Congratulation Ian Cummings, you my friend are the worlds greatest magician. With your cunning ways you captivate a community only to disappear when your lies are exposed.

Its not just you though. You are the face of the "franchise" over there at EA, a group of ragamuffin developers who seemingly have taken creativity, innovation, and art out of game design. I am almost ashamed that I am in a creative profession.

Let me start off by saying that I 100% believe that Ian Cummings and his team truthfully believe that their exclusive deal motivates them and doesnt hinder their game design.

With that being said, I think its time you guys got a clue.

I nearly fell out of my chair when Ian twitters that one of the guys "spent their own time making the broadcast camera work". Wow, seriously? We are giving people public accommodations for doing make up work on their off time? Fact: The Madden development teams priorities are jacked.

You get no credit for being a madden developer. You get no credit for trying to release a good game, and lastly you dont get credit for back of the box features unless they work like they say they do.

This year we get to talk about :

1) Pro Tak(its new, so we are working out kinks)
2) Online Franchise (its new so we are working out kinks, and its a base to improve upon)
3)Broadcast presentation( Its improved but a base for the future to build on)
4-- do I need to go on, basically your selling point for this game, the above 3 "features" are either broke, implemented wrong, or incomplete.

Not to mention you managed to screw up Feild goals, online ranked games, and incomplete passes seemingly by not touching them somehow. wow.

But you were in the forums man, saying how great it was going to be. We listened to you with your cool hand towels and custom field artwork. whatever man. Do us all a favor and get off the forums. Let us go back to where there is no relationship. You can get what you need from the community without announcing Ian Cummings is here.

You know why 2k5 is better than your game dude? seriously? Cause that development team wanted it more. They wanted a peice of that *** man. They came to work and did what needed to be done, they lowered the price tag. They wanted to take out Madden and they did it. They didnt get credit for staying a little late after work to fix a camera view. These dudes lived together for 12 months, sleeping on beds made from nails with pictures of John Madden in their lockers

Now all we got is some cowardly looking individuals lacking confidence lying about all of these great features.

Do us a favor, next year, just fix all this broke stuff and dont add anything. Maybe for once we can enjoy the game rather than spend hours and weeks creating sliders and salary caps and somehow trying to play the game through all of this garbage.

I would offer you luck, but you dont need it, your Ian cummings! Go on hustler.

Wow, very pointed blog. I dont agree with everything written but I agree with a lot. At the end of the day, EA is a corporation and that includes all of their development teams.

A corporations number one priority is profit, not necessarily quality. The most financially succesful corporations (which EA is a part of) try to spend as little as possible to make as much as possible.

Also, sports games are a bit different because of the one year dev cycle. There strategy is not built around making the best game they could possibly make. It is geared more towards making a good enough game to warrant a purchase that year. They know that having unfinished products is actually a positive for their business because it naturally makes us look foward to next years release.

They have been doing this for a long time and have no reason to stop because the profit grows no matter what (which is what happens when you take away choice from a market which demands an NFL product.)

In closing, your right, NFL 2k5's dev team was hungrier, they had something to aim for..... Something to lose and something to gain and they wanted to get there by creating the best football game they could possibly create.

The Madden 10 dev team has only to acheive improvement over the bar they set the previous year with the only motivation being money and one upping themselves.

I don't doubt that the Madden devs want to make a great game and that they work really hard at it, but without any motivation (aside from self pride) or competition its difficult to produce a truly great game on a one year dev cycle.

Agreed. They did get us all hyped up with the month's of video's and blogs and so forth. I really thought I was going to be buying a totally different game. Sadly, that's not the case. It's better than '09, sure, but it's still not great. The marketing of the game is way better than the actual game. It worked too. After last year I swore on these very forums to wait a couple of weeks before buying this game. But of course I was at my store getting the game BEFORE release day. I drank the Kool-Aid. I like the game, but I was expecting to love it like I love The Show and even NHL 09. I see this game getting traded in as soon as the NBA games come out. But they probably don't care about that, heck, they already got my money.

I don't think they ever intended to create a new build for the 360, they knew all along they could push old crap for 5 more years, just polish it up, make them think Ian's listening. I agree, get off the boards, this aint politics, and besides, your a soccer guy, maybe FIFA can use you on their team.

Wow.

Renegade really hit the nail on the head.

Look at MLB 09 The Show. They had the community spokesman on the site the day after the game came out responding that they are looking into things and working on possible fixes. I just think the Madden devs really don't know that much about real football. And if they do, that is even sadder cuz Madden is not NFL football whatsoever.

Also, it sure seems the EA team hides the minute their overrated, highly touted game hits the shelves.

And you all know EA. Next year we will get pro tak and online franchise 2.0, with updated and working features. Just so they can stick you for another $60 on things that should have worked this year, according to all the pre release info we were given.

Dang Homie!!!!! I agree with you on so may levels!!!! I had previously blogged that M10 was better than NFL 2K5...HA, I have definitely been proved wrong! 2K5 just blows Madden out the water and thats without the cheap tactics. I am very sorry they are not able to make games anymore. Madden 10 is good game....but it needs alot of work....and last time I looked 2K5 didn't need extra sliders and patches....(although it had a couple of flaws....not many) Good heartfelt write up!

I was pumped for this game soooo much fellas, now im already getting 2k5 warmed up for another season. Somehow they made online leagues harder to run than last year lol. They added online franchise and its harder lol.

put the game on pro and adjust the cpu skills to 100 and see if that make the game better it makes it better for me and i am a 2k fan but its a great game but past its prime

I said that very thing EA got fat and wasn't hungry anymore I like Madden 10 but damn it took 5 years just to get to here I don't think so. If they had comp they wouldn't have gotten fat & lazy but it's like someone who gets to the top and stops working hard others catch up but when you take out the others this is what we are left with again I agree with you and I like Madden 10 alot just wish I didn't buy Madden 06,07,08 and 09 they could of been had this in '06 cause 2K5 had that presentation. So yes they are the hustlers with that NFL product and the only hustler on the block if we had a another "huslter" with a better NFL product we would go there it's just business but we dont so.....

I enjoy Madden 10 but honestly all they did was copy NFL 2K5 and APF, the Protak is decent but that's the only new thing they really added. I found it funny how people were saying Madden 10 was the 2k5 killer, 2k5 is just the epitome of what a SPORTS game not just football game, should be.

The only one's who will top 2k5 are the creators of it. Madden will never get there because they can't live up to their own hype.
