Buffs Sneak past Buffalo 33-30

Tyler McCulloch hauled in a career high 9 passes in the Buffs 33-30 victory


Tony Jones scored from 1 yard out with :15 remaining in the game to propel the Colorado Buffaloes past the Buffalo Bulls 33-30. The win improved Colorado to 1-1 while Buffalo fell to 0-2.

The Buffs next travel to Morgantown to take on the #8 West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Angels exploded for 7 runs in the 8th inning to blow a 2-1 ballgame wide open en route to a 9-1 blowout win over the Baltimore Orioles. The win completed the 2 game sweep of the host O's.

Kendrys Morales, Mark Trumbo and Albert Pujols all homered for the visting Halos. Jered Weaver earned his 7th win of the season by pitching 7 solid innings.

The Halos next travel north of the border for a 4 game series with the Toronto Bluejays.

CJ Wilson improved his record to 9-1 in the Halos 6-0 win over the Dodgers

CJ Wilson pitched 7 shutout innings in leading the Angels to a 6-0 victory over their crosstown rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers to open the freeway series. Wilson struck out 6 and walked just 2 in earning his 9th win of the season.

Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick each had RBI singels and LF Vernon Wells broke the game open in the 8th inning with a two run single.

The two teams will resume the series tonight as Ervin Santana (7-1, 1.37) goes up against Nathan Eovaldi (0-0, 0.00)

Angels Take Rubber Match With Rangers 5-4

Erick Aybar collected 3 hits including a HR in the 5-4 Angel Win

The Angels overcame 3 home runs from their former catcher Mike Napoli to defeat the Rangers 5-4 in Anaheim. The win gave the Angels the edge in the 3 game set. The win also gave the Angels a half game advantage on the Rangers in the AL West Standings.

Erick Aybar led the Angels by going 3 for 4 with a home run. It was his first home run of the season. Peter Bourjos added 2 hits to go with his 2 RBI.

The Angels will next host the Seattle Mariners for 3 games before Intraleague play kicks off later in the week.

Yankees Take 2 of 3 from Halos in Anaehim

Angels Celebrate Win Over Yankees

The New York Yankees came to town and took two of three from the hometown Angels. CJ Wilson improved his record to 7-1 by pitching the Angels to a win in the final game of the series. The two losses dropped the Halos to second place. They are now 0.5 games behind the division leading Texas Rangers, who they play host to next for a 3 game set.

Trumbo Goes Deep Twice, Halos Complete Sweep of A's

Mark Trumbo hit home runs # 12 and 13 in the Halos 5-2 over Oakland

Mark Trumbo hit 2 home runs, and Jered Weaver held the A's to just two runs while striking out 9 in 7 2/3 innings of work, to lead the Angels past the A's 5-2. The win completed a 3 game sweep of the A's for the visiting Halos. The win improved Weaver's record to 5-4 on the year. Jordan Walden earned his 11th save on the season.

The Angels now winners of 10 of their last 11 games head to Seattle for a 4 game set with the Mariners before returning home to host the New York Yankees.

Halos Make Deal With ChiSox for Pierzynski

Catcher AJ Pierzynski will add a veteran left handed bat to the Halos lineup

With Chris Iannetta struggling at the plate (.167, 2 HR, 5 RBI) the Angels had been looking to add a catcher who could help them offensively. Today they came to terms with the Chicago White Sox to acquire veteran catcher AJ Pierzynski (.275, 1 HR, 11 RBI). The White Sox will receive infield prospect Luis Jimenez in return.

Financially the deal is of little risk to the Angels as the 35 year old catcher is in the final year of his contract and is only due $1.4 million for the remainder of the season. Angel management hasn't stated how they plan to use both Pierzynski and Iannetta, but the thought is they will be platooned, with Iannetta starting against left handed pitching and Pierzynski against righties.

The Angels sent C Hank Conger to AAA Salt Lake to clear room on the active roster.

Izturis Homer Powers Halos Past Friars 3-2

Maicer Izturis 1st homer of the season was at an opportune time

Maicer Izturis hit a 2 run home run off of Padres reliever Micah Owings to push the visting Angels past the Padres 3-2. The victory gave the Padres the series win and pushed the Halos season record to 22-21.

Hisanori Takahashi worked 2/3 of an inning in relief to earn his first win of the season. Jordan Walden worked a perfect 9th inning to earn his 9th save on the season.

The Halos next travel up the California coast to take on their division rival Oakland A's in a 3 game set.
