I couldn't resist it, this dynasty just screamed to be FOFC. :)

FOFC

So here's the basic concept, it's the premiere Mixed Martial Arts competition of the FOFC, which is saying quite a bit. We'll be pitting fighters of various disciplines against each other, this time not in the ring, but in the Octagon. I've decided we'll be using UFC rules for this, as the time limits for Pride in the game are not correct, and when it comes to judging, I think UFC will make a lot more sense to us than the Pride judging. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Ok, the guys who took part in our original It's a Matter of PRIDE dynasty will know how this goes. I need any and everyone who is interested to fill out this create a fighter sheet and PM it to me, or you can e-mail it to me at BarnabeeJ AT hotmail . com. If you guys want we can also just put them up here if it's too much hassle, but I like the idea of you not knowing for sure what the other fighters ratings are. We get a nice bonus using this game in that before each fight you can set a few variables, if you want your fighter to be super aggressive you can. If you want him to just go all out balls to the wall for the KO, you can. So you have the ability to mix it up and try to surprise your opponent. From what little I've played of the game, the setups can make a HUGE difference though.

We're switching from using the Pride FC video game on the PS2 to do our fights to the NHB-Sim found at http://www.nhb-sim.tk/

This will make it easier all around to deal with, and I'm hoping it will work a little better, as the Pride game was the best around at what it did, it was still quit arcadey. There's a bunch more stats in this one, so we should be able to make really different fighters. Here goes...

As an aside for most of these skills, a 5 is considered very poor, and 11 or so is very high. So if you could try and keep roughly in those guidelines I think we'll be a lot better off. Not sure how well the game engine would like a guy with 55 clinching, and 1's and 2's in everything else. Definitely specialize, but within reason.

The style category also is just purely personal preference. It has no in-game impact, but keep it reasonably with your stats. What is meant by it is your main discipline, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Sambo, etc...

I should also note, I plan on putting all the fighters in LHW category for now, so you WILL be 205 pounds. If we get enough interest I'll open up new weight classes, but I don't think that'll happen.

I should also note, I have very little idea how well the point allocation I setup will work. I opened up a few fighters and based it off of their totals. It will put our fighters on the lvl of most of the elite LHW's in the world, but I'm not sure how weighted it is from one attribute to another, so I hope this works out.

Ok, got 4 entries so far and all 4 are entered into the game. Good start, keep 'em coming folks! The more the merrier, this one will be much easier to manage a larger number of fighters than the video game.

Looking at the overall rating there is definitely variance with the way we do it, so that's good, or bad depending on how you end up. If we don't get enough fighters and we want, I can match you guys up against real ones as well, so we'll see how that goes. The characters so far are ending up a little lower with the overall rating than I thought they would, so you're not top caliber but not too shabby, could make for some interesting fights.

I'm thinking about what type of character I should make.

When is the deadline for submitting?

Running a little 16-man tourney to determine who's the greatest at 205 right now, I'm liking it so far. The engine has a few flaws obviously but for a free game I'm enjoying it. Had some really enjoyable to watch fights.

Not to mention I got to see Silva meet Arona a few days early, and am gearing up to see Silva and Lidell face off in the next round. There's some odd choices with the overall ratings, but I'm not sure when the fighters were last updated. Good times though.

Might be doing the Heavies next, like to see a tourney with Cro Crop, Fedor, Nog, Arlovski, Sergei, and others. :)

I think this is going to give us much better results than the last one, I'm pretty excited for this.

The other good news is, if we develop any grudge matches I can set up a Vale Tudo rules match to really clear the grudge out. :)

No deadline, get them in when you can. We can always add more later, I'm not going to close it out.

I will however probably start putting together a card when we get 8 people. If you have any questions just ask

Eaglesfan27- Thanks for signing up, going to add you to the list now.

For anyone who does follow the MMA Scene, I did a little tourney to get more familiar with the game tonight, and here's the results. First I did a 16 man LHW tourney, split into multiple nights and using Pride rules. It's a bit off on that, so in Pride rules you have 2 10 minute rounds, so that's different.

So here's the match-ups, keep in mind I seeded these fights solely based off of the overall rating in the game. Some of the ratings are a bit odd, but we went with it.

Wanderlei Silva
Hidehiko Yoshida

Ricardo Arona
Yuki Kondo

Randy Couture
Chuck Liddell

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
Ryan Gracie

Tito Ortiz
Forrest Griffin

Alistair Overeem
Igor Vovchanchyn

Dan Henderson
Murilio "Ninja" Rua

Quentin "Rampage" Jackson
Babalu

I didn't keep a write-up on the fights, which I will do for ours, but here's how and when they ended. We did have an interesting match-up in the first round with Liddell vs. Couture III.

Round 1
Silva over Yoshida via Flying Knee to the Head at 0:45 in the 1st.
Arena over Kondo via Judge's Decision
Liddell over Couture via Judge's Decision
Shogun over Gracie via Elbow at 1:16 in the 1st.
Tito over Griffin via Referee Stoppage at 4:18 in the 1st.
Igor over Overeem via Knee Thrust to Head at 5:36 in the 1st.
Henderson over Ninja via Referee Stoppage at 2:56 in the 2nd.
Rampage over Babalu via Referee Stoppage at 7:19 in the 2nd.

No unreasonable results there, it also set up a good match-up in the next round, a chance to see Silva vs. Arona a few days early.

Silva over Arona by Flurry of Punches at 1:25 in the 2nd.
Liddell over Shogun by Split Decision
Ortiz over Igor by a completely lopsided Judge's decision
Rampage over Henderson by Referee Stoppage at 6:25 in the 1st

Nothing horribly wild here either, although I REALLY thought Igor was much closer in the Ortiz fight than the judge's did. Really odd decision. The Liddell vs. Shogun match was a very exciting stand up match, with them exchanging some great shots, and even some fancy groundwork also. Really see-saw battle, that I agree Liddell pulled off.

Rampage was a beast in his first matches, this is definitely the Rampage of a few years ago, not the one of today. Interesting to see him square off with Tito in the next round. One of the top fantasy match-ups is happening next round also as Silva meets Liddell.

Silva over Liddell by Spinning Backfist at 5:00 in the 1st
Rampage over Tito by Unaminous Decision

Silva beat Liddell as I had anticipated, but I was shocked by how much Liddell dominated the fight. Silva was being pummeled for most of the first 4:30 minutes or so, but just went berserk and laid Liddell out in a matter of seconds.

Rampage and Tito was a great Ground and Pound match-up, their two fighters who are very similiar, and it was a brawl. Rampage held the upper hand though almost throughout though. Not as exciting as I'd anticipitated.

So we end up with Jackson vs. Silva in the finals.

Rampage over Silva in a Complete Travesty of a Judge's Split Decision

Yeah, so I complained about the decision in the Igor match a bit, thinking it was closer than it was. Well this one I thought for certain was Silva's. Didn't even have a doubt, until I saw the first judge give it to Rampage. Very odd, Rampage did have some luck taking Silva to the ground and faired suprisingly well in stand up, but Silva was really putting together combos and laid some nasty nasty hits on him. Damage done was WAY in Silva's favor, and I never thought he was in any real danger. I am however, not a judge..so Rampage is the champ of this tourney.

