TUCKER TIGERS: THE COLLEGE YEARS
Following The NCAA Exploits of Former Tucker Tigers
Yup, all the "dat (other^x) boy run so good" threads are starting to get cluttered, and there's no end in sight to Tucker's stream of talent to various college programs across the land. Particularly with the 2003 (http://showthread.php?t=13256) signees now being past the red-shirt season, I figured it is time to start this, and create a place to talk about former Tigers that we see on Saturdays (and on Sundays, too). I'll resist the urge to begin this thread with guys from years prior to the first Dynasty, but I might throw in a tidbit or two about guys like Andrew Childers (Samford), Tim Goodwell (Memphis), Terrell Jordan (Northwestern), Gene Pate (Clemson), Patrick Pass (New England Patriots) and Darrius Swain (UGA). However, we'll start with the guys who some of you followed while they were in high school...
THS CLASS OF '04
2003 Season Record: 12-2, lost in overtime in the state semifinals to Statesboro
THE SIGNEES

WR/OF Reajon Alexander--Lane College/Georgia Perimeter College--"Ray Ray" started at receiver and was the backup QB on the team that year. He is very small (probably 5'8", 160 pounds as a HS Senior), and decided to transfer to Georgia Perimeter College and play baseball. He's an outfielder there now.
http://uga.rivals.com/IMAGES/Player/photo/050406-088.JPG
RB Thomas Brown--University of Georgia--An old man in the stands at a Tucker game once said that "dat boy run so good, it make your DICK hard!" He entered preseason as a true freshman at #4 or #5 on the depth chart, and had to sit out several early practices with a hamstring injury. However, he was the starter by midseason. He led the Dawgs in rushing as a true freshman in '04 with 172 carries for 875 yards and 8 TD's. He was named UGA's Offensive Newcomer of the Year. He's #1 on UGA's depth chart this year at RB. In summer conditioning, Thomas became the first UGA player in the Richt era to score greater than 7.0 in his strength index--a measure of weight room results compared to body weight. He benched 425, squatted 550, and power cleaned 321 this summer.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/JIMMY-COLEMAN1.JPG
OLB Jimmy Coleman--Tulane University--Jimmy played LB and FB for the Tigers, and was a Region hurdling champion. He would have played TB at most other high schools in Georgia, but Tucker has ridiculous speed. He's a legit sub-4.5 kid, recruited as an athlete, and Tulane has him playing WLB. He was given the red shirt tag last year. This season, Jimmy is listed as a "top backup" at the position by collegefootballnews.com. He'll be wearing #34 for the Greenwave. - Jimmy Coleman, RFr. - What the the 6-0, 205-pound redshirt freshman lacks in size he makes up for in speed clocking in 4.4 40s. He'll quickly become a disruptive force on the weakside behind Brandon Spincer.
Jonathan Jenkins--University of the South--He sat out a good bit of his Senior year with an injury. I haven't seen JJ since graduation, and can't find anything on their web site about him. Might be tough to follow. ;) He's a lineman, and probably would be on the offensive side of the ball.
S Brandon Johnson--Lane College--B.J. was a WR/DB at Tucker, and was slated to play DB in college. He worked for a good friend of mine this summer, but I didn't get any football reports, beyond the fact that he red-shirted last year. Lane lists nothing on their web site but the football schedule--no roster or anything--so I'm going to be hard-pressed to follow him...
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/BRANDONLANGHARGRAVE1A150.JPG
DE Brandon Lang--University of Georgia/Hargrave/Troy--Brandon was a speed rusher from DE, and TE for Tucker. He turned in an incredibly gutsy performance in the loss to Statesboro, racking up three sacks and several catches despite being so sick with the flu that he probably belonged on an IV. Brandon didn't quite qualify as a freshman, so he went to Hargrave Military Academy, where he started and starred at TE. He intended to go to UGA, but could not get admitted as a partial qualifier, so he ended up heading over to Troy. He is not listed on the 2005 Depth Chart, which I find a little difficult to believe.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/MCDOWELL-DT150.JPG
QB/OF D.T. McDowell--Troy State University/California Angels organization--D.T. starred at QB and SP for the Tigers. He's got a cannon for a right arm. "Million dollar arm and a ten-cent head." He worked his way up to starting QB for Troy as a true freshman last year, but is academically ineligible for this season, and will focus on baseball. He was drafted in the 20th round by the Angels last year, and batted .310 with an OPS of .862 in rookie ball.

