Stealthy Box recently had an opportunity to interview Pete Garcin, Executive Producer of The Golf Club. There are some interesting nuggets of information throughout, but I thought this particular part of the interview was really good.

Quote:
SBX: Tell us a bit about the online/social components of the game. How will courses be shared, and how will online competitive multiplayer work for two or more people?

PG: Sharing is designed to be as seamless and simple as possible. Once you’ve created a course, you can hit the ‘Publish’ button and your course will be posted to the server and available for others to play. And to make sharing a large number of courses feasible, we only upload the “DNA” of the course, so the amount of data that it transfers is extremely small –- downloading and browsing new courses online is essentially invisible compared to local courses.

In terms of competition we’ve moved to an asynchronous model of gameplay, so you’re almost always competing against your friends and rivals. No matter whether your friends are online or not, you can always choose to play against their best balls in the form of “ghost balls.” If they are online, you can invite them to join a round and play together in real time, but there’s no waiting; if you don’t want to sit in a lobby waiting for your friend to join, you can send them the request, start your round, and then eventually your friend will catch up. And if they do join mid-round, because our course is all one big world, you can turn around and see them teeing off in the distance. It’s really super cool when that happens.

You can read the entire interview here.

Milestone has posted a new gameplay video and screenshots from MXGP The Official Motocross Game. These showcase track soil deformation and the first-person view.

Check out the press release below.

Tracks soil deformation, First-Person View and all the adrenaline of MXGP

Milestone, one of the most recognized racing videogame developers and publishers for videogame consoles and Windows® PC, has released the second gameplay video of MXGP - The Official Motocross Videogame. This new exciting videogame is based on the official FIM Motocross World Championship and it will be available on 28th March 2014 on PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Vita, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft and Windows PC®.

The new gameplay video features Evgeny Bobryshev at Valkenswaard (the Netherlands). This video aims to show two main key points of MXGP’s development: Track Soil Deformation and First-Person View. Firstly, the video highlights how the surface in MXGP’s game changes. This feature allows ‘track soil deformation’ to be selected, resulting in track condition changes race by race. This will ideally make the game more challenging, competitive and realistic. The second feature shown in this gameplay video is the first person view that drives the player deep into the games’ dynamics, increasing the visual perception of the track’s ruts and jumps. These two main features, including the already announced separate analog sticks and loyal artistic direction, turn MXGP into the only game capable of delivering the authentic Motocross experience.

MXGP features all the riders, teams, bikes and rules from the official MXGP 2013 calendar including a redesigned career mode designed to simulate the lifestyle of a MXGP racer.
Developed by Milestone Studio, MXGP, The Official Motocross Videogame will be available on 28th March 2014 on PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Vita, Xbox 360® and Windows PC®.

The NBA 2K14 All-Star update is available now for all consoles and PC. The update includes updated all-star jerseys and an updated New Orleans court for the festivities. The new official NBA basketball with the signature of the new commissioner, Adam Silver is also included.

Unfortunately, PS3, 360 and PC users can only see the updates in MyCareer mode, since you can't play an exhibition all-star game, like you can on the PS4 and Xbox One version.

Ronnie mentioned if you see anything Houston related (ex. the logo on the scoring table and Houston 2013 on the padding) on the New Orleans court update, it will be fixed in the roster update that arrives tomorrow morning.

UPDATE: There are no Houston Rocket images on the pads and tables anymore (as seen here).

Brian Mazique of Bleacher Report recently interviewed NBA Live 14 Executive Producer, Sean O'Brien. During the interview, Sean confirmed title update #2 will be released on Tuesday, February 11th. He also revealed a few little nuggets of information on NBA Live 15.

JYoung has transcribed some of the juicy details below.

Quote:
-- The title update will appear on Tuesday, Feburary 11. The three major areas of improvements in the patch are lighting, Shootaround mode, and control/animation responsiveness. Minor changes include bug fixes and the All-Star Weekend court/uniforms.

-- "Player likeness" will not be improved until NBA Live 15 (facial technology, AI behavior, signature animations). This required a "huge overhaul." The team has pushed "as far as they can possibly push" the player likenesses for NBA Live 14.

-- The team is "still not completely happy with all the pass animations," but they will be noticeably improved in the patch. Players' inability to continue their forward momentum while catching fastbreak passes was fixed.

-- Fixing the animations and their lack of responsiveness to user button commands is an "absolute priority."

-- Shootaround mode is "based off the E3 NBA Live 14 demo." The mode was a "big undertaking" and will be expanded on even further in NBA Live 15.

