I'm a purist. I've always watched boxing and abhorred MMA. Thought it was an abomination compared to the "sweet science." Something more akin to WWE than real sport. An avenue for guys who couldn't cut it in the square circle that had to resort to using less than honorable methods to win. I was waiting impatiently to get a hold of the Fight Night demo and one night had read on Ian's Twitter how cool he thought the UFC demo was. An EA guy hyping a competitor's fight game? I found myself intrigued. So I took the plunge. And man, this game has really changed my outlook on the whole UFC/MMA scene.

It's funny how videogames, if done well, can do that. And this game is done well. I'm very seriously considering starting to follow the whole Pride/UFC fight scene. I still feel like I'm cheating, though.... I'm gonna wait until the FNR4 demo comes out and see if it has the goods. I might just be waiting on it (FN) until I get UFC and get tired of it! But I must send a shout out to THQ for putting together such a faithful recreation of the sport and making it mad fun to play. Here's to hoping this game is very successful and well-received by the critics!

Well, I finally got my Hava Titanium Wireless. All I can say is, WOW! I've captured whole games of Fifa and I'm starting to cut up some clips for tutorial purposes. But that's not why I love this little silver box so much. It has a few tricks up it's sleeve. Seems it will record the streamed Netflix movies to my HDD on my PC. Hmmm. I decided to see what else it could record. Seems that it'll record DVD's played in the 360 as well... On top of being able to record both analog cable signals and it'll also record Digital Cable that's been descrambled by the Cable Box. I have a feeling that I'm gonna get my money's worth big time out of this little toy!

P.S. I'm not talking about piracy. Just that I won't have to ever get a movie twice from Netflix. And no DVR rental cost from Time-Warner. Wonder how long before somebody sues them....Hopefully a loooong while.

I was born in the wrong country, sports-wise. I love football. With all my heart I love football. Not the American one, though. I love what we have called soccer, as not to confuse. I by no means hate any of our American major sports, I watch and have played them all. But I find myself being re-seduced by the love of my youth. In 1978 I was put into youth soccer by my parents. And it wasn't a smooth start as I pretty much had two left feet. But there was one man who I saw with that little round ball that could do things I never dreamed of. His name was Pele'.

For the next 8 years I played as much soccer as I could, becoming fairly decent at the sport. I also dabbled in baseball and football, making varsity and lettering in both. But still soccer was a love. Then I started to hang out with the football and basketball guys, and soccer just kind of faded away. I don't know if it wasn't cool anymore, or if it was just unavailable. Fast forward to the U.S. women's soccer team and the Columbus Crew. Both were popular in the area of the country that I live and it was cool to cheer for them. I started to remember the game. About that time I also bought my first Fifa title for my PC. (2003) It was fun and it reminded me as to how much I loved the sport. Also the Bengals and Reds were really starting to lose my interest. So I really started to look for a team to latch my hopes to.

About that time I saw a Man U match and had heard of David Beckham and Ruud Van Nistleroy. I just knew that was my team. Now I'm not really the type to cheer for the Yankees or Lakers from the Midwest having no connection, but there was just something about the history and pagentry of ManU that drew me in. Busby's Babes, the Crash, everything. So I started playing with them on Fifa04 and never looked back. The funny thing is that they really became "my squad" from playing Fifa. I couldn't name 4 guys on the squad until I played them on Fifa. Then as I saw more matches I knew who they were by name. Then I began to seek info about the players on the Internet. And began to really realize how much I'd always loved the sport. This was just the wrong country for it....

So now I sit here on Saturdays and Sundays, watching FSC instead of ESPN. I go on the BBC website to follow the Live Match text when my beloved Red Devils aren't on, which is all too often. And I can say that now I know just as much about the Premiership and it's goings-on as I do the NFL or NBA. I'm even trying to become versed in all of the other major European Leagues. Right now I'm pretty much only aware of the big Champions League-level squads. But I'm learning! I just can't believe that I wasted so many years without "the beautiful game" in my life. Thanks Fifa and the EACA team and for really reminding me how much this game means to me. Now if you could provide some type of counseling or help. I'm already at 200 matches in less than a month. The more that I fiddle around with this, the more I love it. As my friends list has grown and I'm starting to get chalkboard comments, the more I'm just engaging in the back and forth with persons that I have on the list. Not saying that the forums will become obsolete, but I can see myself spending a great deal of time in the back and forth with friends and managing my page. In a way it is a welcome change, in that there aren't the inevitable arguments and trolling that have become too pervasive in many of our forums. And I can see the developers really using their arenas to be more of an avenue to share info in a "read-only" format to keep us informed without the negative interchange that has also become all too common.

I'd have to say that this feature is evolutionary and much needed on this site. Many thanks for it's welcome addtion...

As of now we are allowed to blog about the two most hotly debated topics by most people I know. I'm actually hoping that we'll be able to keep these open for discussion, but really can't see how it'll last. I just find it ironic that they are such devisive issues, as both are supposed to make the world a better place. They almost always end up as an issue of who's right or wrong. I guess the better question is " Am I so busy trying to be right, that I'm missing the point and purpose of both?" Hmmm.....

I can see this feature getting some mad time from users. I'm wondering how to boost my score right now and feeling out how best to use the arena to further hype my first gaming love, Fifa09. The funny thing is, I never got into either Myspace or Facebook. This I can really see myself really wanting to really express myself with. Now I'm gonna have to really spend some time making a worthy background. It's really weak, so far.... BriantheFifaMaster....

Monday November the 10th is a historic day for Operation Sports and it's members with the addition of the OS Arena. Now we are each a contributor to the site, we are now content generators and artists who can share our thoughts and videos with the rest of our fellow brethren. I am very excited, indeed! Brian
