According to IGN's preview, NHL 2K11 is one of the few quality sports simulations on the Wii this year.

Quote:
"It's very clear that NHL 2K11 is going to try to bridge the gap between gamers looking for more of an arcade experience and those looking for a simulation. I've written about the arcade-friendly Road to the Cup mode before, but yesterday was the first time I got my hands on it. It's essentially what you'd expect, in that you need to complete a bunch of mini-games to earn fans and then complete a hockey free for all (I wasn't actually shown that part, so your guess is as good as mine as to what it is). In other words, Road to the Cup is for those players who don't care about playing as real hockey stars and are instead content on letting their Miis pick up a stick and take to the ice.

For those looking for more of a simulation of real hockey, NHL 2K11 should meet your demands, too. When playing in traditional exhibition, the deep franchise mode or online team play (where five Wiis link up and every player on the ice is human-controlled), gamers will notice that skating is a bit simpler and more realistic this year. Gone is the turbo button and it's been replaced with more momentum-based skating that resembles the real thing more so than what was seen from NHL 2K10."

OOTP Developments has released the latest update to OOTP 11, version 11.2.15! This update contains new features as well as some fixes for outstanding issues. Some of the new features include:
  • Added option for the 10/5 rule (players will accept trades to teams that they like, for example to a contender)
  • Added over 600 new entries to the play-by-play database!
  • Added an editable league evolution log to the league history screen
  • Added the option to disable recalculation of player potential ratings in historical leagues, resulting in improved AI for career leagues using ratings recalc (each time players get imported, their talents will get locked to the option you chose upon initial import (career totals, remaining years, etc.)
  • Added additional tokens to the baseball card customization options
  • Significantly tweaked AI logic regarding AI extensions for arbitration-eligible players (fewer cases should go to arbitration, players should not receive pay cuts through arbitration, arbitration-eligible players should not accept contracts with salaries less than their current salary, 1-year contracts should be close to arbitration estimates, contracts should feature non-linear escalation)

Will Bratt shows Gamesradar how to race in F1 2010.

Quote:
"Perhaps my rear wing was set too low, or maybe it was that I couldn't feel the pedals through my New Rocks - not the best driving shoes - but I did find oversteer was my main enemy. Also, wheelspin on the exit of corners often left me facing the wrong way, but tellingly this was only when I was trying too hard.

How do I know I was trying too hard? Because Formula 2 driver Will Bratt told me so. I had just challenged him to a time trial around Monaco and set a decent lap time. But once Will had gone faster, with a frankly obscenely fast line through the Swimming Pool section, the pressure was on. Whereas my initial lap had been calm and clean, I was pushing every corner and it actually made me slower."

Kotaku's Owen Good has posted a Backbreaker article entitled, Only a Few Have Left Tackle Alley 'Alive', video included.

Quote:
"You're a halfback, not a soldier, but it doesn't feel right to call these "turns," "tries," "chances," or "men." No, these are "lives" at stake in Backbreaker's Tackle Alley, where 99.12 percent of its players have ended up "dead."

They're not "rounds" either, they're "waves," or sometimes called "levels," and up there is video of the last 31 of them in this very addictive hardcore mini-game, pitting your lone runner against a field of defenders, trying to reach the end zone in increasingly desperate circumstances. Oh, and there are no game saves. When you exhaust all your lives, tough luck; you get to start over from wave 1.

Why is this significant? The developer, NaturalMotion Games, says only 0.88 percent of all Backbreaker players have collected "Parting Wave," the 90 Gamerscore achievement that certifies completion of all 100 waves. And that's including NaturalMotion QA legend Phil Davidson, the only one in the studio to complete the game, and the guy who's playing in this video."