-- The game that the current team inherited (NBA Live 13) "was not a great game." The team simply didn't have enough time to "turn around the Titanic."

-- The halftime show in NBA Live 14 was a "big investment," but the team feels it was worth the effort.

-- The team believed that the "overhead incurred" from creating a more robust created player feature simply wasn't worth the payoff.

-- Utilizing Kinect and the PlayStation 4 camera to improve the game's immersiveness is "absolutely where we need to go."

NBA Live 14 title update #2 is in the hands on Microsoft and Sony and should arrive on Xbox One and PS4 soon. When it becomes available, we'll let everyone know.

EA Sports has revealed more details, after giving out little nuggets earlier this morning.

The update will include a new Shootaround mode, where you can choose from any player in the game and practice dribbling, signature moves, shooting, gathers and more. The team has tweaked the lighting and textures of every player and uniform to improve the graphics. For those that are curious, the ongoing facial scanning will not be added this year, the plan is to add them to NBA Live 15.

In terms of gameplay, the team has improved responsiveness and control for many of the NBA superstars. They tweaked first steps and dribble moves to be more explosive. Ball physics and pass speed, along with passing and catching animations have been improved as well.

The NBA All-Star court and jersey update will also arrive, along with additional Adidas Hardwood Classic uniforms. A new basketball, signed by the new NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver will also make its way into the game.

Way back in October, EA confirmed they were developing 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Today they released an image with only the PS3 and 360 logos it.

From the looks of it, we aren't going to see a next-gen version of the game. We also don't know if it will be a FIFA 14 add-on or a stand alone title.

If we hear anything, we'll update this story.

UPDATE: It will be exclusive to 360 and PS3 and will arrive on April 15th as a stand-alone game.

As for PS4 and Xbox One users, the EA Sports FIFA team had this to say.

Experience all the Fun, Excitement, and Drama of Football’s Greatest Event. Multiple improvements and innovations to the award-winning gameplay of FIFA 14, plus 100 new animations, make EA SPORTS™ 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ the most accessible, fun, and exciting EA SPORTS FIFA title on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Features
  • World Class Control – all-new control system which includes additional dribbles and flicks. New passing animations, including both ground and outside of the foot curling passes, will open the door to more attacking options.
  • Set Piece Tactics – Use the D-pad to command your teammates and strike fear from set pieces and corners.
  • New Penalty Kicks – New save animations and shot tuning puts players in control of their nation's fate. Keepers can throw off kick-takers by performing different animations including wobbly-knees, matador, and shoot-it-there points.
  • Over-the-Back Headers – Now defenders can leap over attacking players to clear the ball to safety.
  • adidas Ball Physics – We’ve partnered with the official football supplier of the FIFA World Cup to ensure the Brazuca and other adidas footballs behave as they would in the real world.
Game Modes
  • Road to the FIFA World Cup™ – The most immersive tournament mode in EA SPORTS FIFA history. Choose from any of the 203 National Teams sanctioned by FIFA and play with up to 32 players locally through the qualifying rounds, and proceed on to the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.
  • Road to Rio de Janeiro™ – Compete online with any of the 203 National Teams and progress across a map of Brazil's 12 host cities. Win the final and hoist the FIFA World Cup Trophy at Estadio do Maracana in Rio.
  • Captain your Country – The popular FIFA game mode returns. Work your way through the squad list and lead your country through qualifying and to FIFA World Cup glory.
  • Story of Qualifying – Over 60 real scenarios taken directly from 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Relieve, recreate and/or change the outcome of some the best matches.
  • Additional Modes include 2014 FIFA World Cup, Kick Off, Skill Games, Online Friendlies, EA SPORTS Football Club
Presentation
  • Patriotic Presentation – Banners, flags and even see fans cheer from home with all new crowd rendering that brings the World Cup atmosphere alive.

After revealing NASCAR '14 almost a month ago, we haven't heard much else about the game. Sports Illustrated Extra Mustard recently sat down with Eutechnyx’s EVP, Ed Martin, as they discuss the upcoming NASCAR '14. The interview briefly details online leagues, dynamic field matching, why we won't see a next-gen version of the game and more.

Quote:
Retaliation is the name of the game with NASCAR 14’s AI. In past games, when you raced a road course the line of cars looked almost like a train, with the AI afraid to pass. This year, not only are the drivers more aggressive, but if you bump them, you’ll get an almost immediate response. "Last year, if you bumped somebody, they’d chicken out and get out of your way," says Martin. "The AI drivers will come after you now. They won’t be wildly aggressive, but they’re not going to give up their spot, either. It’s a lot more realistic with the amount of attitude that’s in the game."
