Creating Your Own Sports Reality

I used to be a strictly play realistic sports gamer, in many ways I still am, but lately I have been trying something different. I have realized that unlike real life, in video games, I have the opportunity to shape how the league operates. Whether it is shorter quarters or fantasy drafts, the league is what I want it. And I am beginning to embrace that.

I would always limit myself to exactly trying to re-create the real sport I am playing, and it never turns out the right way. I would lose sleep if stats were off, tweaking sliders, "this team isn't supposed to be doing this good", and so on and so forth. I have moved past that. If I want to play a season in NBA2k12 with 3 minute quarters, so be it. You still have to score more points than the other team to win. MLB games with 5 innings? Sure. Do it. 1 games series instead of 7, yesssss. More excitement. More fun. THAT'S what it is all about. Fun.

I am letting go of my old ways, even though sometimes they still creep back in there. There is no point in stressing over my stress release, and since I have taken this new approach, I have been playing more. Losing a 48 minute battle would ruin my day, not any more. Let's have some fun eh?

Well, it's all about your personal fun. I like keeping some semblance of realism in my games. I've tried a Fantasy Draft.. eh. Couldnt get into it. But I WILL do things to alter my experience such as no DH, or moving conferences around.
Can't say I've ever fretted over a certain team doing better or worse than real life. Because to me, there's some mental/psychological advantages that some teams have that others don't. It's not always just pure physical ability that wins championships. And that advantage doesnt translate into Video Games.

Hmm! Was playing Madden 12 last night, had the Texans beat using the Packers. Then the Texans/coding came calling. I don't even half to explain.

There's a huge line between fun/realism. Needless to say, I was stressed

thats what I do. MLB 104 games season, NBA 58 game season 5 game 1st round playoffs etc.. Nascar 24 race season is plenty. 9 min quarters Nba 15 min halves for NCAA. I don't stress over the details
