All the momentum from a 4-0 start by the Arizona Cardinals is gone.
In recent weeks, the Cardinals have lost three games in a row. They’ve seen an already unstable quarterback situation get worse with Kevin Kolb going down to injury. Also, the Cardinals’ run game is nonexistent, especially with a season ending shoulder injury to Ryan Matthews.
Suddenly, the Cardinals have become the biggest mystery in the NFL heading into a Monday Night showdown with the San Francisco 49ers.
In the mystery itself is which team shows up to play. Will we get the team that has been dominant enough defensively or an offense that can’t catch up when from behind?
For the Cardinals, it’s all about correcting their problems.
“You can’t give it away,” quarterback John Skelton told the Cardinals website. “The way our defense is playing, any points on the board is really a win for us, because we know we’re not going to have to get into a shootout with anyone at this point.”
When the Cardinals have scored at least 20 points, they are undefeated on the season. Although doing that against the 49ers, who only gives up 14.3 points a game, is no easy task.
Only the Packers and the Giants have scored more than 20 points against San Francisco. Both teams have one of the top five best quarterbacks in the league and John Skelton couldn’t be further from that list.
Despite the uphill battle, Arizona has the opportunity to make a major statement tonight.
All they need to do is win.
Do you think the Cardinals will pull off the upset tonight? Let us know in the replies.