FOFC I A New Beginning

Eight fighters have bravely stepped up to the plate and entered their names into the elite organization known as Front Office Fighting Championship. These 8 fighters will be randomly drawn to fight one another in the inaugural card which is as of yet unscheduled.

These fighters are... Ian Bishop, a ground and pound fighter. He has heavy fists and he kows how to use them. He's quite comfortable standing or on the ground, and is also well versed in submissions. He's the true blue cross trained Mixed Martial Artist. Bishop had some rough times in his short stint with the new defunct Front Office Pride organization, but he has worked hard to elevate himself since then. He's really become well rounded, and shouldn't be taken lightly.

AJ Tucker is a new face. He's a young kid new to the fight game, but also comes from a very well versed background. He's done a little bit of everything to prepare himself for what he's to face. He can box, he can kick, he can submit. He's a threat from any position.

Raven Hawkov, the name strikes fear into anyone familiar with the original Front Office Pride. He was the first and only Pride GP Winner and was undefeated for his short stint there. He's the marked man going into this. He's a Sambo/Silat expert and is a force to be reckoned with. He is a very dangerous man on the ground, and has proven to be one of the toughest fighters around.

There's an interesting figure up next in Rob Nielsen. He's an expert at Capoeira which is not a form we see often in the MMA arena. He is heavily specialized in that field, and there is no question he is the best striker with his feet in FOFC. He doesn't have the physique the some of the other fighters have, but he more than makes up for it with his smarts. I'm not sure what to make of him yet, but he's obviously got something special if he made it this far.

Another Pride veteran comes up next and a guy who was so close to the top but kept slipping up, and that's David “The Beast” Yellope. Here is a guy who spent a lot of time in K-1 before making the plunge into MMA. He is a specimen, that's for sure. He would be a safe bet to win any FOFC strongman competition. He's a great puncher, and he knows when to finish off his opponent. Is his ground game good enough to allow him to reach the top? Something we'll have to wait and see.

Muay Thai. A discipline that has worked extremely well for the Chute Box guys in Pride, and one that our next fighter, Jao Bae has a black belt in. He's a stand-up fighter through and through. He has excellent feet and knees as you'd expect from any Muay Thai guy, and he's got great hands also. He's quick and he makes good decisions. He's unproven on the ground though, and that's something he'll have to work on.

Jeff Nights is a familiar face as well and a practictioner of Hapkido. He is also another face who I think could do some serious damage in this division. He had a couple classic bouts with David Yellope back in Pride, and he's only got better since then. He's a very skilled puncher and knows how to ground and pound with the best of them. He'll be one of the upper echelon guys here.

Rupert Pupkin rounds out our cast and he's another veteran of our original run here. He was a guy I personally pulled for as he is a Submission/Jiu-Jitsu specialist. He's got great technique and speed. Not the greatest striker in the world, but if the fight ends up on the ground you have to watching with constant attention, because any split second he can slap on a submission. I think Rupert is the type that will give a lot of these strikers fits....or an easy KO.

These 8 guys are very different in styles, but one thing that they all have in common is the urge to kick each other's ass. So the main thing on everyone's mind right now, is who are they fighting?

We'll find out shortly.

This rocks! Lol! Capoeira would make me laugh in UFC or Pride. If anybody doesn't know what Capoeira is, think Eddy Gordo from Tekken.

Fear Rob the Capoeira Master! Roar! Rob has a bunch of South American children flown up every match to sing while he fights. If he starts losing, dramatic music starts up and then he really starts kicking some ass.

Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal!

Ok, so to setup our inaugural card, I've assigned each of our fighters a random number and will be using that number to match them up. Will we once again end up with Jeff Nights vs. The Beast?

FOFC I: A New Beginning

Jeff Nights
vs.
Rob Nielsen

AJ Tucker
vs.
Raven Hawkov

Jao Bae
vs.
Ian Bishop

David Yellope
vs.
Rupert Pupkin

So there it is, we see the ex-champion Raven Hawkov facing some of the new blood looking to usurp him. We see a great match-up of striker versus grappler in the Yellope and Pupkin match. The other two fights should be interesting match-ups as well. Who is going to begin their ascent to the top? Who is going to fall flat on their face right out of the gates? We'll find out in a few days.

-- Ok, what I need from the fighters is their strategy for the upcoming fights. This is a one time per fight deal, so this will only effect how your fighter approaches this fight. I think they're pretty self-explanatory. They can have a pretty big impact from what I've seen, so think carefully on it. I'd like to get the send-ins by Monday if possible, as I'll probably try to run the card Monday night or Tuesday morning. If I don't get one in you will be using the default 25-25 setup for the categories.

Thanks a bunch to all the fighters out there, got back all the strategies much quicker than I had anticipated.

I have to work this afternoon, and tonight is the Pride event on PPV I've been waiting quite sometime to see, but I'm going to begin work on the card now, and depending on how it goes it could be up today.

EDIT: I take that back, missing one fighter's input as of now. In the future when people PM or mail it to me, could you go ahead and put your fighter's name in the title. Make it a little easier, obviously some of your names are quite simple to connect, and I should get the others down quickly, but it'll speed things along.

I'll go ahead and run the other 3 fights and get them wrote up, but I'll wait to post until everything is in and run.

Calis
08-28-2005, 02:16 PM
Well I went ahead and got things done, figured I might as well post what I have, because I'm not sure when I'll get to it otherwise. The main event match between Hawkov and Tucker will come later, as I'm still looking for one more fighter strategy input. Didn't expect to get input back in so quick, so I'll go ahead and post what I have though! Let me know if there's anything on the recaps you want to see or you don't want to see. I think the length and depth is pretty good, I don't want to go into too much detail, as that'll get rather reptitive and boring, but I don't want it too skimpy either. So let me know.

FOFC I: A New Beginning

Jeff Nights vs. Rob Nielsen

“Hooked on a Feeling” blares on the loudspeakers as we get ready to get things started off with the self-proclaimed Master of Capoeira Rob Nielsen and Jeff Nights going toe to toe. I don't think a more fitting song to start off this even could be found...or probably so. We're on a budget here though, so we used the Hasselhoff remix, besides we could use the German fans.

Ok a quick rundown for those not familiar with the rules, we'll be using basic UFC rules, so we'll be having three 5 minute rounds. We'll be fighting in a cage this time, the octagon which is a change of pace from our ring last time. If you want the whole set of rules, you can go to http://www.ufc.tv/learnUFC/rulesUfc.asp and read them. The main thing that depresses me, is the lack of kicking a downed opponent in the head or stomping, that's good entertainment! The judging is your standard 10 point per round system.

Enough with the foreplay though, lets fight!

The bell rings and Nielsen immediately moves in and clinches. Jeff Nights defends it well though and pushes him away, following it up with a jab that Nielsen blocks. Nights follows with a flurry of punches which Nielsen calmly sidesteps. Nielsen attempts to clinch again but Nights is not hearing it. They seperate and Nights begins to move in. Nielsen throws a high round kick to the head though which lands! There's our first damaging shot of the evening folks! Nights smiles though, letting everyone know it didn't hurt him, which usually means it hurt like hell. Nielsen tries another clinch and it's well defended. They mix it up a bit more, Nights attempting an uppercut and Nielsen testing the water with a few more kicks. Nothing landing though. Eventually Nielsen shoots in for a double-leg takedown and he tumbles Nights to the mat! I don't think anyone expected Nielsen to bring this one to the ground.

