I got the second one there. I had no idea for the federal bowl. I looked at super bowls that Washington played in, looked for any super bowls that might have been played in Washington. I looked in past super bowl history for one called "the federal bowl" looked for older football leagues like USFL etc for one that had a federal bowl.. just didnt find anything.

It was a close competition. A few of the items left the teams puzzled. I am not surprised that the gyrating football player left teams stumped. I ran into it completely by accident when I was going through corbis's database.
http://pro.corbis.com/images/BE065614.jpg?size=67&uid=%7B457bf39c-73f2-4274-99f0-50b6eb61fe5c%7D
The clue for the "Federal" Super Bowl was designed to be hard. There has been only one game played north of the Mason-Dixon line (or in Civil War parlance, in Federal Territory). I wanted to include this bit of trivia but didn't want it too be too easy to find (the game being at Detroit) and perhaps went too far in the other direction.
Finally, there were the Huge felines. I did get a couple of cats in helmets, and one picture, from Howard I believe, of a huge stone head in a helmet but it was not a feline. I expected this too to be a tougher one, with Pass having an unfair advantage. Outside Chicago's Art Institute there are a couple of famous lions who they decked out in Bears helmets. There was some news about it locally because the first set of helmets didn't fit. Like I said, designed to be hard.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/thumbnails/photogallery/2007-01/27644701.jpg
Then there were the ones where my wording was poor. I meant for the football players without a helmet to be one of a player whose helmet came off during the play, but clearly the wording did not say that and so I accepted a couple pictures of Peyton Manning standing on the sideline.
The Commissioner pictures was the other one where my wording was less than ideal. It was always designed to be 5 separate photos. Of course, as Kwhit and Blade asked, it would have been possible to combine items, as they'd still have been sending only 5 pictures, though no team did this. Anyway, I was a stickler about the Commissioners.
I will give the teams credit. Many of the items that I had trouble finding seemed to give others no problem at all. Anyhow our final chart looked like this (and I apologize for the bad formatting but I just played with this for more than 20 minutes to little avail):

Which give us a final score of:
Oz: 30.64
Howard: 27.96
Lupus 29.97
Helsing 31.29
So Helsing wins our first challenge. One of their members will be the seer and they are say from tribal council and the next opportunity for the wolves to attack. Lupus? Howard? It's tribal council for you tomorrow. Details will be posted in your tribal thread (though I'll let everyone know that after an immunity challenge, the next reward challenge will go on simultainously with tribal council. This might change slightly when we have individual challenges).
As a bit of an FYI: I'm hoping to start tomorrow's reward challenge around 8, and there will be a 7 o'clock deadline if I can get the help I need lined up.
Oh and also before everyone leaves, I need at least one person from each tribe to send me a PM to be a "volunteer". You may not post anywhere that you have volunteered. If a tribe fails to have anyone volunteer there will be consequences. Of course too many people volunteering for this unknown thing could be bad too. So just how adventurous do you feel?

ImTheCrew is correct. I somehow did not record Schmidty's Bear or Colt (though I did get the others). This means that while Helsing remains safe from tribal council, Oz was indeed our winning tribe and they will be getting the reward. If other mistakes are found before I send out the seer role, I will revise the score.

C'mon in Survivors.
I hope you had a nice night. I want to thank those of you who volunteered. Of course those who were chosen now are a little more evil than before, but let's not let that bother us.
On to today's reward challenge. In Werewolf words are important. It's how you decide who might be a wolf or how a wolf can save himself (or herself) from getting the ax. Today's challenge will test your abilities to use words. Each tribe is to pick a theme and you will then write four poems on that theme.
One poem will be an acrostic of at least 6 lines, one a limerick, one an 8-20 line poem with a rhyme scheme, and one a haiku.
The poems are due by 7 PM today here in the thread. You may post your poems all at once or separately as the day goes on, but once a poem is posted it may not be changed.
Today you'll be playing for something that can save you here on Werewolf Island. I have here two Werewolf Idols. One of them is filled with Wolfbane and will prevent a Werewolf attack from being successful. The other is useless. The winning tribe will decide, in their Tribal Thread, who gets these two Idols. After that the possessor of the Idols may keep or pass, publicly or privately, the Idols.
There might even be some celebrity judges coming to take a look at your poems, so I'd get to work.
Survivors ready? Go!

