The season is over. We'll have the end of season poll, hand out sanctions, see if there's any sabotage, and determine a winner. Remember to place your votes carefully -- if there's a tie, we'll vote one more time, which means that the game will go on another day, people may be outed as their roles based on the Public Poll, and we'll hand out another set of sanctions and sabotage.
Also, since there are no games left to throw, you will not be able to use any of your individual powers.

I knew that stupid conference championship was a bad idea.
For anyone interested in knowing, I successfully threw my conference championship game today. I suggested prior to the start of conference play that we should throw all of our conferences games to one team and then have that team throw the conference championship to get one team as many points as possible and also be eligable for the at-large bid. Barkeep was never on board with the idea.

Vote Mr. Wednesday
He's a known Catholic. Barkeep won our conference so he isn't eligable for the at-large bid. Voting for Mr. Wednesday will knock him out of the top 5 in the computer rankings and replace him with jeheinz who is most likely loyal to his conference. Since there aren't any games, Mr. Wednesday can't block this one.

He has the most points , so is most liekley to beat ND (dont they get an automatic bid?) and I threw my game to ensure NTN won the conference and didnt get the at large (incase he was bad), but Im convinced you are bad, so I dont want you in the at large, so vote you :D

Realistically, I think you, claphamsa, Mr. Wednesday, and I are still in the running. Also, keep in mind that when voting to place sanctions on me, you only help out Mr. Wednesday and thus are helping out the Catholics. (everyone else in the top 5 won their conference). You will still be 6th in the computer poll unless you vote for someone other then me currently in the top 5.
By the way, if someone confirms that you aren't Catholic, I'd be willing to vote you 2nd in the public poll if you do the same for me. Hopefully, other teams loyal to our conferences will do the same. If there are four detractors and four Catholic detractors, then there are some conferences with only two teams loyal to it. If you are loyalist, then we are both screwed in the public and private poll if we belong to one of those conferences unless we work together.

I looked back and saw ntndeacon was confirmed to not be a Catholic detractor. Since he was also confirmed not to be a detractor earlier in the game, I'm offering this to him instead, but I do think we should consider striking some out some other deal (assuming you aren't Catholic) such as a 4 for 4 and have you and ntndeacon strike a 3 for a 3. We NEED to this otherwise Mr. Wednesday WILL be the front runner to win this game because the Catholics almost certainly have more votes in both the public and private polls then any group of loyalists and thus we are all going to be ranked pretty low in both polls.

Why do I care who goes to the National championship game?
If it's not you, you don't care about who goes to the NCG (although you'd probably prefer it not be Notre Dame). You do care, very much, about who gets the at-large bid, because if it's Racer, you don't win. You're competing with him for the at-large bid, and you didn't win the conference title, so you only win if you get that at-large bid. Racer is not your friend.

If I am allowed to this, I would like to throw the national championship if I am there and if my opponent is chesapeake, ntndeacon, claphamsa, or jeheinz72.
Am I doing this out of the kindness out my heart? Of course not. I'm doing it purely for stragic reasons. Right now, I am in danger of getting of getting the sanction vote and I need people to have every reason to vote for Mr. Wednesday in the sanction vote instead of me and also to vote for me somewhere in the polls. If I read the loyalist victory conditions on the first page correctly, you win the game if your conference gets the at-large bid or your team wins the national championship. I still win as long as my conference earns the at-large bid so there isn't really a reason for me to win the national championship other then to limit the number of teams that achieve a victory condition and I'm happy as long as I'm one of those teams.

Dola, again if I read the victory conditions correctly on the front page and you win the national championship, you only "win" in the game if the Catholics or detractors do not secure the at-large bid so Mr. Wednesday cannot offer you the same deal. I am not even sure if I'm allowed to throw the national championship so I might not be able to either.
Racer
12-13-2007, 07:36 AM
but why throw it?
Because I'm doing everything I possibly can do to "win" in the game. It makes sense strategically to to throw the national championship because it gives a few teams a reason to vote to sanction Mr. Wednesday instead and to vote for me in the polls when they would otherwise have no reason other then rathering seeing a loyalist win then a Catholic or a detractor to do so. I still win the game if my conference gets the at-large bid and I don't really "win" any more by securing both the at-large bid and winning the national championship. I think Mr. Wednesday is more likely to win unless I avoid the sanction vote and I'd just as well assume that Swaggs, Chief Rum (if he's good), one other loyalist, and myself win then take that chance so that only Swags, Chief Rum (again if he's good), and myself win.

