Forum Rules
All these rules apply to any Forum Posts, Chatbox Posts, PMs, Reputation Messages, or any other form of communication that this site provides you with.
All messages sent to forums should be in compliance with our site agreement, site principals, and forum rules.
A forum post should be made in one forum area only. If a thread is related to more than one forum, it should still be posted only in the forum in which it fits best. Multiple posting of the same thread is not allowed.
Every forum thread should be created in the relevant forum and every post should be posted in the relevant thread. Irrelevant, off-topic posts may not be posted. Off Topic threads should be posted in the Off Topic forum.
Members may not post messages which can provoke, harass, disturb, agitate other members or minors.
Posts which can be considered rude, unfriendly, angered, ill-mannered, inappropriate, uncalled-for, gratuitous, disturbing, disrespectful, unjust by other site members or site administration may not be posted. This includes any content that can be considered "adult" or racist or offensive by some people.
No Trolling or Personal Attacks - Do not post anything that is intended to start an argument or that is a direct attack on a user. The basic rule: You can tell someone that they are terrible at the game, but you can't tell them they are terrible at life. The Recruiting forums are an exception: You cannot even tell someone they are terrible at the game. See the special forum rules.
Replies and Questioning to warnings, notices and reminders of site administration and moderators, criticism, complaints, discussions of site administration, site rules or the site itself, must be addressed via private message system or email system to site administration. Such discussions may not be discussed inside the public forums or existing threads.
If a forum discussion mentions a trademark, organization, sponsor in an ill-mannered way, the name should not be displayed. Our site and forum will not be a place to disparage any of these people or groups. Any issues with with these groups should be discussed with an admin or moderator via private message.
Posts in the public forums are expected to be written in English, as it is the default language of our community (exceptions are made for private forums, forums dedicated to other languages, and threads for recruiting non-English speaking players). Posts should be clear, understandable, grammatically correct where possible and should avoid using too many abbreviations and chat language slang.
Avatars, posted pictures, and links must be family friendly and free of controversial subject matter. This includes images of scantily clad women, racist content, or anything else that may be deemed as offensive by others.
Users may only have one account. The site tracks multiple accounts and you may have a secondary account removed or merged with your main account without warning.
No selling teams. No asking for signing bonuses. No buying game saves. You
cannot
trade cash, MS Points, or anything else of value for a team, your playing services, or anything else. Basically, no selling anything.
All links to outside site must be made for informational purposes only and must be appropriate for this site. Any link that requests that a user to register at another site will be considered spam and removed and/or blocked from being posted on the site. Single team websites are exempt from this rule, tournament and league sites are not. If a site is URL or name is censored, it has been banned and any posting or PMing of banned sites is against the rules.
General Forum Etiquette
You should not TYPE YOUR MESSAGES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE THIS LINE. This means shouting in the internet and considered rude.
When you are creating a new thread, you should give a detailed a subject which summarizes the content. You should avoid using short, irrelevant or unclear subjects like "Help me!", "Read this", "Anyone?", "What do you think?" etc. Also, do not use misleading, attention-getting titles.
Reminders or warnings from forum moderators should be discussed with that moderator in private, not in public forums.
If a forum thread is closed due to it's subject matter, a similar thread should not be opened. Likewise one shouldn't post a thread to query why it is closed. This should be asked to forum moderator via private message.
Formatting of messages with
coloring
,
underlining
,
bolding
or
italicizing
, centering the text, indenting, using a
different font size
should be used to emphasize only small sections of posts and not be applied to the entire post. Anyone using a non-standard font for normal posting will be asked to stop doing so or they will lose their post formatting privileges.
If a lengthy post is quoted in your reply, you should only quote a small relevant section of it, not the entire post whenever possible.
Before opening a new forum thread, you should search the database and make sure that subject is not discussed before. If it is, you should add your post inside the existing thread and not post a new thread.
If a forum post is against forum rules, you should not reply, quote it or discuss it inside the forum. Instead you should click "report this post" link (on the bottom left of every post) and notify forum moderators to take action.
If any word in your post is replaced by *** this means it is in our filter list and you should not use that word in the forum again and never attempt to bypass filter list to write the word in a different syntax. This includes replacing only a few letters with astrices. Type the whole word and let the censor do it's work.
Censored words should be used sparingly and in a context that's not inappropriate for these forums. This is a forum for a video game rated E for Everyone, so the content of this forum should stay E for Everyone.
If you receive a private message or email from another user, you may not post it's contents publicly without prior consent of the sender.
Do not discuss anoyone else's personal information without prior consent by that person. This includes posting photos, real names, or links to profiles on social networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook.
If you don't like a member in the forum, you should put them to your ignore list and you will never have to read their posts again. Do not flame such users or reply their posts.
Usernames may only be changed with valid reason. Please PM the site admin for assistance. Do not request frequent name changes.
Do not PM/email moderators, administrators or any other site staff for small talk or for non-site related questions and conversations. They are busy people and must manage several PMs each day. You should discuss such subjects in the forums.
Chatbox Special Rules
All the above rules apply plus:
Use for small talk only. Do not use to ask questions or discuss topics that would be better suited for a thread.
Do not post nonsense messages.
The chatbox has a 3 strikes rule: 3 infractions while using the chatbox and you can no longer use it. You also may be banned temporarily or permanently before 3 strikes if a moderator deems it necessary.
The Reputation System
- The first rule of the reputation system is there is no reputation sysyem, i.e. it should exist mainly in the background and not be some regular topic of conversation. This means:
No asking for or campaigning for votes for yourself or others, either positive or negative
No posting replies that are entirely about how you voted (i.e. "This thread sucks, I'm giving you a negative", "Awesome thread. +1 rep!", etc.)
Please keep all site rules in mind when putting reputation comments. If you are reported for an inappropriate comment, you may receive an infraction.
Infraction Summary
75 points = 1 week ban
100 points = permanent ban
Points remain for 6 months, unless a second infraction occurs in the same category, which will increase the remaining time.
Custom infractions and/or different point levels can be given out at the moderator's discretion. Warnings may occasionally be given out, but since you essentially can get 7 minor infractions before anything happens to you, they aren't given out very often. Don't get offended by your first infraction or two because they won't ever cause you any problems if you are a halfway decent poster.
Here's all the current listed infractions:
5 point infractions
Posting in wrong forum - If you've been here for any reasonable amount of time, you should be able to figure out the correct forums for everything.
10 point infractions (minor offense)/25 point infractions (major offense or multiple offender)
Language - Evading the profanity filter or excessively posting censored words
Trolling - Intentionally starting an argument with other users and/or "stalking" a user
Trolling in Recruiting Forum - Posting anything negative toward a thread starter in the recruiting forum
Personal Attack - A post that attacks another person in a non-civil way: debates are okay, namecalling contests aren't
Inappropriate Content - Sexual content, abusive content, etc.
Spamming - Posting a banned URL or posting multiple threads on the same topic
Chatbox Infraction - Any rule broken in the chatbox will get this infraction. Getting this infraction 3x will get you banned from the chatbox
For breaking above rules you may be warned/banned appropriately!
I have read, and agree to abide by the EASHL Forum rules.