All those with night actions, including the wolves, the seer, and anyone else out there, can only perform them AFTER a tribal council. So yes Oz is still safe from Werewolf attack because the wolves hadn't had a chance to attack yet.

I was thinking the presidential election for the federal super bowl. I also had a picture of Donovan McNabb doing a hula dance, but I wasn't sure if you could tell whether he was gyrating, and there was no hoop. He did have a lei, though, and was dancing next to a hula dancer. I probably wouldn't have got points for it, though.

Team Helsing's poetry:
We chose our theme to be the 2006 NFL Playoffs. I hope everyone enjoys our poetry in honor of the clost of this year's NFL season. :)
Limerick:
There once was a QB named Drew,
Who went to Dallas and played like poo.
Romo saved the day,
Cowboy saviour they say,
Until the extra point snap flew through.
Haiku:
Twelve teams with one goal
To win in the winter cold --
The Colts reign supreme.
Acrostic:
Playoffs never let us down
Lots of cheers, cries, and frowns
Adam Vinatieri kicking against old foes
Young Chargers' fans cheering on the pros
Offense was the key to the Saints' win
Fumbling a snap was Romo's chagrin
Five turnovers were the Bears' demise
So we watched Manning claim the prize.
Rhyming scheme:
In week one the Chiefs were bums
And Romo became all thumbs.
The Eagles looked alive
And the Jets took a dive.
Vinatieri shined bright in week two
And the Saints were led marching by Drew.
Marty was Marty
And DA BEARS spoiled Hasselbeck's party.
Peyton took over week three
Casting aside all the demons AND Tom Brady.
Bears D came to play
And Reggie and Deuce had to call it a day.
Then it was time for week four
Devin and the Bears sprinted through the door.
Peyton didn't even bat an eye
And at the end of it all the Colts were riding high.

Oz's submissions
Acoustic:
Trials of a Villager
Where would we be without this game?
Everyone thinks the same.
Regardless, we're happy to be here
Except the wolves, who rather be chewing on ears
Wolves are wussies
Oh, how I hate the wolves
Like I hate the Navy, I hate the wolves
Forever.
Limerick:
Ardent’s Plight
There once was a guy named Ardent
Who went to a forum so he could vent
He said, "I never lie"
They said, "You do, you must die!"
Poor Ardent was left with resent!
8-20 line poem with Rhyme Scheme (Shakespearan Sonnet):
How We Came To Be
It started when we came to the Sideline,
To muse and talk about the game of Jim,
Blacky left and SkyDog said “This is mine!”
So he made a website for a text-sim.
And that was how eff oh eff see started,
SkyDog up front, Ryan S in the rear,
The board filled up until someone farted,
Then we voted someone out with a jeer.
And that was how WereWolf was brought about,
With no whistles and certainly no bells,
No, there are no polls, there is not a trout,
We vote to lynch WereWolves to save ourselves.
We kill all Werewolves and their evil kin,
And that is when we will finally win
Haiku:
The Hunter
moonlit night in march
werewolf footprints towards the woods
blood drops on the grass
Blade6119
02-06-2007, 05:54 PM
Team Theme: The Life of a WW Player
Haiku:
Evening and the Moon
Bring out fur and fang and flesh
I yearn for morning
Rhyme Poem:
Early in the morning, with fear in my heart,
I check the boards and receive quite a start.
Wondering am I alive or am I dead,
PM indicator flashing - is it what I dread?
How will it be? This terror the wolves send.
Teeth tearing throat, or some other end?
Wait, don't panic. Don't overreact.
I open the message to see if I was whacked.
I'm not dead at all. Oh thank the lord!
We've just been exiled to our own spot on the board.
"Werewolf games have moved" the moderator boasts.
No longer a Grizzled Vet? OMG!!! PEOPLE LOST POSTS
Limerick:
He wanted to control the masses
Cuz everyone acted like asses
He needed some victims
He focused on lupines
And now it is wolves Ben harasses
Acrostic:
Lest you be chosen,
You shall hide amongst the masses,
Not so much that you are marked as...what is the word?
Conspicuous. That is it.
He who barks the loudest leads the charge,
Even though wolves are often known to bark, themselves.
Death awaits the most popular. The rest will hope to see another day.