As the head coach of a major college football power, you have two goals. First, of course, is to win the national title. The second, more team-oriented goal, is to bring in more money for your conference by sending two teams to BCS Bowls.
The group who gets the at-large BCS bid wins, and the player who wins the national champsionship wins. I hope that clears it up.

I win if the catholcs and other bad guys dont win, I dont need to go to the BCS!
But that's not so. You only win if you get the at-large from our conference. Otherwise, you will not win the NC (because if you don't get the at-large, you are not in our conference), and either someone from another conference (you lose) or me/st.cronin (Catholic/detractor -- you lose) will get the at-large.
Racer is not on anybody's side but his own conference's.
Mr. Wednesday
12-13-2007, 01:00 PM
I said, "Otherwise, you will not win the NC (because if you don't get the at-large, you are not in our conference),"
I meant to say parenthetically, "because if you don't get the at-large, you can't be in the NC game because you didn't win our conference."
Barkeep49

Just to back up Mr. W: the only player who Racer's winning supports is his own, Chief Rum, and Swaggs. It's really not all that different from Mr. W attempting to win it for his group of people.

Nope. A win is winning the NC yourself, or putting a non-detractor, non-Catholic from your own conference in the at-large (which is you and you alone, as ntndeacon won the conference, I'm Catholic, and st.cronin is detractor).

Probably to raise a little doubt about my allegiance. I think it's been made pretty clear though that I am a loyalist to my conference.
Mr. Wednesday
12-13-2007, 01:31 PM
The thing is, though, the only people who need to doubt your allegiance are your own conference. You're not on anybody else's side anyway. For the detractors to salvage this, they need you out of the way, so they shouldn't be putting any votes on you at all.

As I have said previously, I have submitted an action to throw the national championship game if I am facing Chesapeake or Ntndeacon (since like I said earlier, Claph and jeheiz can't make it if I make it). I would say it is definitely in both of those players' best interest to see that I don't get sanctioned.
As for everyone else, the Catholics and the Detractors have more votes then any single group of conference loyalists in the public and private polls and thus the only chance the loyalists have in beating Mr. Wednesday is to ban together in this vote.

The at-large spot goes to Racer from the Big 3 Conference. As the schools from the Big 3 celebrate, it is discovered that there were some teams attempting to bring down the conference. Barkeep49 was a detractor! As if that wasn't enough, news of another evil team lurking in the conference arrives. Chief Rum was a Catholic! After putting those teams under severe probation, the rest of the Big 3 teams resume their celebration. Racer and Swaggs win!

Thanks. I wouldn't have ever been in position to win though if I didn't win a lot games where I had about a 50/50 chance of winning. I think what might have killed you was if Barkeep49 threw the game against Chief Rum. The biggest challenge to me was the lack of deaths. In WW, things can be overwhelming at first, but then the numbers are dwindled, less people are talking, roles and themes are uncovered, and you get a handle on things.

This was my 3rd so the different rule set didn't really affect me either. I thought something that really helped me out in this game was being a wolf once before. I was able to do a better job at reading between the lines in posts and pms from my conference. After reading Chief Rum's post from very early this morning, I thought he was probably Catholic and is a big reason why I pushed so hard for an alliance today. Likewise, a pm Barkeep sent me just before the deadline on day 5 tipped me off that he was definitely our conference's detractor.

2. Better use of the Day 8 sabotage. Granted, if BK throws the game against CR, the powerpoints work out differently, but as it was, chesapeake had 176, ntn had 159, and BK had 158. Taking 19 points from chesapeake and 2 from ntn would have moved BK up to #2 in the computer rankings. Putting 8 points on jeheinz would have dropped him two spots, too. Racer was pretty much uncatchable, though -- but a lot of it would have hinged on the conference championship game (If Racer played CR, both teams had planned to throw the game).

Yeah I agree victory was definitely possible for the wolves, though I think the better scenario occurs if Mr. W doesn't duke it to me. In that case if we throw the full 50 behind Racer, I could have had the upper hand to throw the championship game while still being in a good position to get in. Oh well.

I think duking Racer the next game would have helped you out as much as it would have helped us out.

Obviously, I had ulterior motives, I was hoping I could divide you all and sneak one of us in, but I don't think there was enough appreciation for the fact that he was not on your side.
The endgame also changed some when I neglected to throw my championship game to Lathum and set myself up as another option for the villagers. The one and only option for a villager that didn't want to see the wolves win was Racer. Had I been in the mix, the villager votes may have been split a little more.
Sure, supporting Racer didn't win the game for me, and I knew that when I was making my final polls. But in my own mind, I'd rather a fellow villager win than one of the groups of wolves.
