By doing this, he rewards her for being a gold digger...

WHO F*CKING CARES ANYMORE.

Couple of morons fighting over money. Happens everyday.

We are told this is supposed to be important?

By doing this, he makes the whole mess go away.

Attorneys and bad publicity are expensive. He can consider her a really, really expensive hooker, and learn his lesson.

Next time he wants to cheat on his wife while he's on the road, he can hire a professional.

Yep. And there's no coincidence that he delayed his deposition Friday and then settled shortly thereafter. He makes it go away and he doesn't have to talk about it under oath.

Isn't it just a bit hasty to say he has paid her off when in fact the article says no such thing?

I don't think anonymous sources are credible especially in this case since they've said far more wrong than right. I'd wait until the official announcement to say he's paid her off.

Am I the only one who doesn't believe that an agreement in principle hadn't been agreed to before she withdrew her assistance to the prosecution in the criminal case?

He made a statement of apology at that time for goodness sake. That isn't something you do, when you are in the midst of a civil suit. I'm not so sure the title of this thread shouldn't be "Kobe to pay final Installment to accuser".

By doing this he makes her sign a statement saying there will be no book, no anti-Kobe made for tv movie, etc... I don't know what the price was, but it was probably worth it to get this behind him and make sure it stays closed (as best as possible).

Besides, if he did rape her (and I don't think this was ever decided), I have no problem with her getting as much money as she can off of him. Even if she is a little unstable.

Maybe he paid her off because he did something wrong.

No, you are not alone in thinking this.

Isn't doing this what he threw Shaq under the bus for doing? Seems a little hypocritical to me.

That's funny, because I was looking up definitions in another thread and found this one:

hyp·o·crit·i·cal ( P ) Pronunciation Key (hp-krt-kl)
adj.
Characterized by hypocrisy: hypocritical praise.
Being a hypocrite: a hypocritical rogue. see also Kobe Bryant

Yeah, afterall, I'm sure you would never say anything stupid when getting interrogated by the police.