Nights quickly pulls a half guard, and we begin the positioning war. Nights manages to get his other leg positioned and in the full guard. Nielsen answers this by unloading a flurry of shots some of which squeak through Nights' defense. Nielsen keeps pushing Nights across the floor and eventually he's got him shoved up against the cage. Not the position that Nights wants to be in. Nothing comes of this though as very quicikly Jeff Nights SWEEPS Nielsen! Nights is now in the mount and this is dangerous! We are 3 minutes into the first round.

Jeff Nights unloads a few shots, they ALL land. Nights then shoves Nielsen against the fence, and this is a horrible position to be in. Another combo by Nights and more damage done to Nielsen who has little room to try and dodge. Nights continues the combo and lands a couple hard shots and Nielsen is obviously staggered. The round ends though saving him from further damage.

A great start to FOFC. Nielsen looked very good early on, but Nights did far and away the most damage there at the end. This fight could've been over had a little bit more time been on the clock. I give the first to Nights.

2nd Round

Nights wastes no time and shoots in for a takedown, he catches Nielsen and ends up in his guard. Nights starts punching to the midsection and even fires off an elbow or two, good shots and those will take the wind out of you. Nights works for position and manages to get one leg free. Then he does what worked last time, and gets Nielsen stuck up against the fence. More punches from the top, and these are hard. They land, and Nielsen looks shaken. Another elbow to the midsection which lands. More combos to the face and midsection by Nights and this is looking bad. Nights sees an opening and gets the side mount. This could be it for Nielsen! Series of punches which stun Nielsen! Nights is showing that killer instinct. More punches, and now Nielsen doesn't even appear to be able to defend himself! Big John McCarthy jumps in and ends it! It's over folks! Jeff Nights wins the first FOFC fight by Referee Stoppage at 2:25 of round 2.

Winner via Referee Stoppage at 2:25 of round 2 is Jeff Nights
-----

It's time to introduce a new face to FOFC who is hoping to make his debut on the 2nd card. He's David “The Dominator” Gonzalez and he's a practicioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As the trend seems to be, Gonzalez is a lightning quick fighter. He's got great ground skills as you'd expect, he's excellent at positioning and submissions, but can also ground and pound with the best of them. His stand-up skills are unproven and questionable, but he's a solid fighter. We expect big things out of him, and can't wait to see him make his debut.

-----

Jao Bae
vs.
Ian Bishop

Ok, fight #2 of the evening is now under way. Unfortunately we have no Hasselhoff leading into this one, but we don't want to blow anyone's mind with too much of the Hoff at once.

The fight starts quickly with Bae landing a hard low front kick immediately. That shots looks to have angered Bishop who goes in for a clinch. He attempts a double-leg takedown but Bae sprawls out perfectly. They remain tangled up though, and Bae pushes Bishop into the corner. Bishop is looking very frustrated already, which is not a good sign this early in the fight. The position for a few seconds more, and Bishop once again attempts a takedown, this time he succeeds. He is now in the mount on Bae, and this could be trouble. We saw what happened in the first fight in this position! Bae quickly grabs him and applies a neck crank! It's a tight lock! Bishop slips out of it though. He lost his positioning though and both fighters end up back on their feet. Bae charges in with a flying knee, it connects! Bishop is knocked down! Bae quickly follows him to the ground, but Bishop gathers himself quickly and pulls guard. Bae begins working the body. He manages to get a leg free and is now in the half-guard.

Both fighters appear to be feeling each other out now, and not much is happening. Eventually Big John has had enough and orders a standup. Bishop goes for a clinch but Bae manages to distance himself, he quickly goes for a clinch of his own and succeeds, he catches Bishop off guard with a snap elbow a second later though, and once again Bishop is floored! Bae follows again, and once again Bishop pulls guard. We've got 2 minutes left in the 1st. Bae lands a couple good shots to the head and body. Jao Bae sees an opening and quickly positions himself for a shin lock! He's got it! He cranks it! Ian Bishop REVERSES it! Bae slips free though and gains top position! What a show of grappling there. Bae is in Bishop's guard but stands up. Bishop is scooting around after him. Bae hits with a low front kick. Finally Big John orders them up and we have a standing fight.

Bishop shoots in upon the restart and scores a single leg takedown. Bishop quickly moves and has attained the rear mount! What a turnaround! Bishop drives him against the fence. Bae tries to counter with a rolling knee bar but Bishop wisely slips it. The round is coming to an end and Bishop has yet to take advantage of this position. The bell rings and what a wasted opportunity.

I think it's a safe assumption to say that Bae took that round. Bishop had a couple of great moves but just wasn't able to inflict good damage with them. He took some big shots also, he's going to have to regoup and change up his gameplan to pull this one off.

Round 2

Bae opens with a flurry of punches that Bishop easily dodges, Bishop waits for an opening and shoots, scoring a double-leg takedown. He quickly scoots into a side mount, and once again is in great position. Lets see if he can do some damage from there this time. Bae is showing some great submission skills, and goes for another neck crank, Bishop is onto him now though and nothing comes of it. Ian Bishop is still not doing anything from this position, he's feeling him out and for a good 20-25 seconds nothing happens. Finally Bishop starts with some knees! They land solidly to the midsection and those sting. Nothing happens again for almost a solid minute, and eventually the fighters are ordered to stand.

Jao Bae chases Bishop to the corner and then hit swith a solid high round kick. That one did some damage. Bishop charges after though and scores another takedown. He's got the rear mount again and has about a minute and a half to work. He HAS to do something here. Amazingly though, Bae is doing more work from the bottom than Bishop is up top. He's trying every submission in his arsenal, but nothing is working. The bell rings ending the 2nd round with Bishop having done nothing. One has to wonder if he is hurt, or what could cause this inactivity. This round goes to Bae as well I think.

Round 3

Bishop scores a takedown again to start this round. He's getting them at will, but he's not capitalizing. He's in the mount. This is it folks, he almost has to get a knockout here or stoppage to win this fight. Bae is going for a neck crank again, and manages to get the fight standing again.

They stand and circle for a while, Bae is looking very confident right now. He finally defends one of Bishop's takedown attempts. He charges in and lands a flying knee! That one will knock the cobwebs out. He lands a jab right after. Bishop scores another takedown though and gets the mount. He's got about 3:45 to finish this thing. Bishop sees an opening and locks in a neck crank of his own! He tightens it, but Bae manages to loosen himself. They keep positioning a while longer, and Bishop sees another opening, he locks in a good crank again and wrenches it. This one is hurting Bae. Bae manages to break free at the last second though. Bishop has the side mount though, the round is coming close to a close. Bishop finally moves and hits with a flurry of blows, they connect hard and Bae looks hurt. You can already see some bruising under the eye. I guess Bishohp was waiting for that moment the whole fight. The round ends, and this one is going to the judges. Bishop probably took that last round, but I think Bae gets the first two, lets see what the judges thinks

Judge 1-
Jao Bae.......... 27
Ian Bishop......28

Judge 2-
Jae Bae..........27
Ian Bishop.....28

Judge 3
Jao Bae..........27
Ian Bishop........28

-The winner by Unaminous Decision is Ian Bishop!

