Well since it is painfully obvious the Forum Dictator doesn't want me around anymore, I will simply walk away. I have enjoyed my time on OS up until the immature, childish actions of Millennium the past two weeks.

So to those who enjoyed Stumbles, I apologize. I will however be moving over to a site with a bunch of current and former OSers.

Good bye OS.

I am asking because I sure as hell would really like to know. The TOS defines this as an offense.

Quote:
Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling
Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated on the Operation Sports boards. Treat others on these message boards as you would expect them to treat you. Talking trash about another user is a quick way to earn a banning, as is posting topics and responses specifically to provoke a negative response (aka trolling).
On it's face it would seem pretty simple to understand, but the disconcerting application of these rule lately leaves me scratching my head. In the College Football Forum, SEC fans are allowed to run rampant with their conference supremacy bull**** in nearly every single thread, but I have never seen a single one of them get an infraction for trolling, despite their blatant attempts to provoke negative responses, often where the topic had nothing to do with their favorite team, any SEC team, or the conference as a whole.

So could someone please explain to me what exactly trolling is on OS?

I know I'll get a bunch of PM's asking where did my avatar go. It isn't gone by choice but by a new (or to be fair I guess a newly enforced) rule. A while back when there was a chance I'd have to change it I said if the rule changed I'd gladly comply, and I will. As soon as I saw and read through the thread about it I changed it.

I really believe my new avatar complies with the rules and is my statement about what I think of this new rule. I don't really agree it's really a newly enforced rule because I got the okay from it by Clay way back after I was asked to change a previous avatar. To me this rule sucks, I really believe in a G rated forum my avatar is still okay, it's just (a really hot) girl getting out of a pool. It's just a picture, what's the big deal?

To those who said they'd have an issue or have had issues with their young children seeing my avatar (or similar ones), all I have to say please join us in the real world. If that is something you really think you need to protect your children from, then you are being an over protective parents and in my opinion (as a parent to be any day now) that type of reaction is uncalled for and will ill prepare your children for the real world.

To those who think it's too much for a 13-15 year to handle, here is a picture taken of a major celebrity who happens to be 15 (or was when the picture was taken for a non-pornographic magazine)

So which would your rather protect these tweens from? My old avatar or this image? I'd say neither myself, but well between the two it sure isn't my old avatar.

To me this rule or rule enforcement is just wrong. I'll comply with the rule, because well I have to and because I want to remain on OS and that's how it is, but really this is just a bit much. Take JohnDough's advice he left in the Off Topic Closure thread, it is for the best of OS.

So I take a one week (forced) vacation from the forums to come back and find it to be completely different.

The thing that stands out to me the most is the closing of the Off Topic thread. I understand there are some concerns on the moderation of that thread, but to me that thread was the embodiment of Operation Sports. It was a great place for us to come together and to share our days with another and really, in my opinion, get to know one another. This was a great thread and any of the issues that it had, were generally good natured locker room behavior. I also used that thread (along with my blog) to post some random links I would find that didn't quite warrant their own thread but which I thought would bring joy to my fellow OSers. And now that is gone and that really is a tragedy, but Millennium made a decision that had to be made, and as a poster and a former moderator of another site I understand and I hope no one sees this as an attack.

I came to OS a few years ago after being banned from another forum that was similar to OS (it used to be College Sports Utopia and is presently NCAA Strategies). I will probably discuss that ordeal in candid detail in another blog post. Prior to that OS and Utopia had several forum wars of which I took part in, but I was allowed back to OS, and even if it is narcissistic I believe I have been a good contributor to OS over the years. OS is sort of like an internet home so to speak and the changes over the past few months have been disheartening. For starters the newbies are over running some of the forums in a similar matter to that of bigger forums. Whereas I love to have the producers of popular games on this website it is frustrating to see the consequences.

With everything that becomes big, those who were early adopters become disenfranchised when it becomes too popular, and sadly I think that is where OS is currently heading. That is not necessarily a bad thing that OS wants to grow but it does bring consequences. I miss the older, smaller forum, but c'est la vie.
