I always thought that If I had the means and the Knowledge, I could create a pretty Bada** game but since I have neither its just a fantasy of mine. Regardless I thought it would be pretty cool to have a thread that we could showcase a Game Idea. Since I have a pretty expansive knowledge of all things Military, I am pretty sure I could at least get the authenticity correct. Well here goes

General Idea

My Game would feature an Ex Special Ops Soldier who goes into the Private Sector. The game would Would be Part FPS, 3rd Person Open world, and RPG. I imagine it would be set in a Modern Middle Eastern City (think Tehran). You would start out as a Special Ops Soldier (Navy Seal or Delta Operator) in a battle in this city, this is where you would learn the controls, customize your Character, and learn the basics of the story. Fast Foward 3-4 years, you are a Private Contractor and the city is no longer a constant warzone.

The Story

Since the game really picks up 3-4 years after the city has been invaded, it is relatively calm but there is still a constant threat of IEDS, VBEDs, and Ambushes. The Main Story would pretty much be help out the Allied Forces stop a Coup on the Provincial Government which would negate all the progress made in the past years since you were there.

The Gameplay

I would want Realism to be a major factor here, You are not a One man Army. Charging into an Enemy base would be suicide but your training and friends you have made make it possible. Since it is open world, you can get missions from a host of different people, Your Company, The US Army, and the Provincial Government. The Gun play I would want to model it after a mix of COD4 and Rainbow six, Each weapon would feel different but satisfying to shoot.

The RPG Aspect

You can earn points for attributes as you complete missions, the RPG aspect of it would be pretty straight foward but I would model it after Mass Effect. Going back to the Opening Battle, this is where you choose your Character's Specialty, You can Pick one of the Following:

Weapons Expert: This allows you to be a true expert of any weapon system, Weapon Malfunctions are decreased, Accuracy is Increased, and you are not burdened by the weapon you carry.

Medical Expert: More Hit Points, You can heal yourself quicker(when you are shot, you need medical attention, Medical Experts can heal themselves), and cheaper medical supplies.

Communications Expert: You become friends with people quicker.

Friends

Since you are a Veteran of SF, you have friends all over. You cannot win the war by yourself so you will need some help. When you get a friend, you can get what you need with either Money or Favors. You cannot Bribe a General, but you can Do something the US Military cannot get caught doing.

Armorer: There are two in My game, The Black market Armorer can get you weapons cheap but they are not the best weapons. The SF Armorer will get you the good stuff but it will cost you. Each Armorer can get you Weapons, NVGS, Mags, Sights and Scopes, Lasers, and all sorts of other goodies.

Aviation Officer: This Man can get you two things but they are very Important Helicopter rides and Air strikes. The Helicopter can pick you up if you are in a sticky situation and he can drop you off for a mission(fastrope). The Airstrikes are few and far between but they pack a huge punch and will in all likelihood save your life.

The Transportation Officers: This man can get you Vehicles, and if you are really in a tight spot, a Tank( you do not drive the tank, in real life it takes 4-5 people to operate it and your just one man). But like in Real life, if you do not return the vehicle you will be in some hot water. If they get destroyed that is understandable but you do not just leave a US Vehicle by the enemy HQ.

The General: This guy can make anything on the post happen. I would want to have his benefit be huge and you only get it once or twice. If you are on one of the last levels and you need an army (or a huge distraction) you call this man, and you will have an army fighting for you.

For Part two, I will get into the Weapon Modifications, Personal Modifications, The actual gameplay, and Authenticity.

Since I have started my New Career as a truck driver I have noticed something, most drivers are stupid and pay no attention to their surroundings. Perhaps they are unaware of the 80 Ton truck that is right behind them, but it is generally not a good idea to slam on your breaks for what i could tell is no reason.

Another thing that pisses me off, People eating while driving. Seriously, eating a whopper while driving has got to be more dangerous than drunk driving. Im sure I will continue to see this stupid stuff until I get fed up and find a new career. Oh Well

If there anything more ridiculous than The rumors involving new coaches? Seriously, In the past 15 hours Reports Surfaced that Skip Holtz would be announced Syracuse's Coach on Monday. Then Skip Holtz then Says he will not be Syracuse's HC on Monday. Now Skips Father says that Skip and Syracuse's AD will meet in NYC tomorrow.