-----

Wow, our first controversy of FOFC. Bishop bided his time, played a stalling game, but it paid off. All 3 judges had scored the rounds, 10-8, 9-10, and 8-10. Interesting decision. I have a feeling Bae will be wanting a rematch.

-----

David Yellope
vs.
Rupert Pupkin

This one should be a pretty interesting fight. The question is whether Pupking can bring it to the ground, or whether Yellope knocks him to the ground.

The fight starts with both fighters circling each other, Yellope tests the waters with a quick combination but Pupkin quickly dodges. Pupkin grabs Yellope for a clinch, hoping to keep the distance closed. He attempts a waistlock takedown and he succeeds! This is big, I'm sure Yellope had hoped to do some damage before this one hit the ground, lets see how he fairs. Pupkin has the rear mount, but Yellope just powers his way to standing, Pupking latched on to his back. Pupkin throws an uppercut sneaking in which Yellope completely misses, it lands HARD and we see David Yellope crash to floor. That's a KO win for Pupkin in just 0:43! No one would've thought this one would end like that.

-Winner via KO at 0:43 of Round 1 is Rupert Pupkin

As we get ready for our main event of the evening it's time to introduce another new face. In our constant battle to remain the top MMA organization on this message board we're constantly out searching for new talent. Owen Hunter is one of the prospects we've found. He's an old school GnP'er and is a guy you could easily see training at the Hammer House. He's of the Coleman/Kerr camp, he's big, he's strong, he knows how to take you down, and he knows how to beat the hell out of you when you're on the ground. He should be an exciting fighter to watch, and we'll be seeing him soon.

Correct, everyone is 205. Well 205 max, you can be from 190-205 roughly, but if someone puts in a weight over 205 I lower it.

I need to just remove the weight category from the list, I just straight copied, I'll edit it up now so as to stop the confusion. I wanted to keep everyone to one weight class in this.

Main Event of FOFC I

AJ Tucker
vs.
Raven Hawkov

Here it is boys and girls, the main event of the night. Yeah the main event status is somewhat meaningless since this is our first card, but I figure since Hawkov was the former Pride champion we'll give him the spotlight. Lets see if this young punk kid can stop the Russian Bear.

Round 1

Hawkov tries to bring it in to a clinch to start the fight but Tucker pushes him away, and immediately upon opening up some distance fires off a spinning back kick which sends Hawkov to the mat in a heap! The invincible Russian is on the ground and Tucker wastes no time in coming after him. Hawkov manages to pull guard but Tucker is going after him, firing all sorts of combos and landing a fair number of them. They struggle for position for the next 40 seconds, and Tucker sees a chance for a shin lock and applies it. Hawkov barely seems to notice though. Hawkov answers with a series of punches that connect, but this just makes Tucker wrench the lock even harder. Hawkov manages to wiggle his way out though, and not only that but he gains the top position! He's got the mount. He does very little with it though over the next minute, it's a feeling out process. He's waiting for something and he sees it shortly, an opportunity and he grabs Tucker's arm. He's going for the arm-bar! He's got it! He extends, but Tucker manages to escape, and now he's in Hawkov's guard. What a battle we have going on here.

Tucker smashes Hawkov up against the fence. They grapple a little bit more and finally Tucker has had enough and stands up from the guard. Hawkov is still laying on his back and Tucker looks to be using this chance to catch his breath. Hawkov does land a low kick solidly from the bottom, so it's hard to say how powerful it was. AJ Tucker lands a dangerously low kick, and Big John steps in. Tucker receives a warning for a groin shot, and Hawkov is given time to recover.

The fight restarts, but Hawkov looks hesitant now. Tucker lands a good right front kick. He follows it up with a middle kick a few seconds later which also connects. Hawkov goes in for a takedown but Tucker sprawls beautifully. Hawkov is not to be deterred though and he collapses, pulling Tucker down into his guard. Tucker fights his way free though a few seconds later and stands. Hawkov follows suit. Hawkov shoots again almost immdediately and once again we see a nice sprawl by Tucker, but Hawkov is not to be denied this time and he does manage the takedown. He's now in the guard of Tucker. Tucker is doing a lot of work from the bottom and is actually going for a can opener neck crank. Hawkov once again shrugs it off. He goes for it again seconds later, and Hawkov once again is very calm and collected. He breaks free. Tucker will not relent on the submission though and finally shoots down for a shin lock. This one is in tight! Raven reverses it! The bell rings though! What a first round!

2nd Round

AJ Tucker looks good coming out and he lands a solid front kick to start things in the 2nd. Then a spinning back kick which lands a glancing blow. Hawkov shoots in though and after his takedown is denied he pulls Tucker down in his guard. Hawkov is going for the guillotine. He couldn't sink it in though, but he does get to his feet in the process.

When the fighters meet up again it is through AJ Tucker's knee flying into Raven Hawkov's head. It hits hard and we see Hawkov for the 2nd time this fight floored. Tucker is quickly on top of him, but Raven does manage to work his way to a guard position. For the next 30 seconds we see some back and forth positioning, a couple submission attempts, and in the end we see Raven sweep and gain the top.

Shortly after we find AJ Tucker going for a heel hook, which is a rather dangerous move to try. He's got it sunk in though, but he eats some BIG punches from Hawkov as he's wrenching it. He eventually lets it go, it obviously did some damage, but I think Tucker was worse off for it.

We see a lot more jockeying for position. Both fighters are looking for that submission, but both are excellent at defending it. Hawkov does manage to get his right leg free though and is now in the half guard. If he can free that other leg he can do some real damage. He has other ideas though and locks in a side choke. It's AJ's turn to break the submission though. Hawkov passes the guard after though! We have 2 minutes left in this round and Hawkov is in the side mount. The next minute sees little action, and I'm beginning to think Hawkov is shaken up pretty badly, he does show a great burst of speed and gains the full mount, but there's only 30 seconds left in the roun, he must act quickly. The round ends without Raven ever taking advantage. Tucker raises his arms high as he goes to his corner.

3rd Round

There's some clinching to start the 3rd and final round, but AJ gets the separation he wanted and lands a good straight cross. Hawkov clinches again and is searching desperately for a takedown. Tucker pushes him away again though and uses a middle kick to the body to follow it up. Hawkov looks hurt now folks, he's definitely feeling the effects of these shots. Tucker shows no mercy and hits with a vicious high kick to the head. Hawkov is definitely stunned now, this could be it! Hawkov tries to clinch again, but Tucker wants to finish this. Hawkov shoots in, but good defense by AJ. Hawkov does pull him down into his guard though. Tucker stands up though, wanting to finish this fight standing. Hawkov stays on the ground, but is eventually ordered up. We're halfway through this final round, and it looks as if Hawkov is going to need to end it here to win this one.

Tucker has something to say about that though as he fires a jab that Hawkov eats. There's a low round kick following it, and a flurry of punches. Hawkov is no longer even defending and Big John steps in! It's over folks! The Russian Bear has been tamed!

Ok, getting ready to start plotting out our 2nd card.

We're now over 8 people, at 11 now I do believe. I'm really only able to dedicated the time to doing 4 write-ups, that's about the perfect amount. It might be cut down to 3 in the upcoming weeks, but I'm shooting for 4.

