View Full Version : FOF2007: Low Attendence?

Is anybody else seeing low attendence? For my Steelers team who went 13-3, they were not even close to sell outs (by as much as 20k). Taking a look at the rest of the league, didn't appear anybody was close to selling out. Seems kind of strange unless I'm missing something. What are other ways to put fans in the seats?

My Steelers went 15-1 and won the Bowl. I was at about 96% capacity.

Couple examples of surprises:
Steelers at Oakland (capacity 64.5k) - Only 33.5k in attendence
Steelers at Jacksonville (capacity 73k) - Only 43k in attendence
I'm just thinking this is way off, especially for certain teams that travel really well like the Steelers. Also, even 94% at capacity seems low for a team with a great record and reputation. Doesn't a lot of the popular teams sell out for years including the Steelers?

After looking at ESPN for this year's attendence, there are a number of teams that have exceeded 100%. That is something I don't think I've ever seen within the game.

They were both away teams though. Maybe their fans just suck. How did your home games do?

About 10-20k less than capacity.....seems like that for most teams.

Also, not one single team ever reached 100% capacity for any week, including the playoffs. That seems strange to me.

Not strange in FOF.This is one of those "quirky" things that has been there in several versions. A formerly-crappy team can go on a run and make the Front Office Bowl, but get very few bandwagon fans to bump up attendance.

SlyBelle,
Do you equalize cities? It changes the support and economy ratings of the cities. So Pittsburgh doesn' have passionate fans.

I first thought that was the case, but I have verified and re-ran a season and it is not turned on for equal.

Thanks Skydog. Unfortuantely, that is a little disappointing. Maybe something that can be adjusted at some point. Kind of sticks out. But certainly not a game breaker by any means for me.

Speaking of attendance quirks: In FOF 2004, in my SP dynasty, home attendance each year at each game (pre-season, regular season, and playoffs) was exactly equal to the number of season tickets that were sold that particular year. There was no variation at all regardless of the team's record, the opposition, the importance of the game, etc. I don't believe that was true in FOF 2002 where there were game to game variations. Has this been fixed in FOF 2007?

As Skydog has said, this has been going on for awhile. While it's irritating, it's fortunately not a showstopper.

Have you tried lowering your ticket prices at the beginning of a new season to increase attendance? You will probably lose money doing this, but if you want attendance up, it should help.
FOF attendance for all teams is nowhere near the current NFL attendance figures. I believe so far this season all games have been sold out.

I think in the FOF sense, "attendance" is actually a metaphor for "overall fan satisfaction". Since FOF doesn't track fan satisfaction any other way, it is shown in the game as attendace. To wit IRL the Redskins will sell out every singel year even though the fans are irate about the direction of the team. This is felt by the club in lost revenue via merchandising, etc. I believe FOF jost boils all this down into one statistic and calls it attendance.
Or I could be completely full of shit.

Actually, on the city screen, there is a fan loyalty rating bar which is another method to see fan satisfaction to some point other than attendance.