Oz, whats your theme?
Jonathan Ezarik
02-06-2007, 05:57 PM
Team Howard entries: Theme is FOFC
Acrostic:
Just because his grammar is weak
Blessed are the linguistically meek
Maybe we should cut him some slack
Al Davis would rank him at the head of the pack
Go proudly JB, your Raiders look great
I agree many wins will be their fate
Careful though, until after preseason you should wait
Limerick:
Dean Houston was his name
Quarterbacking was his game
They say he was great
And I don't playa hate
But to me he sounds pretty lame
8-20 line poem with rhyme scheme:
We may debate movies or politics
We may complain about weather
We may clamor for Pumpy pics
But games are what bring us together
FM, FBCB, BBCF, Second and ten
Acronyms abound on our board
FOF, OOTP, Puresim and Madden
With dynasties that tell us who scored
A game was promised like nothing before
A thread was born that was pure gold
Daivd Winters gave us beer tents and more
But only a few copies of MF were sold
The months roll on and the seasons pass
A boxed HA sits with a trout up his ass

OMG!!! PEOPLE LOST POST
Limerick:
He wanted to control the masses
Cuz everyone acted like asses
He needed some victims
He focused on lupines
And now it is wolves Ben harasses
Acrostic:
Lest you be chosen,
You shall hide amongst the masses,
Not so much that you are marked as...what is the word?
Conspicuous. That is it.
He who barks the loudest leads the charge,
Even though wolves are often known to bark, themselves.
Death awaits the most popular. The rest will hope to see another day.

I want to thank those of you who volunteered. Of course those who were chosen now are a little more evil than before, but let's not let that bother us.
While this doesn't say those who volunteered ended up as the wolves, it seems to infer that to me. Technically it is two seperate sentences so arguably could be two seperate thoughts, but I find it unlikely.
Simplest guess is that those who volunteered made up the pool the wolves were chosen from. How they were spread out among the teams I have no idea. Out of curiosity, why does it matter if the wolves were chosen from those who volunteered? The only reason I can think of that it might matter is you can perhaps try to guess which type of people might have volunteered.

Well everyone the judges have voted. First I want to say that the poems were quite good. Quite a few of them made me laugh, though I have to admit that a few of my favorites didn't make the final cut.
But of course it's not my opinion that matters, but that of the judges. Please remember that these three fine folks did this out of the generosity of their hearts and to be nicer to them than you are to me :). Our three judges were a motley crew:
DaddyTorgo, Talgian, and diagamma
Their scoring worked as follows:
Helsing
Acrostic
Digamma 9 (their best effort)
Talgian 6
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 25
Haiku
Digamma 7 (solid)
Talgian 7
Daddy Torgo 9
Sub-total: 23
Limerick
Digamma 4 (deducted because it was a field goal, not an extra point.)
Talgian 4
Daddy Torgo 8
Sub-total: 16
Rhyme
Digamma 7 (not bad)
Talgian 8
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 25
Talgian Overall comments: they were NFL related, so my love was not to be had, even ignoring that, they weren't all that amusing
Total: 89
Oz
Acrostic
Digamma 3 (this was really bad)
Talgian 9 that’s a great line like I hate the Navy, I hate the Wolves
Forever
Daddy Torgo 7
Sub-total: 19
Haiku
Digamma 9 (this was really good)
Talgian 7.5 I like their haiku too
Daddy Torgo 9
Sub-total: 25.5
Limerick
Digamma 5 (the best of a bunch of bad limericks)
Talgian 8.5 I like their limerick too, not quite as good as the acrostic but pretty good
Daddy Torgo 7
Sub-total: 20.5
Rhyme
Digamma 7 (solid)
Talgian 10 oh my god, oz wins. Period. That's an actual shakespearean sonnet. abab cdcd efef gg. iambic pentameter. they win. if it wasn't in such perfect form, I'd give that poem like a 6.5, but considering it's perfect
Daddy Torgo 8
Sub-total: 25
Talgian overall this was a very strong group of poems. The topic was good and they were well written. High marks.
Total: 90
Lupus
Acrostic
Digamma 8 (good effort)
Talgian 7.5 good message in the acrostic, but it was kind of dull
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 25.5
Haiku
Digamma 8 (another solid haiku effort)
Talgian 7 little too emo
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 25
Limerick
Digamma 4 (ehhh)
Talgian 7
Daddy Torgo 8
Sub-total: 19
Rhyme
Digamma 9 (the best rhyming poem)
Talgian 8.5 I can relate. Good effort. Amusing end.
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 27.5
Talgian overall they were a fine lot, but nothing special
Total: 97
Howard
Acrostic
Digamma 8 (solid)
Talgian 8 I don’t know who JB Magic is, but I bet that’d eb really funny if you do
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 26
Haiku
Digamma 8 (another good haiku)
Talgian 7.5
Daddy Torgo 8
Sub-total: 23.5
Limerick
Digamma 5 (so so)
Talgian 7 I enjoy their limerick
Daddy Torgo 10
Sub-total: 22
Rhyme
Digamma 7 (average for the rhyming group)
Talgian 6.5 kind of lame. They don’t quite have an actual Shakespearean sonnet. They made an attempt but they failed and it’s not that hard so so deduct a point. They rhyme scheme is correct, but it’s not iambic pentameter.
Daddy Torgo 9
Sub-total: 22.5
Talgian overall as a team, they seemed pretty focused and dedicated.
Total: 94
This means that our winners for this challenge was Lupus! Great job to everyone. Lupus you know have two idols, a shield idol and a sword idol. One of them is an effective block against the wolves. The other is useless. In your thread you need to agree on who those two idols should go to. They may go to anyone in the game.

