have worked out really. Tanaka is a great guy to see sign with the Roadrunners.

Rio Grande got another guy they wanted, MR Justin Barr from CGO. Not a star, but a solid looking guy to help the bullpen.
We also got Juan Navarro who will be interesting to watch and has a good shot at making the major league roster as Jose Rivera runs off to Colorado (of course). Navarro is officially my first (the league's first? or did someone else get one?) player from the vulture league, coming from the Cardinals. Few starts, but good ratings it seems and he ripped it up in the vulture league at 20 years old.

The All-Star game is scheduled for September 16th, the day after the end of the regular season. The game never did a traditional all-star break anyway, so...this is a nice way to end the year before the postseason begins. I'll turn fatigue off for that day and push the FOOL Classic games back a few days in the schedule to ensure that no one gets hurt by their guys playing in the Classic. But this lets the All-Star game become a showcase of the league's best talent, rather than a mid-season afterthought.

The RL is gonna be brutal. I think both leagues will be tight this year in the standings, as the better teams didn't make a ton of whole sale moves, but lots of other teams have some younger players getting better or have made moves to keep pace.

Yes, we will post the player for consideration here and then we'll all vote. It'll take a majority of the votes cast -- with at least 9 owners voting -- to induct someone into the hall.
Dunno if we wanna have a waiting period of a few years or not.
I'll serve as the Hall of Fame museum for the purposes of deciding what hat a player goes into the Hall with, though it'll be pretty easy for most of our longer term guys. And yes, I know how to get the jerseys on them after their retire and to freeze it so they "look their best" befitting a Hall of Fame plaque.
Thats a pretty sweet feature. I had no idea we could do that.

Not really a feature in the traditional sense. What I end up doing is, putting the guy on a minor league team and changing their logo to fit that of the major league club, so the guy can wear it for his induction and freeze the picture and then put him off their roster and he stays retired throughout. More like a "loophole."

Yikes, that is pretty bad :) I have like 10-12 guys to resign now (I already resigned a handful last sim). The majority of my guys now though are older minor league players that are getting near put up or shut up time though so likely won't get resigned. I like having people become minor league free agents at this age instead of closer to 30 personally!
