Thanks for everyone who has shown interest in the game up to this point. We're going to get an updated demo out in the next day or so that lets you try out the career play plus see the HUGE improvements in game play. Shaun Sullivan spent some time adding in a really nice trajectory system for the shots and it looks much better than even in the first demo.

Has anyone sunk a putt in this game?

Every putt i take misses until the third try when it is 1foot or less.

I know nothing about golf, but I think I'm gonna give this a try. I've never been disapointed in any of the Gorski games so far.

I bought the game since it was only $25, and I'm a sucker for sims. Now I'm stuck because I every coach is unwilling to work with me. What should I do in that case? Also, my stats are all 0's for some reason.

You should create a new game. Your stats are all 0s because you didn't enter anything for your starting ratings. That is also why no-one wants to coach you. I'd recommend using at least the full minimum(600 points), which will allow you to be a decent golfer on the JAG Tour, and then either setting a higher potential or using the random potential option so you can improve over time.

In the Demo, I think there was a warning about this. You MUST assign your stats both current and potential or you will have this problem. Time to re-roll.

BTW if anyone is having trouble getting started click the help button at the top - there is a PDF manual with a walkthrough on setting up a career plus helpful info about how you qualify to move up and down the tours and for special events

Thanks guys. I didn't enter my stats. I restarted and it looks good now.

I am getting some error message that doesn't stop the game, just pops up alot:

"The specified device is not open or is not recognized by the MCI."

Sounds great. I've learned with all games to wait for the demo, but I'm really looking forward to giving it a shot.

I'm all for this - I definitely think you should give the demo a go and see if its going to be something you like. Wait for the updated one though as its much improved over the current one and it should be out this weekend.

We ran into this one time in testing - it has something to do with playing the game's theme music and I'm still looking into a fix for it. Like you said, it doesn't stop the game from playing at all but it just pops up when the game starts.

Gary,

I'm getting a subscript 9 error, out of range error.

Besides that, I'm impressed.

I think its 5 right now. More will be available soon hopefully, depending how fast some other people get used to the Course Designer.

Afeter playing a bit to learn the basics i'm going to start my first dynasty now.

Btw guys, what do you think about an online league? i'm thinking on starting one if we can get enought guys interested. I would wait a bit to have more courses released for more variety, and also some other custom mods like real sponsor names etc. Also to learn a bit more the MP basics for this game and after discovering if there are game stopping bugs. I think a MP game could be so fun. Btw, would you prefer a real roster file (but keeping human players fictionals) or fantasy?

I can't buy right now, but this is on my short list of must-buy's. Thanks Gary, looks like it will be a lot of fun!

There's actually 6 courses with the game, fyi.

FYI - the second demo is up. It allows 100 days of career play and then if you buy the game you should be able to continue the season. Its on the downloads page I linked to in the first post. If you have an old demo uninstall it and obviously if you have the retail version don't install it because it will overwrite the game.

There's also a zip file there that contains the exe you would need if you want to upgrade to the full version. Enjoy

Maybe I'm the only one but the site lay-out is a tad off. Specifically the portion of the site that list TPG, as I just happen to stumble across it while trying to find the demo which I spent a few minutes finding out that it irritatingly wasn't under downloads and not listed anywhere else on the sidebar.

The greyed out TPG graphic is super easy to miss since it's small and looked like it's blended in.

Other than that, looking forward to trying out the demo - sounds like a unique concept for a game. Good work on trying something different and new.

dola

And now that I look at the site it seems crazy I missed it, but it being my first visit , I had no idea the game was listed there.

Well then you need to visit the site more often :)

j/k - point taken and thanks for the feedback on the site

Why is a lot of run time error being reported on the main site forum?

Gary Gorski
08-19-2006, 02:39 PM
Well first there's not "a lot of run time error being reported" - there's been 5 - one happens when you delete the purse of an event, one when looking at driving distance stat early in the season, one that happens if people try to save during a round and two that happens once in a while at random on two of the courses. There's also a bug with the theme music on some systems that does not stop the game from being played in any fashion. All are being addressed and should all be fixed in the first patch. I've already fixed the first two on my end, the save one is because I didn't intend for you to save during events so I've disabled that option on my end and made a post regarding it so that's taken care of as well and I'm working on the other two (which happen to be RTE 9 and RTE 28) and they happen at random it seems so its taking some time to track them down.

So post in the Tech Supoort forums over at Wolverine Studios. Also, go to the Downloads page and make sure you have the associated files installed.

Gary Gorski
08-19-2006, 03:18 PM
Did you have the old version of the demo installed? Make sure you create a new league before trying quick play in the new demo because the files from the old demo won't be compatible with the new demo. That sounds like it might be what's causing that duplicate key issue.

Brian Swartz
08-19-2006, 03:18 PM
Have you created a new career prior to doing this? You have to have a career setup for Quick Play to draw golfers from.

Yep

Beside unistalling the old demo. You also have to delete the old save file manually too.

well I'm pretty sure few people have the same issues as jbmagic :)
