I was in Austin this past weekend for a wedding and was able to attend the Horns game. I'll tell you where else there's a a weak link for UT: in the weight room. Arkansas looked like a much stronger team out there and pushed Texas and its five-star lineman around for most of the game. Texas fans are learning the hard way that Fat Dog, errrr, Mad Dog, may not be that good a strength and conditioning coach. (He was fired by Bill McCartney here at CU).

Don't lose faith, IMTG. You still have the Independence Bowl to look forward to in December.

Isn't Texas usually partial to The Holiday Bowl?

I think the past four years have seen two Cotton Bowls surrounding the Holiday Bowls.

Why in the world would you have a fat guy be in charge of conditioning anyways?

because mack hires his friends, not guys qualified to do the job

if bob stoops had our talent, he'd have 3 national titles by now. even with a shit offense they manage to win games. ohio state manages to win games. texas has mounds of nfl athletes, on par with miami, and are worse now than in 1998. it's sickening

problem is, all that talent is going to keep us at 10-2 every year. not good enough to satisfy us, not bad enough to get fired. we'll beat ksu and nebraska this year, lose to ou and finish in the holiday or cotton bowl again. pergatory. mack is john cooper with a personality. gary barnett without the luck or assholishness. thank god for our basketball and baseball programs

36.3 points per game (20th nationally), not exactly chopped liver.

The "weak link", Jason White:

69 out of 107 (64.5 %) for 845 yards, 9 TD's, 1 INT., 156.7 QB rating (19th nationally)

If you consider this a "sh*t offense", I'd be interested in knowing your opinion of UCLA, Auburn, and Penn State.

Vegas,

Hell, add Colorado to that mix while you're at it. Until the line comes together, we'll continue to be horrible. I don't think it'll come together in time to save the Big12 north race this year.

I think IMTG was talking about the past couple of OU offenses, which haven't been that good. You can use numbers if you like, but the fact is the defense forces so many 3 and outs it puts other teams on the field for LONG stretches. It gets to a point where almost any offense can succeed. They do look improved this year. No doubt about it.

IMTG,

As for Gary's "luck", I wish we'd see more of it. Pounding Nebraska and beating Texas a couple of years ago wasn't luck.

If anything, Gary has had a lot of bad luck. His three most high profile recruits at Colorado have all had injury problems and never reached their potential. (Ochs, Houston, Tufts) This is while guys who were "sleepers" have came through in a big way. (Purify, Hage, McCoy)

Had the true blue chippers not had injury problems, we might be looking at a CU team that had Houston gunning for a Heisman this year surrounded by all of those sleepers.

I agree about the other part. He can act like a prick sometimes. Almost all coaches have some degree of that in them. You should be an OSU fan and listen to Stoops comment about it sometime. When we beat them two years ago, I never heard so many backhanded compliments from one coach to another program. They continued all through last year, reaching their peak right before the game. "We'll be ready this year" "I didn't do a good job of coaching last year" Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Doesn't mean I don't like Stoops, I do. Just showing that all coaches can have that attitude once in awhile.

For what it's worth, if I was the Texas athletic director, I'd put a call into Sonny Lubick. If he had your talent you'd beat OU and win a national title within a year or two.