So my question is, would you guys rather we just have 8 fighters per card and do a rotational thing, or would you rather I just ran "dark" matches, meaning I'll run the fight, but not really do commentary. I'll just write down who won.

Either way can work for me, if people want to always have a fight even if it's not too exciting, but I also like the idea of a bit of rotation, some more build-up.
It's up to you guys though, I'm flexible. Lots of ways we can approach it.

I'll work on a preliminary card and have it up sometime this evening. I'll change it up as needed.

FOFC II: The Proving Grounds

So we were left with the question of what to do for our second card, and I think I came up with a pretty exciting solution.

8 fighters took part in our inaugural card, and obviously only 4 of them emerged victorious. We've also had 4 new signings since then. So here's the plan. The losers of the matches from the last card will face the newcomers in 4 more fights. The winners of those 4 matches will meet up with the winners from the 1st card in an 8-man tournament to crown our first ever champion which will begin at FOFC III.

The matches will be as follows....

Raven Hawkov
vs.
Frank Justice

David Yellope
vs.
Jace Talon

Rob Nielsen
vs.
Owen Hunter

Jao Bae
vs.
David Gonzalez

I'm going to add a list of all the fighters currently signed up to the first post. I'm also thinking about rating them in the major categories, an Excellent to Poor type thing so a fighter can get an idea when setting up their strategy. Any suggestions would be great.

Forgot to add, send in those fight strategies ASAP! I hope to run this card Wednesday.

Well not all the strategies are in, and folks still have the rest of tonight to get them in, but I had two fights worth already and some free time so I decided to run a couple matches. We'll just have to live with our cards being split up. Anyway, lets get down to business

FOFC II: The Proving Grounds

David Yellope
vs.
Jace Talon

Here we go! Round 1 starts and our 2nd card is now underway. Jace Talon shoots in for a takedown to start things off but Yellope sprawls beautifully. Talon is not to be deterred though and pulls The Beast down into his guard. Yellope immediately stands up the first chance he gets, and we're back to square one.

Talon lets it be known he wants this fight on the ground by shooting and scoring a single leg takedown on Yellope. Talon scores the rear mount in the process also, and this could be very bad for Yellope. Yellope counters with a spin around kimora! It barely effects Talon, but it allows Yellope to stand it back up. Great move by Yellope.

The stand up portion doesn't last long again, immediately Talon shoots and Yellope is taken down. Once again he's in the rear mount. Yellope's takedown defense looks to need some real work. He once again goes for that spin around kimora though, and yet again he stands the fight back up. He's showing some excellent defense from the ground.

Yellope really needs the stand up to go better, and he starts off this one with a solid punch to the body. We see a lot of circling and feeling out, and finally Yellope strikes and lands a short uppercut. Talon keeps trying and eventually is able to perform a leg sweep and gets the fight back on the ground with 1:26 left in the round. He once again has the rear mount, and is looking to actually take advantage of it this time. He does so by locking on a rear naked choke! He tightens it up, but Yellope manages to power his way out of it! He's got top position now. He shortly after stands the fight back up, not comfortable in Talon's guard.

Yellope grabs Talon in a clinch, and upon doing so fires a HARD short uppercut that ROCKS Talon, Talon crashes to the mat, and that's it folks! David Yellope has knocked out Jace Talon and earned his way into the FOFC Grand Prix!

Winner via KO at 4:20 of Round 1- David “The Beast” Yellope

Frank Justice
vs.
Raven Hawkov

Here comes our 2nd fight of the night and Raven Hawkov is coming off his heartbreaking loss on the first card and looking to prove he's still the man to watch. Frank Justice is looking to make a name for himself by taking out the Russian Bear.

The bell rings and we begin.

Hawkov closes, but Justice lands a solid body shot as he does so. Hawkov goes for a takedown, but eventually has to settle for pulling Justice into his guard. I doubt Justice will want to stay here for any length of time. Justice tries to prove me wrong though by attempting a guillotine choke on Hawkov. I think Hawkov has the skills that this shouldn't be dangerous. Hawkov quickly breaks free from the grip, with really no damage done. Hawkov does manage to sweep though and reverse the position. This is where he wants this fight. Justice keeps going and going for that guillotine, and he comes dangerously close to sinking it in, but I think he's expending a lot trying it from his position. Hawkov seems happy to just bide his time here and wait for an opening. Hawkov begins really fighting for position though, and it pays off as he is able to get one leg free from the guard. Another choke attempt by Justice! Hawkov breaks it but in the process Justice is able to stand back up.

Justice throws a wild leaping punch that lands! He hits with an elbow from the clinch shortly after. Hawkov has a slight bruise under his eye now, and he wastes no time in shooting for a takedown which succeeds. Hawkov now has the rear mount and is looking to finish this fight. Hawkov sees an opening and positions himself for the rear naked choke! He sinks it in! Justice slips out! He's reversed it and is now on top. Justice stands it back up.

Hawkov plods forward again and is met with a nice front kick to the midsection by Justice. We're under a minute left in the 1st now. Justice fires a jab that also lands. A few seconds later and he lands a good body shot. Justice is looking extremely confident right now. Maybe too much so as Hawkov catches him off guard and tumbles him to the mat with a single leg takedown. He's got the rear mount, but with only 10 seconds remaining in the round nothing comes of it.

2nd Round

Justice lands a glancing hook to start things off. Frank Justice lands a couple jabs and hits with a big uppercut. Hawkov is starting to look wobbly out there. That was a nasty combination. He's got to get this fight on the ground. He clinches and Justice hits with a snap elbow. Hawkov is stunned! He manages to compose himself and score a takedown but he is in serious danger. He's got the rear mount now, and he really must do something to finish this fight here. Hawkov waits patiently for an opening, and he catches Justice is in a mistake. He grabs his overextended arm and goes for a straight armbar! Justice rolls out of it though and ends up in top position! This could be it. Hawkov sweeps though! He's now in the mount position! He positions himself and goes for another armbar. This one looks like it's good! It's a punishing lock. Hawkov wrenches it. Justice has to be ready to quit! NO! He slips out of it. Hawkov still has the mount though. He's refusing to give up on that armbar though and goes for another. This one is on good also! He's wrenching and wrenching it! Justice is refusing to give up. His arm could very well break here! Justice starts wildly throwing punches, and some are landing. Hawkov is focused right now though and just pulls even harder! Justice does not give up though! He slips out! That was an amazing display of guts there.

Justice is still in a bad place though. You guessed it folks, Hawkov waits patiently and grabs the arm the first chance he gets. Hawkov is not taking any chances with this one and puts everything he can into it! Justice can't hold out on this one, and he is forced to tap! Hawkov is back on the winning track.

Winner via Arm Bar at 2:52 of Round 2 is Raven Hawkov

Well here we've seen two veterans coming off losses turn things around and find their way into the Grand Prix. The Hawkov/Justice match was one of the more amazing ones I'd seen, because Hawkov was REALLY close to being knocked out or having the fight stopped. He didn't give up on that armbar though, that's for sure. I can't believe Justice held out so long against it also, great fight.

