I bid on something on ebay and sent a money order for $67. The guy had great feedback.
Now a month later I haven't received anything. I check the feedback and there are now several negative strikes for not sending anything. The phone number listed with ebay is also not in service.
Using his name and address (which I sent it to) I got a new phone number which goes directly to voicemail. I also have a nice little map of his neighborhood in Warren, MI.
Next month I am planning on spending a week in Detroit, which happens to be my hometown.
Should I pay a friendly visit to my new friend? :D
If so, should I stay until the police are called on me? (Of course I will have everything printed out.)

Don't buy a gun with your debit card; it will show up on your bank statement and the cops will catch you red handed.

Can you check with the post office/bank to see if the money order has been cashed? And if it hasn't, you can probably do some kind of "stop order", and get it refunded.

You didn't happen to mail This guy (http://fof.sportplanet.gamespy.com//forums/showthread.php?t=49273&highlight=strange+check) a check, did you?

Postal money order. It costs $3 to trace if it has been cashed. At which point the post office is finished, and I would have to contact the bank it was cashed at directly.
In other words, I can only get a refund if it was not cashed. The likelyhood of that happening is about as good as getting a bank to refund to me a cashed money order, so I'll have paid an extra $3 for nothing.

Seems like too much trouble to go to for $67.

It's possible the guy's just out of commission (dead, hospitalized, etc.), I'd be curious enough to spend the $3.

Doesn't the pattern of Good Feedback history, and then all of the sudden bad behavior lend to the theory that the guy's account might have been hacked?
