This COULD be a shocker, but two years ago, I forgot all about Valentines Day. My girlfriend at the time was NOT pleased. In my defense though, we had a hockey game and then we all went out afterwards, so pretty much everyone on the team forgot about it. Talk about doghouse. It wasn't till I finally broke up with her that she forgot about that, and was more or else miffed about being dumped.

I know I'm not the only one.

The Who are awesome, but I didn't know they came out with a new album.

Well played. Hurts to give a Sparty props.

Hell, my wife and I don't even celebrate Valentine's Day most of the time. When you've got kids, both the anniversary and Valentine's Day amount to that fifteen minutes of nookie before we roll over and go to sleep.

Note: I'm not complaining about this. As soon as my kids are out of the house, I'm hitting up adoption agencies for more.

I never forget, but the day is not that big of a deal. I let the wife pick out a ring Saturday at the mall. Tomorrow our daughter has gymnastics, so if w do anything at all, it will be dinner with the kids. I did buy flowers to be sent to the house tomorrow morning, too. And a card. Can't forget the card.

Even though we don't have kids, we've never made a big deal out of the day. However, if I don't get her something small and/or forgot the day she would be disappointed. In this case, I'm just getting some cute non-expensive earrings, a card, and some good chocolates that she likes.

{raises hand}

Yep, been there, done that, got the scars to prove it.

fade to flashback
Her: "How can you "forget" Valentine's Day? You're in radio for God's sake, you've been wall to wall commercials for it for two weeks"
Me: "I don't listen to the commercials"
end flashback

She was mad for 2-3 days before even telling me why the hell she was mad. I've always maintained (legit) that I didn't forget Valentine's Day per se, I simply wasn't aware that the date had come (and gone). I get exactly zero slack for that of course, but that's the truth.

And, amazingly, she eventually married me anyway.
(although I'm still not entirely sure that was just to ensure that she could give me hell about it every single year for the rest of my life)

Same here (just had that conversation with SWMBO as a matter of fact).

I think I've forgotten about it just as often as she has, at least in the last few years :)

As some have pointed out, it's not that big a deal for us. She told me last week that if there was one thing I was gonna get her, it's the latest Avenged Sevenfold CD. I played dumb and said something to the effect of "wha? We're giving each other gifts for v-day???" and went to the local music store to buy it over the weekend. :)

She works midnight to 8 tonight and I will put the CD in her car's CD player, set to the song she said she like, Bat Country. She'll drive to work at 11 with that disk playing ;)

Nothing special for dinner tomorrow, as she works at 8pm, so I'll let her sleep as late as she wants/needs and she'll leave at 7...

Night shifts suck.