FOFC II- The Proving Grounds
Part II

David “The Dominator” Gonzalez
vs.
Jao Bae

And here comes the 2nd part of our 2nd card, and we're seeing David Gonzalez the BJJ specialist make his debut against Jao Bae who is coming off of a very controversial loss in his first match and he'll be looking to not let the judges have a say in this one. He'll want to keep this fight standing as long as possible though I think.

The bell rings!

Bae keeps the fight standing for all of 15 seconds before Gonzalez shoots and scores a takedown. He's working from the rear mount now. He locks on a rear-naked choke, it's in! That's it folks! Bae taps and this one is over in just :27 seconds!

Winner via Rear Naked Choke at 0:27 of the 1st is David Gonzalez

Wow, very surprising there and I'm sure Bae will be even more annoyed after this one. I think he was just caught completely off guard by the takedown attempt so early. Gonzalez makes a pretty explosive debut also, look out for him in the Grand Prix!

Owen Hunter
vs.
Rob Nielsen

Sympathy For the Devil blares from the loudspeakers as one of the early fan favorites of FOFC, Rob Nielsen makes his entrance into the Octagon. We're all glad to see that the beating he took at the hands of Jeff Nights did no permanent damage that we can see. God only knows what's going on inside that head though. Owen Hunter is looking to make his debut as well. We do know Owen wants to get this on the ground fast and he has the ability to do so.

The Bell Rings...

There's some concern as the first act of the fight is Rob Nielsen taking a quick breather. That climb into the cage can take it out of a person. Our concerns are put to rest though a few seconds later when he lands a high round kick to the head! Owen Hunter is knocked to the ground. Nielsen charges after him. He starts throwing punches and elbows to the midsection. A few get through. He pushes him against the fence and throws another flurry. Those get through! Great show early by Nielsen. They jockey for position a bit more, with Hunter freeing himself from the fence and then being shoved right back into it. Nielsen tries another combo of punches and elbows and has some success. Nielsen is just being super aggressive now and throwing punch after punch, mixed up with some elbows. He's doing a lot of damage though. Owen Hunter catches him off balance though and clambers his way back to his feet!

One minute left in the round. Both men are wildly throwing punches at each other! Nothing lands. Nielsen is looking very sure of himself right now though, and Hunter looks like he's feeling the effects of those shots from the ground. The fighters both circle and Hunter lands a nice jab as the round comes to a close.

Round 2

Nielsen surprises everyone by shooting in for a takedown to start the round. He surprises even more people by succeeding in doing so. Hunter does pull guard though. Nielsen begins work and gets his right foot free though, and is working on completely passing that guard. That would be the end of it for Hunter I think. Hunter sweeps! He wants this fight back up though, and he stands. I have to question that strategy.

Nielsen isn't complaining though, and he's pretty happy when he lands with a solid hook as Hunter moves in. Hunter answers with a low front kick though which lands in return! Nielsen scores another takedown! Didn't expect to see this. Hunter pulls guard and the position battle starts up again. Hunter shows some quick movement and stands the fight back up though, which I don't think is really a good thing. He's got to get Nielsen down and be on top very soon or this could end.

Hunter goes for a couple wild high kicks, but they both miss. Owen found his opening though and manages a takedown! This is what he needed. He's got the mount, and he starts landing huge strikes to the exposed midsection of Nielsen. He lands some more great shots, but the bell sounds before he can finish the job. He definitely rocked Nielsen though, great end to the round. Nielsen looks to have a bruise forming under his left eye.

3rd Round

We're going into the 3rd and deciding round here in my opinion. It's a clean plate here, both fighters are hurting but whoever sucks it up more and finishes we'll earn his way into the Grand Prix.

Hunter clinches, and then shoots for a single leg which he gets. Hunter is now in the mount and this could be lights out for Nielsen. He fires a combination of punches which land, but Nielsen is doing a relatively good job of defending. He's in trouble though, and we haven't seen him showcase the ability to get out of this position much. Hunter gets another flurry going and these all land. Nielsen is rocked by the punches and is in real trouble now. More punches, and they're just crushing blows. Nielsen has to do something soon or the referee will stop this fight. We've got 2 minutes left in the 3rd. Hunter showcases the Ground & Pound that got him here though, and continues the assault. It's not long before Nielsen is no longer even defending himself, and Big John McCarthy steps in..this one is over. It was a war, and one that Nielsen looked to have in the bag after the first round, but great heart and comeback by Hunter there to not give up and keep on keeping on.

Winner Via Referee Stoppage at 3:17 of Round 3- Owen Hunter

So that's it for FOFC II folks. We know the fighters who will be fighting in the Grand Prix coming up, and we've narrowed the field down to 8 possible men who could become our first Champion. Tonight we saw the shortest fight yet which was a surprise, but hey I have to admit I like the short summaries every now and then, and we saw a great fight that looked to be over and then completely switched gears.

We'll be doing random match-ups for the tourney as well, and it'll work like this. Next card will be the 4 quarterfinal fights. Those will be one night, and the following card will have both Semi's and the Final on it. So we'll be testing endurance as well as general ability.

I'm thinking of doing some general rule where you can relocate say like 5 points every 3 fights or so, so fighters can evolve, and change things up if you go on a losing streak. What do you guys think?

Ok, we'll definitely allow changing of points. I'm thinking 5 points every 3 fights? I'm also thinking only changing the skills portions and not the attributes. Seems more plausible that way.

I don't want anyone to drop out because their fighter "sucks" so this gives them a chance to try some different things out. I haven't noticed any horribly obvious tendencies to favor grapplers or strikers. You do take your chances when you specialize too much though, which is the case. It sure does make for more exciting matches though.

Sounds like we need a Yellope vs. Nielsen match soon also. :)

FOFC Grand Prix Opening Round

The following 8 fighters have earned their way into the FOFC Grand Prix tournament which begins next card....

Raven Hawkov
David Yellope
David Gonzalez
Owen Hunter
Jeff Nights
Rupert Pupkin
Ian Bishop
AJ Tucker

We're now going to randomly assign the fighters their first round match! This is not a straight bracket tournament, I'll probably assign or maybe randomly assign the next round, we'll see how it goes. This round is completely random though, so here goes.

First off...

David “The Dominator” Gonzalez
vs.
AJ Tucker

We saw Gonzalez have no trouble in his debut match, ending it in well under a minute. He's a great ground fighter and he'll be meeting up with AJ Tucker who is possibly the man right now after defeating the former Pride champion in Raven Hawkov. This one is up in the air.

My Prediction: This one really could go either way, I'm going to go with Tucker though. Tucker has a ground game that's almost on part with the Dominator, and a standup game that is much better. He's not going to be horribly uncomfortable either way. It's hard to bet against Gonzalez after that last win though...

For the next fight...I'm not kidding folks, this happened, not rigged. The random number generators seems to want these two to fight at every possible opportunity. They've already had a couple knockdown dragout brawls, and this time should prove to be no different. You've probably guessed it by now...

David “The Beast” Yellope
vs.
Jeff Nights

My Prediction: Nights has his number, he's defeated Yellope twice already, and he handled his first fight with relative ease. I think he has to be the favorite again. That being said, Yellope has to be pissed that he's lost twice, so he'll have that extra fire. They're both world class punchers, so the edge is really up in the air. Nights has a big advantage in ability to ground and pound, but Yellope has the intangibles. They both pack a helluva wallop.