ILB Andrew McKain--Air Force Academy--"Captain Insano," as he was known in high school, led Tucker in tackles in '03, excelled in the classroom, and earned a football scholly to the Academy. He started on the freshman team last year, but is not listed on the depth chart for the '05 season.
T Clay Muirhead--The Citadel--Clay played on both sides of the line of scrimmage, and is an offensive lineman for the Citadel. He'll wear #74. He redshirted last year, and is expected to see action this season. Here's the blurb on him: 2005 ... Enters the fall as a reserve offensive lineman ... posted a good spring and the coaches look for him to push his way into the starting lineup ... outstanding size and footwork, but must continue to improve on fundamentals of blocking in order to be a contributor on the offensive line.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/STEVENROCHE150.JPG
DT Steven Roche--Lane College--Started on O-Line/D-Line. Talked with him this spring. He red-shirted, and expects to play this year.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/JAMES-SWINTON1.JPG
WR James Swinton--Auburn University--Swinton only started playing football as a Junior at Tucker, and by his Senior year, this former member of the Marching Tigers was a *SERIOUS* deep threat, the fastest man on the team. He red-shirted last year at Auburn, but had a strong spring, and I've seen his name quite a few times this preseason, too. I know that he caught a 71-yard TD in a recent scrimmage. This kid can fly. I'm guessing he's a sub-4.4. Swinton as listed as the 3rd split end on the depth chart.
THS CLASS OF '05
2004 RECORD: 12-1, Region 6-AAAA champs. Lost in state quarterfinals to Statesboro 15-14.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/TREYBUICE05150.JPG
CB Trey Buice--Ball State--suffered the nightmare in the Dome in '03 of fumbling two punts in the loss to Statesboro. Rebounded with a very strong Senior season. Trey is probably under 175 pounds, and will most certainly red shirt this year.
K Brad Daniel--Maryville College--Strong-legged kicker who put a healthy number of kickoffs into the end zone. Needs to work on his accuracy. There are only two placekickers listed on Maryville's roster--both freshmen, so I reckon he'll be given a shot to play.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/TAVARESKEARNY05150.JPG
OLB Tavares Kearney--UGA--Earned the nickname "TKO" by knocking five QB's out of the game as a Senior. It was looking like he was going to get playing time this year (wearing #56), but a rumor is going around today at the UGA site that he hurt his knee. Tavares had some knee problems as a Senior, so this is believable. Hopefully the next post in this thread won't be bad news.
RB/WR Hamilton Sims--Newberry College--This little-bitty 5'5" guy played MG and FB at Tucker, but was recruited to be a RB/slot receiver. Great speed and unbelievable athletic ability. Made it to the state finals in the high jump. I can't find much info at their web site, but they offer 'net broadcasts of games, so I'll probably be listening.
OL Will Stewart--Presbyterian College--Will was the center at Tucker, and will remain there at PC. I talked to his mama yesterday. It looks like he's the #2 long-snapper this year, and either #3 or 4 on the depth chart at center. He'll redshirt unless he's needed to long snap.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/IMAGES/PROSPECT/PHOTO/BRANDYNYOUNG150_2.JPG
CB Brandyn "B.Y." Young--USC--B.Y. took over at tailback midway through his Junior year when Thomas Brown went down with a broken leg. He started at RB/CB as a Senior before signing with Spurrier's boys. He'll play DB for the Evil Genius. He's suffered an injury setback during fall camp, and I suspect that he'll red shirt this season.
