I'm going to buy myself a new console for next Christmas and i can't decide between the PSP or XBox360. I'm going to write the the pros and cons of each one plus some questions.

Please also vote and tell me what do you think if you own one or both systems and what do you think are the cons/pros of them.

Let's see if i can finally decide and maybe this thread could help others to decide too.

360 Pros:
- I will be able to play next gen sports games that are almost the only games i play in a console. NBA2k7 and College Hoops 2k7 would by my first purchases.

- Big screen, as big as your main TV is.

- Patches for games unlike in the PS2 that i already own.

360 Cons:
- I need to fight my wife for the big TV or to play it in a 17" TFT that we have in our room, almost sure i'll play in the smaller one, my wife owns me :) I'll need also to set it up every time to play as i can't leave it sitting there with all the cords etc in our room. Btw, can it be plugged to a TFT computer monitor with standard SVGA connection? I have 2x19" for my computer and could use one to play the xbox and leave it setup in my computer room.

- I already own a PS2 that i must admit i don't play a lot for the above reasons, I end always playing games in the PC as i don't need to setup anything to play them.

- I need to buy a modded one as i did with my PS2. I can buy it already modded with 1 year guarantee (from the shop, zero official) for around $550. I need it modded as 90% of the games i want to play are not released in Europe (like College Hoops) and i need to buy imports.

- The shop guarantee doesn't include the lens, and for what i have read, it's the biggest problem. Can it be replaced paying for it? if so, what is the price?

- I can't bring it to trips to hotels etc and we like to travel a lot, like once or twice per month.

PSP Pros:

- Portability, I'll be able to play it on trips, in the TV room while my wife watches TV, while i wait somewhere, etc.

- Price is around $250, less than half of the 360.

PSP Cons:

- 2K sports games are not available, big issue for me. I'm sure I'll mis other games too.

- Small screen.

Am I forgetting anything? thanks for your answers.

You can buy a VGA cable for the 360 and play it on your monitor. But that region encoding thing is a bit of a bitch for you, and I'm not sure that it's worth it to have to buy a modded console.

I don't know buddy. I'll probably go with the 360, just because of the amazing graphics (BTW, I'm pretty sure NBA 2K7 is released in PAL format also), but it's a tough call for you. I mean, if you end up playing a lot during trips and having to set everything up everytime you want to play, then go with the PSP. Also, aren't all the PSP games region free??? Or, you can buy the PSP (cheaper, smaller, your wife won't notice ;) ) first, and then get a 360 after Christmas.

The PSP is nice. I'm playing that a lot right now.

Edit-but you can't go wrong with the 360. There are a lot of really good games out there right now. Both systems have a pretty good future since you can get PSOne games for the PSP pretty soon and the 360 now has downloadable complete movies and television shows.

That being said, I'd say that whatever fits your lifestyle would be best. If you can't get your TV away from your kids, maybe the PSP would be nice. If you don't travel a lot, then maybe the 360 would be best. It's really up to you. You can't go wrong with either.

To me it's no contest, I'd go with the 360. PSP is the only major system I don't own (except for the PS3&Wii) so maybe I'm not the best person to ask.

MLB The Show is quite a game to play on the psp, other than that - I love my Xbox 360.

I bought a nice BenQ 20" widescreen monitor for $300 a few months ago and use it for both my 360 and PC - so yes, you can use both.

The PSP is going to be dead in a year at the most. Buy a 360.