Rupert Pupkin
vs.
Owen Hunter

Here's another of our Striker meets Grappler matches. Seems like every fight is one. Pupkin is a veteran, and was a real threat in the Pride organization before making his move over here. He's one of my favorites, and a master at the ground game. Owen Hunter on the other hand is a new guy, but he's coming off of a win in his first match where he showed some real grit by coming back after receiving a beating and giving back twice what he got.

My Prediction: I have to go with Pupkin here. He's coming off a win where he knocked hi s opponent out, which is something we didn't expect to see. He's shown he's been working on his boxing, and no one can question his ability to grapple. Hunter as we mentioned is a great wrestler, he's got good punches from the mount and a good standup punching game. He doesn't want this one on the ground though, and I think Pupkin can force it.

Raven Hawkov
vs.
Ian Bishop

Well we all know about Raven Hawkov, he's the Russian Bear. He's not fancy, he's very straightforward, toss you around like a rag doll and finish you off however he deems necessary. He's had some trouble since moving from Pride to FOFC, and is still adjusting, but he's not a man to be taken lightly. Ian Bishop is one of our most well rounded fighters, he's comfortable standing, on the ground, he's got knockout power, and the ability to submit you.

My Prediction: Tough one to call here. Hawkov has definitely shown signs of being human the last two matches. He's taking a beating, but he proved last fight that he'll patiently take the hits and wait for a moment to strike. I personally see him taking the fight to the ground and controlling the tempo. I have to stick with him. He's got to show some ability to do some damage from the ground though or it could be a long one.

---------

So there it is folks, the first round! Lets get those fight strategies in, as I hope to run it Friday morning or early afternoon.

I should add another not on the fighter strategies that I think needs to be clarified. From what I've seen those of you who are strikers really need to focus more on power. Technical doesn't seem to have any effect on strikes, what I mean is if you set technical high, you appear to punch much less, and you focus much more on submissions, etc... So that's something to consider. It doesn't just mean you only go for power strikes, kinda weird.

What I'll do is allow every fighter to do the 5 point switch after the Grand Prix is finished.

FOFC Grand Prix
Part 1

Ok folks, here's the big event we've been waiting for. The first two matches are in the books. They're pretty dry, and I'm not in an overly creative or great mood this morning, so it's kinda dull. The results are what matters though! So here goes

David Gonzalez
vs.
AJ Tucker

The bell rings and our first Grand Prix is under way!

We see some circling to start things out. Gonzalez tests the waters on a couple of takedowns, and Tucker is looking for an opening to land a shot. Tucker has the first success connecting with a good body shot. We have some controversy and a warning issued next as AJ Tucker apparently went for an eye gouge. Big John McCarthy has some words with him and Gonzalez is given time to recover. The fight starts back up and Tucker lands a glancing front kick. He follows it up with another one that lands more solidly. Gonzalez is still searching for that takedown, and he's having no luck as of yet. Tucker lands a crushing roundhouse punch. It staggers Gonzalez who is knocked to the ground! He's out folks! That is it! AJ Tucker lands a monster blow only 1:59 into the first round.

Winner via KO at 1:59 of Round 1: AJ Tucker

Owen Hunter
vs.
Rupert Pupkin

Match 2 of the Grand Prix is now underway. We see the usual feeling out process and then a couple short clinches to start things off. They're in a clinch and Pupkin is fighting for that single leg, but Hunter is defending quite well. He gives up and the clinch is lost. Owen Hunter attempts a low front kick, but it's sidestepped by Pupkin. Hunter tries a couple of uppercuts, but those are both dodged as well. Pupkin is still looking for that takedown. Owen Hunter continues moving in and Pupkin finally makes another move landing a very solid right hook. Hunter answers back with a front kick that lands squarely as well. That one looks to have angered Pupkin who goes for the clinch to give himself a moment. Hunter pushes off and gets some distance, and then connects with a body shot. The bell sounds and round 1 comes to a close. Interesting round, not a lot of action, a long feeling out process.

Round 2

Hunter fires an uppercut that hits to get things rolling. Body shot next which also lands. The standup game is going horribly for Pupkin right now, as we might've expected. I don't think anyone thought that Hunter's takedown defense would be this sound. Pupkin goes in for the takedown yet again but is denied. He receives a body shot for his efforts. Finally success as he catches Hunter off balance and tumbles him to the mat. He's got the rear mount now, and Pupkin is extremely dangerous from here. He unloads a series of punches, a couple of which get through. Hunter stands up! He's now standing with Pupkin clinched to his back. Hunter headbutts! Big John McCarthy steps in and warns Hunter about his infraction, and gives Pupkin some more time to recover. This causes a break though, which really benefits Hunter.
Pupkin shoots in on the restart and Tucker sprawls nicely, avoding it. We're halfway through the 2nd round now, and Pupkin looks to have a nice bruise forming under his right eye. The fighters clinch up, and Owen Hunter throws a knee to the head which lands! Another knee to the body! Pupkin pulls Hunter down on top of him. He's locked on a Gogoplata in the process! Hunter wiggles his way out quickly though. He escapes the guard and stands the fight back up. Finally Pupkin scores a shot from the stand up as a he hits a nice liver kick. Bas Rutten would be proud. The 2nd round comes to a close.

3rd Round

Well, it looks to me like Pupkin is in trouble here. He's more than likely lost the 1st and 2nd round. So he needs to finish this one here. He doesn't get this plan off to a good start when he gets nailed with an uppercut that looks to have knocked him loopy. He's not that loopy though as he fires off a spinning backfist of his own that catches Hunter completely off guard. Now he's stunned! He's falling folks! That's it! Owen Hunter has been knocked out here in the 3rd round. What a turn of events.

Winner via KO at 0:11 of Round 3 is- Rupert Pupkin

There's our first two matches, and both were surprising ones. Tucker wasted no time in finishing his first fight, and Pupkin? Well Pupkin was getting hammered pretty good up until that point, and what does he do? Wins another fight with a KO.

FOFC Grand Prix
Part II

Well I had some time to finish up this card, a few hours to kill..I didn't expect to be done with both matches in the matter of about 10 minutes. A very quick and explosive finish to our last two fights.

Ian Bishop
vs.
Raven Hawkov

Our third fight of the Grand Prix gets rolling here as the bell sounds. Hawkov closes in for the clinch but Bishop pushes him back. He tries yet again and receives a knee to the thigh from Bishop in return. Hawkov goes for that single leg takedown but Bishop fights him off and manages to shove him against the fence. Bishop is maintaining the clinch now. Snap elbow and it ROCKS Hawkov. Huge hit there, and Raven is on the mat! That's it folks, John McCarthy steps in and stops the fight, Raven Hawkov is out! 38 seconds into the first round and Hawkov is out.

Winner via KO at 0:38 of Round 1 is- Ian Bishop

Here comes the big one folks. I personally have been waiting to see this one. We've seen them fight twice before and I think even the crowd was bruised and battered by the end. We're in for a war here, so lets not waste any time.

David “The Beast” Yellope
vs.
Jeff Nights

This one starts and we expect fireworks. Jeff Nights is chasing after David Yellope, and Yellope unloads, he lands a flurry of shots, some wicked ones land! That's it! This fight is over! Yellope catches and puts down Nights in 0:15 of the first round. That's some revenge there for The Beast. He's moving on to the next round!

