So I'm coaching a team that has consistently been in the 12 win range for the last 7 years. Some years we win 11, some 12, we even had a 15 win season. In those 7 years we have only managed 1 front office bowl, while we have been knocked out @ home in the divisional round 5 times. The other time we lost on the road in the league championship game.

I've tried many things over this run to try and get the team to play better in the playoffs, getting more affinities, changing from a passing team to a running team and back again, spending big time money to sure up my run defense, and even changing coaches. I've finally decided to fool around with training camp.

One of the things I'm looking at is lowering the time spent on "Study Films and Playbook." Is there any reason I should be spending much time on this at all if I have a vetern QB who knows all the formations and I'm not currently in the process of building a young QB?

The manual has this to say:

"Time spent in the film room allows quarterbacks to learn new formations. Skimp in this area, and your young quarterbacks won't be able to call a wide variety of plays during games."

Like I said, my main QB knows all the formations and has no injury problems. His backup is a vetern as well. I have only 1 "young QB" on my entire roster and I've already written him off as a bust, so I'm not worried about him.

It appears it takes up 2 hours and 30 minutes of my time each day. If I can safely lower this how low can I go? It doesn't appear I need it at all.

I've found that if you ignore film study your QB can actually lose formations. It is probably safe to scale back quite a bit, but I'd probably keep at least an hour or so.
