Heard about that a while back, sounds very interesting.
I did hear some rumors though that it was sounding very simplified, almost like it was becoming Axis & Allies, not like a Grigsby game at all. I'll have to see if I can't hunt down where I read that again.
Definitely be watching this. I'm a sucker for the big scope games like this.

I find it very doubtful that Grigsby would ever go for designing an Axis & Allies clone on WW2 in Europe. This is the guy who was trying to use C-64's to calculate combat down to squad level with games in 1984. If I know his style, this will be a monster that will make World in Flames look like Chutes and Ladders in terms of complexity.
I'm looking forward to this one, as well as War in the Pacific.

I read the units are the same So Japnaese Zero is the same as a ally fighter same attributes which is very disappointing.

VPI,
Did you play HOI or HOI2? HOI2...very good game...extremely time consuming, though.

Me too. I am not a grognard and the level of details in HOI2 is too much for me.

Wargamers.com:
A post to the Matrix Games official forums by head honcho David Heath announced on Tuesday the planned release of Gary Grisby's World at War (preview) in two weeks. Although it's a slight delay from previous projections, Matrix now expects to ship out copies of the game to distributors and retail stores beginning Monday, March 28th. World at War's release to retail shelves is significant, as it marks Matrix's first retail release in almost two years. Matrix will also release the game for Digital Download through its web store sometime around the retail release.
In World at War, players command their forces across the entire scope of World War II, from Japan to Germany, from 1939 to 1945. Research and development play a significant role in strategic development, but making the right moves in battle is also necessary. Not as detailed their recently-released War in the Pacific or Paradox's Hearts of Iron 2, World at War is a turn-based, grand strategic wargame of the Second World War most closely resembling classic boardgames such as Axis & Allies.
For more information on World at War, please visit its official web site.

Sounds like a perfect game for me, as long as I don't have to spend 45 minutes each turn moving units.

I'm actually anticipating this Grisby game. Do I look for it in stores or download? When?
