My brother and I both want to go to Vegas. However, the reason he wants to go is to see one show. I, on the other hand, want to gamble. I am not opposed to doing other things, but he wouldn't want to spend a whole lot of money. Our first question is can he be on the casino floor? If he can watch me gamble this would give him something he'd be willing to do. And regardless of that are there other low costs things for us to either do together for him to do? Based on the trip I've found we'd be staying at the Las Vegas Hilton, to give you an idea of our location.

You have to be 21 to be on the floor (meaning lingering near a table).

Tahoe has similar rules, but when I went there as part of a cross country team trip when I was 17, they didn't give a shit that I was on the floor (nor my companions, some of whom looked considerably younger).

We got more shit for taking the elevator down to the arcade than we did for roaming around by the blackjack and craps tables.

If you have enough cash, the escort ladies won't care.

Just walk the strip and check out all the titage. And collect as many porn flyers as possible to beat off to them later. Also cruise the elevators of some of the middle-rate hotels for drunken chicks that you could bang.

when i was there in july, they actually chased my wife and mother off the casino floor because they had my 1 year old daughter with them...the concern from what they explained isnt that underage people will try to play, because they just wont pay them, it is that parents will bring their little kids onto the gaming floor and stop paying attention to them (this was actually at the hilton...the star trek experience was very cool if you are a trekkie)

Sounds like a solid reccomendation to me!

I'll need a babysitter for 3 girls. Good pay and close to the Strip.

That's an 18 year old boy we're talking about...are you sure you want him babysitting your three daughters?

I think that there are lots of money making opportunities for an 18 year old in Vegas.

Oh, wait. You mean for an 18 year old dude? Hmmm... No idea there.

Well, they are little girls under the age of 8. If anything did happen, I would kill him, cut him into small pieces, and bury him out side of the city limits.

I have the 2 tools that every father needs.

1. A gun
2. A shovel

Do you bury guns often? Or do you shoot at shovels often?

I'd say this depends a lot on the 18 year old.

-- The casino floor is pretty much a no-no, as others already mentioned.

There's ample opportunity to chase girls & such without being on the casino floor, and I'm pretty sure that a number of the dance clubs are 18+ instead of 21+ (I assume they wristband them or something to keep them away from the bar). If clubbing/chasing women, sleeping late, shows, and food will entertain him adequately then I'd say you're good for at least a few days.

If he's more into doing stuff/seeing stuff, I'd say there's no shortage of things to do in Vegas at 18. Hell, my 7 year old was busy steadily throughout 3 days & we didn't clear off even half the stuff on the cheap/free/family friendly to-do list. Fountains at Bellagio, Pirate show thingie outside Treasure Island, Animal Preserve at the Mirage, Lions at MGM, Fremont St. Light Show, the motion rides/3-D experiences at various hotels, etc. etc. etc. There's plenty of stuff to do in Vegas regardless of age, it just depends on whether he would enjoy it.