Winner via KO at 0:15 of the 1st- David "The Beast" Yellope

So we've got our final 4. I didn't expect this first round to be so fast and furious.

Semi-Final Contestants

David Yellope
Ruper Pupkin
Ian Bishop
AJ Tucker

Ok, let me think on the next round matchups. Remember, the next card will have both semis and finals. So cuts, injuries, damage, etc... carry over. This is a big one. I'm going to have to have fighters send in one strategy to use for both fights, or one for each..because I'm going to have to run it all at once.

I'll get the next round up shortly.

So get those fight strategies in when you can, the sooner the better, as I'll run it as soon as I can fit it in. If you could go ahead and send me your final strategies, you can either send in what you'd do for each fighter or if it's no big whoop just send one in. Whatever works.

I will wait until Tuesday though, as it is Friday evening now and I'm sure some people are out of town for the long weekend. Me, I'm here, stuck working half the weekend and off half, so I have time.

I have no clue how to pick a favorite to win this sucker. Should be good, or at least bloody.

FOFC: Final Conflict

Here it is folks, the night we've all been waiting for. We're down to three men, and when all is said and done this evening, our first champion will be crowned. Lets waste no time and get right down to business!

David Yellope
vs.
AJ Tucker

Final Conflict has begun! Tucker begins the match by trying to grab for a clinch, he shoots and goes for a leg sweep takedown. Yellope escapes it though, and the fighters separate. Tucker shoots in again a few moments later but Yellope sprawls beautifully. He obviously wants to keep this fight standing up. Yellope goes in and clinches. They maneuver for a bit and Yellope fires a snap elbow, it's vicious! Staggering blow and Tucker is knocked down! He's out! That's the match! Yellope advances to the finals with no damage and very little fatigue.

Winner via KO/Snap Elbow at 1:30 of Round 1 is- David “The Beast” Yellope

Rupert Pupkin
vs.
Ian Bishop

Little more pressure on these two now, as they know the winner will be facing a very fresh and confident David Yellope in the finals. They have more pressing concerns right now though as the bell rings starting this fight. They feel each other out to start the match, Pupkin testing the waters on a takedown attempt but not committing, Bishop feeling out the jab. They clinch, and Bishop fires a nice knee to the head which lands, but Pupkin smiles and makes it known that it didn't hurt. Bishop drives him into the corner, and lands another solid knee, this one to the body. Pupkin shoots but Bishop defends perfectly. Pupkin pulls him down into his guard, but we know that Bishop will be getting up first chance he gets. He does get up, and they square off for a bit before John McCarthy orders Pupkin back to his feet. Pupkin clinches and shoots for another takedown, but Bishop is ready and easily defends it. They break, and Bishop moves in again and is met with a nice jab from Pupkin which lands. Bishop doesn't stop though and keeps moving in, and gets the clinch. He fires off another knee to the head! Pupkin is not laughing as this one lands! He's hurt! He's down! That's another KO in the first round.

Winner via KO/Knee Thrust to Head at 2:40 of Round 1 is Ian Bishop

Wow, two very quick fights to start off our semifinals. Sort of anti-climactic to have two fights in one night when the first ones go for a combined time of under 5 minutes. I think the crowd might riot if the show ends up going on for under 10 minutes. Lets bring these fighters out and declare a champion though, it's came down to two big time strikers, and I would imagine we'll be seeing yet another KO before this night ends.

David Yellope
vs.
Ian Bishop

The finals start and Ian Bishop immediately creates a clinch. He's proved he's deadly from here, and he throws a nasty uppercut a second later which narrowly misses. Yellope doesn't mind the clinch one bit either as he proved, but it's broken a few seconds later. Yellope sends a probing low round kick which Bishop deflects. Bishop answers with a low front kick and it connects solidly. Yellope immediately shoots in for a leg and catches Bishop by suprise. He's got him down! He's in Bishop's guard now and is looking to start grounding and pounding him. He creates some distance and spots an opening, and then lands a nice combo of punches which connect. He then pushes Bishop against the fence, which is not good at all. Bishop is working on a sweep, but having little luck as of yet. They work to a stalemate for a while longer, and eventually Yellope stands up, but after a few failed attempts at scooting around him he moves back down into the guard. Bishop throws a couple short punches from the guard, but they have little effect. Yellope answers him with a series of punches and elbows to the midsection, and those DO have some effect. We see a lot of inaction for the next minute, both fighters taking it easy, Yellope looking for an opening, and Bishop wondering how the hell he's getting out of here. Bishop answers that questions with a lightning quick flurry of movement as he sweeps Yellope! The tables have been turned, and now Yellope is on bottom and throwing some punches. Bishop wants this fight standing though, and he moves up, and shortly after Yellope is ordered up as well.

We have about 1 minute left in the first as the two fighters stand again. Bishop fires a hook that misses badly, and Yellope shoots in after it to try for a double leg takedown. Bishop sprawls though and lands a nice uppercut. That one looks to have peturbed Yellope a bit, who sits back and catches a breather, trying to compose himself. Bishop keeps coming though and clinches. He fires off a snap elbow which we saw The Beast use to end his first fight, and this one rocks Yellope, he's going down folks and this one looks to be over! He's out! We have our first champion and it is none other than Ian “Impact” Bishop!

Winner via KO/Snap Elbow at 4:11 of Round 1- Ian Bishop

Well the Grand Prix comes to a close and Ian Bishop walks home as our first champion here in FOFC. Congrats to him. I'm a little dissapointed with how the fights went, I'm seeing way more KO's then I should, and I'm also slightly annoyed that 90% of takedowns seem to result in a rear mount.

Sorry this one took so long to get posted, been busy lately and it's looking like it'll stay that way. So we'll probably be doing about 1 card a week now, possibly 2.

We have our champion, and I'll probably setup a #1 contenders match for the next card, what I'll also need is some challenges! Now it's your turn to call out who you want! 4 Fights per card, so some folks will be left out, and Bishop is going to sit next card, so we can set up a #1 Contender match and the first title defense following that. It will probably be both semifinal losers from the tourney duking it out for the shot. Then after that next up for a shot is obviously Yellope. Then it's all up in the air!

I think it's about time to let folks do some stat tweaking also if they want, let me think on exactly how we'll do that.

Travis

Jeff Nights
vs.

David Gonzalez
vs.
Owen Hunter

Rupert Pupkin
vs.
Raven Hawkov

Tim Moungey
vs.

Ok, here's the lineup for FOFC V! Lets get those fight strategies in. I should actually have time to run this sucker Saturday, so lets try and get them in there by then. The #1 Contender is still up in the air, so this is going to be a big card. Pupkin, Tucker, and obviously Yellope all three could earn a shot at the title, it'll just depend on results here. We're also seeing the debut of Tim Moungey, a fighter who may lack a lot in skill, but makes up for it in sheer aggression and heart, he's a tough bastard through and through. Rob Nielsen will be facing off against him and looking for his first win.

I went ahead and added a 5th fight to this card, although it's useless only 4. There will be no additional charge, I just wanted to get all the challenges in, and get Tim Moungey in a fight.

Now lets see who steps up for a chance to take out the champ.
