Hey guys-

My brother somehow picked up a virus on his laptop computer. Windows will not even load unless you put it in safe mode. What is the best way to clean the registry in safe mode. Re-formatting is another option but I would like to try this first.

I picked up a nasty popup virus about a month ago, the people at www.majorgeeks.com helped me out tremendously.

i know there's a free program called RegCleaner or something like that. It has helped me out a couple times in the past.

Check out Antmeisters' freeware thread. I'm pretty sure there was one in there.

I've used CCleaner in the past which had a reg cleanup utility if that will help.

If you are trying to restore your registry, you should use System Restore.

Select Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore to bring up the System Restore Wizard. That should enable you to restore it to a date when the computer was working. But before you do that, see if you can get rid of the virus in safe mode first.