Out of all of this though, Skip has not once said he is not interested in the SU job, or even say that he will be back at ECU next year. My money is on Skip Holtz getting announced as Syracuse's HC sometime next week.

Than Stinky dog farts? Seriously, As i type this, My dog keeps on farting. I even feed my dog all natural food so the farts are not bad but this is ridiculous. I wonder if i could train her not to fart...

Having played all of the great games this year, and there has been alot. I have come to my Conclusion to what my Favorite game was.

Nominees:

GTA IV: Great game, Great Story, Great Graphics, Great Sound. This game seemingly has it all but by the end of the game, I was not playing it because it was fun but because I wanted to see how the story ended. That is not a bad thing, It just shows you how far video games have to, to see a Game rival a movie story is impressive.

Fallout 3 Every truly great game has a great Atmosphere, Fallout 3 is no Different. I dont know about any of you guys but when I was traversing the shell of a city that was Washington D.C. I could not help but feel lonely. Fallout 3 has Revolutionized what Western RPGs should play like, As far as advancing the Genre in games, Fallout 3 delivered.

Gears of War 2 GoW2 will be one of the Games this year that I play twice. The Story was that good. Of all the Games I played this Year, GoW2 had the Best story, It was like playing a Hollywood summer Blockbuster. Add in addicting Horde mode and a Stellar Multiplayer with Original takes on classic versus modes, you get one of the Best Multiplayer Experiences this year.

Dead Space Before I played Dead space, Resident Evil was the scariest game I ever played. Not any more, Dead Space is scarier than any movie I have ever Watched. It is also the Bloodiest game I ever played, Hands down, without question. It also delivered the Most satisfying kills, The Plasma Cutter is now my new favorite Video game weapon ever.

Left 4 Dead As far as excitement goes, this one takes the cake. There is something about mowing down wave after wave of the undead that will never get old. As always with Valve, They deliver an extremely polished game with very few shortcomings. Left 4 Dead is easily the best Coop game released this year, No game requires this much team work like Left 4 dead does. I actually found myself bonding with random people after they healed me and I gave them my Pain pills.

All of these games are deserving of Game of the Year, and I am sure they will all get a Game of the Year Award from website or Magazine. But after playing each of these games for several hours apiece I can honestly say that Dead Space was my Favorite game released this year. I had more Fun with Dead Space than I have have had with a game in a long time. No Multiplayer does take away from DS but even that omission cannot take away the fun and Excitement I experienced playing.

All of these games were amazing and are going to deliver Downloadable content so in the end, everyone should be happy.

Its Not for the Obvious reason that you are truly living the dream alot of us have. Its not because watching Football is part of your job. Its not because you can directly affect The best selling yearly Video game franchise, EVER.

You are lucky because you have an Army of people who are actively trying to make your job easier. I Cannot think of another job that has this many people who try and help the creators make a better product.

Hell, When I was in the Army I would have loved a forum where people are constantly giving me tips to do my job better.

Joining the Army has ruined Military shooters for me. When ever I play a Shooter i have to Analyze it and think of all of the stuff it got wrong.

Whenever I played Rainbow Six Vegas, I couldnt get past the Size of the ACOG, It was too big. Also, Where the hell did a any terrorist Organization recruit the 2000+ Terrorist to Attack Las Vegas? In COD 4 The Opening Marine Mission is a typical Army Ranger Mission. They Conducted a Cordon and Search Ranger bread and Butter. Marine Force Recon does not typically do that mission in a hot War zone. Also in COD 4- The M-16 Is Primarily a single shot weapon, I have never seen or heard of someone using the Burst shot.

Movies and TV are Actually worse though, When ever I see people in uniform i automatically Zero in on what is wrong with their uniform. Watching the New Batman drove me crazy, Seriously, The Army would not let a boatload of Civilians make a decision.

Not all Movies are bad though, Black Hawk Down did a excellent job.