Tomorrow's challenge is not time intensive, but it is time sensitive and so it might be helpful to compile who'll be around at what points tomorrow.
My schedule is about like today. I'll be here around 3-4pm Mountain Time, and will be available from that point til deadline. I may have a few minutes early in the morning and at lunch time.

BK, do you want to know here or in our tribal thread who will be around?
and when do we find out about tribal council results?

It's your tribe that needs to know. And you'll find out tomorrow when I "bring the tribes together" who got voted off officially.

I've mentioned this in our tribe thread. I find it ironic that the team that was put together because they had the fewest posts has by far the most of the four tribes.
That would probably be worth a 9.
Which is one point lower than what my other was worth. ;)

Im not sure my thoughts on the volunteers being evil, but i do believe at least 3 of the 4 teams have evil in them. I do firmly believe the teams will have to work together, but im not yet sure who to work with. With time though, i think its the only route to victory.

C’mon in Lupus and Howard. You’ll see that Chief Rum and Lonestargirl were voted off in tribal last night. Everyone else here? Oh good. Glad to see the wolves didn’t get you.
Today’s challenge is about voting. In Werewolf there is little that is harder to counter than the last second vote switch. Wolves can do this to manipulate the numbers. Villagers can do this to catch the wolves unsuspecting. We’re going to be simulating that excitement today. In a moment I’m going to reveal 9 times to you.
What you must do is be the first to post a vote at that time. Votes should be formatted in your team color and be bold (so, for instance, Oz’s should look like Vote Barkeep . If you’re the first to post on, or after, the designated time your tribe gets 3 points. Second 2, third 1, and fourth none. If your tribe posts before the time or more than one person posts for a tribe, it’s zero points. Also, if the person you vote for is a person who is doing the round for their team, and it is posted before that person’s vote, their vote will not count. Oh and I wouldn’t want to be the person who got the most votes at the end of the day. It’s not quite as bad as a normal vote, but it’s still not too pleasant. Every person on a tribe must do at least one round, but other than that there is no restriction about who can do a round.
Winning tribe gains immunity from a wolf attack, losing two tribes will go to tribal council.
The times are:
9:53
10:30
12:00
1:15
3:00
5:00
7:30
9:48
9:59 (votes must be in by 10:00)

Rule clarification (see path you were right there would be something to moan about):
Each tribe may only post ONCE for each time period.
So Alan's post counts, but similar situations would not in the future.
Also a vote for a particular time period must be in before the next period begins.
Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 09:06 AM
What does this mean:
Also, if the person you vote for is a person who is doing the round for their team, and it is posted before that person’s vote, their vote will not count.

Nevermind. See Jonathan's vote.
Alan: If your team successfully predicts who is doing it for another team, their vote is invalidated. So in this case Jonathan's vote invalidated Ardent's vote.

Back in college I was student government President. One of the things I did at that point was clean up the Constitution since it had internal contradictions and such. As part of that I defined the words must, shall, and may in an axillary document. This should verses must reminds me of those days.
The rule to have people bold their votes is not one unique to this game and so I think giving your team 3rd place, and issuing the clarification, was the correct handling of the situation.
