Ok... not entirely. I had a team a few years ago, and I was thinking of getting a new one.
Is the data in the FAQ still valid? I notice it's from 2003... has the game changed substantially since then? What do I need to know starting out again?
Hattrick now has what amounts to a walkthrough. In the end, it gives you a "diploma" and cash for completing it. It's helpful in a sense for new players.
I haven't visited the FAQ in a long time...but I imagine most of it is generally still plausible. Some things may have changed, like the introduction on the youth teams, which I still haven't put a handle on. I need to have more interest in it, but I just keep failing to do so.

Any economic analysis from 2003 is completely useless now as the hattrick economy went through a crazy downturn. Strategically, the game hasn't changed much, tho, as the engine has only had minor tweaks.

Training is now much less effective at supplying operating income than it used to be. That really only affects teams that are bumping up against the sustainability caps at their current level, though -- newer teams are still going to focus more on using training for barter. There, the crash in transfer prices means that you can get better, quicker, than you used to be able to do. The only major difference there strategy-wise is that it increases the importance of attendance and sponsor income (and, therefore, winning) vs. training relative to where it used to be.
